First time staying in a B&B. Boyf made the reservation for an overnight while we were in town for a RubberDucks game, thinking it would be a fun and quaint experience. We were the only guests this past weekend. It is on a nice, quiet residential street and we parked on the street in front. Louie was very hospitable and friendly, explaining everything we needed to know about staying in his house. There are also a lot of informational notices about the house rules around, such as what is included in breakfast and tips. The house is very cozy and clean; our bed was comfortable. The bathroom very clean as well. There is also a half-bath on the main floor. He has some high-end perks, including a Dyson fan in our bedroom that I appreciated as I normally sleep with a fan on. The lamp has charging outlets. Breakfast is DIY, offering hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, juice, bread for toast, granola, oatmeal, bananas, and granola bar-type snacks. The coffee station has a fancy coffee maker with several coffee packet selections for an extra fee of $2 and up. He has Chobani creamer in the fridge (yum). There are also cold drinks in a glass-front cooler for extra charges, and you can use Venmo or cash. I bought a bottle of Norka root beer (Akron spelled backwards) to take home. We did not use the hot tub in the backyard, but there is an extra charge to use. It is large enough for multiple people. He has a seating area on the back patio as well. Good afternoon, I would first like to state that this space is absolutely beautiful! The home itself is immaculately decorated with bright colors and beautiful wood furnishings. There were quite a few snacks, drinks and offerings that were supplied at a price. That is as far as I would go with the positive feedback. The host of this bed and breakfast displayed some very aggressive behavior that started when I questioned why the payment for the room was taken out of my account on the day the space was booked although the room was listed as a Book Now, Pay Later Option on the Expedia website. There were a lot of excuses for that " mix up", no accountability or attempt to make up for the mix up. I let it go, said several times via text messages that it was done...so no worries. Upon arriving to check in, the host did not welcome me into the home, instead he immediatley started speaking again on the issues with Expedia listing his property incorrectly. He was visibly upset that I did not acknowledge his effort to correct the listing, although his efforts did not benefit me in any way. I had to ask him if I could use his bathroom, I had to ask him several times if I could be shown to my room as I was expected to speak at an event at Chase bank with a short window of time to get ready. He was very very upset about that as well. At that point I had to ask if I was safe staying there due to how volatile he was speaking to me...how he was towering over me. He refused to acknowledge the compliment to his home when I came out of the bathroom...he refused to shake my hand when I offered it. Once we were in the room upstairs, he began grilling me about why I wouldn't arrive earlier in order to allow him time to give me a tour, he wouldn't leave the room until I answered his interrogation to which I responded that I did not want to pay the extra money when the earliest I could've been there was 2:30 p.m. ( Check in was listed at 3pm) Once he did leave the room, my anxiety was so bad I was visibly shaken. I immediately called Expedia to report the incident, making it very clear that I did not feel safe in the home. That the host had used physical intimidation to make me feel as though I was not welcome there. Expedia wanted to call the host while I was still in the house...I asked explicitly to wait until I left because I was afraid of what he would do to me while I was there if they called in that moment. I changed for my event, and left the space. As I was leaving , the host followed me outside to let me know that I couldn't park where I was parked...I said that's ok, because I don't feel safe here with you alone. He then screamed from the porch that I was not welcome back and that he did not want my "kind" in his home. I am currently disputing charges for the space with my bank. There is a great deal of proof of his aggression via text messages, as well as the proof from the Expedia conversation. My next stop is to file a complaint with the BBB as this was by far the scariest experience I have ever had as a solo female traveler. I chose this space because of the proximity to the event I was booked for and because of the amazing reviews....after looking through the reviews a bit closer, I see that there have not been a great many people of color booking this space....I wonder if that is because this host appears to be an out in the open racist. I do not suggest booking at this location if you a single woman, black, white or purple. In my experience, when white men display aggression the way this man did, it is a safe bet of potential violence occurring when tempers flare. read more

I had a fantastic time was not expecting so much more from the outside but I was comfortable, safe in a clean environment with two men that cared about my safety. I had the best hospitality a woman would want away from home. Knowledge about the area of Akron his family and the house. Oh my the restaurants. Food being available for you to eat and cook. T-shirts and caps for advertisements. I slept well the bed very very durable and comfortable. Sheets clean although they had no smell. Better than most hotels I go to . I even looked under the bed clean. I could hang my clothes in the closet for the next day. The shower was extremely satisfying. The bathroom clean. I still gave it the covid wash down. Sometimes with men you never know. The environment was a flow through. Everything was clean. I had to leave the next morning but I was amazed and surprised about how well I was safe and did not feel as if I would be dead the next morning you can not tell with this world but I was in excellent, gentlemen company and they cared. Conversation well as we are all connected by one extreme or the next. Thanks Men until the next time. I guess I love seeing how well I continue to adapt to any environment. The fridge was stocked, dishes clean and the house smelled well. Good job for the AB&B choice. After all I am a veteran, always prepared Thanks Yahweh for the journey. I would do it again. read more

Berrodin's B&B was a wonderful experience. Right at arrival, we were welcomed into a colorful, comfortable, casual environment. The room was very comfortable. Louie adds amenities that are very thoughtful like a fan in the bedroom and shampoo, etc. in the bedroom. GREAT shower, too! We would definitely stay at Berrodin's again! FYSA: masks were not worn in the shared areas. We stayed only one night while passing through the Akron area. The house is kept tidy. The whole atmosphere left me feeling the way I did when I was allowed to stay over at my friend's house as a kid - cozy, relaxed, and unhurried. The draw for us to stay was Louie's kindness in allowing us to stay with our pet. He's a well-behaved part of the family, and it can be hard to find locations that will allow him. Louie was clear about the rules for pets and ensured we were able to comply. Fortunately our dog is a frequent traveler who never sleeps in people beds, so it was no bother for us. Breakfast was more than sufficient, especially given how affordable Louie's rates are. I had Greek yogurt and coffee. My husband has an English muffin with butter and jam. There was also fruit, oatmeal, and granola bars. There's a few paid items available such as espresso and bottled drinks. Louie was exceptionally friendly. He was so passionately friendly, I literally thought to myself, "I wonder if this person ever suffers from the Mondays?" If you're looking for conversation, definitely pick Berrodin Bed and Breakfast. When we booked, I booked through the B&B's website directly, so it was clear about this being a strongly Christian lodging option. This may be worth noting for those with negative attitudes about religion. read more

The house is older but clean. It is close to amenities. This is a place with a shared bath. As we arrived a couple was leaving. Louie greeted us, helped us park our bikes and then proceeded to complain vehemently about the couple that just left. Later when we came down from our room, he was arguing with someone on the phone. That evening when we came back from dinner, his friend arrived and he was quite rude towards her and her new hair style. We found these sorts of behaviors to be very unprofessional and in poor taste. read more

Berrodin Bed and Breakfast and the hospitality of owner Louie goes beyond what I can write in a review! I was traveling through the Akron OH area with my partner and we ran into major troubles with our AirBnB rental. Long story short, we were essentially stranded without a place to stay at 830pm on a Sunday night. We quickly juggled calling AirBnB customer service and found Louie's BnB on Google. We like supporting local businesses over hotel chains. Louie was quick to answer his phone and accommodated us immediately on such short notice, and had a room for us for one night. We arrived well past his normal check in time, and we continued to chat and learn about the Akron area and sites while I waited on hold with AirBnB customer service (a two hour ordeal). The house is impeccably remodeled and comfy. The bed was one of the best I've stayed in, the house was cool on a hot summer night, and the bathroom and kitchen were spacious and welcoming. This is a well tended home with lots of love poured into it over the years. If you treat Louie well and respect his space and home (which should be common sense these days) you will truly enjoy your stay. Continental breakfast is gracious for the affordability of a one night stay for two people (coffee, tea, Cliff bars, hard boiled eggs, juice, etc). Towels were very soft and sheets were impeccably tucked. We will definitely be staying here again to explore more of what Akron has to offer. read more

My friend and I recently rode our bicycles from Columbus to Cleveland on the Ohio to Erie Trail. Berrodin BnB was our third and last overnight stay. It was easy to find via Google maps, bicycle route option, just a couple miles off the OTET on low traffic city streets. We had a private code to enter the house, but Louie, our host soon made his appearance. He and my friend took our bikes to lock them in a garage, so very secure for the night. After a 70 mile, very hot day, we each had a shower and cleaned up before getting food. Louis gave us great recommendation for dinner, just about 4 blocks away. Aladdin's (mid eastern food) was excellent, and we had a beer at Don's across the street. When we returned to the house, we met a couple from PA on the comfortable porch, and had a pleasant conversation before retiring. The room was cozy and comfortable. Louie provided a portable mattress for the floor, so Mike and I didn't have to share the double bed. If you have need for this arrangement, be sure to book Room 2 as it's the only one that has floor room for this. We slept well, and on rising we had good "continental" breakfast: good coffee, boiled egg, muffins, fruit. There were several other items available too. We hit the road for our last 40 miles to Cleveland, we'll rested and fed. Louie is a good host, and is most welcoming to bicycle travelers, as the OTET has brought lots of riders to his door. Definitely recommend this BnB! So much more fun than a chain hotel. The rooms and bathroom are well appointed, spotless, and homey. read more

Having stayed at Berrodin B&B before, it's unfortunate that my last stay was markedly different than what I had experienced in my short stays before. From the start, Louie asked me to do work around the bed and breakfast for him, for free. Prior to Louie leaving the b&b for a weekend trip out of state, he asked me to check in guests and make beds, and watch over the b&b for him. Fortunately I had other commitments and did not, because he has had nothing good to say about the person who did volunteer to help. But really, what kind of b&b owner asks his customers to run his b&b for him? And for free? Despite this, I stayed because I had already paid up front, and tried to put up with listening to Louie's many rants (which often included rants about other guests, to include sometimes current guests) until on one occasion Louie became enraged when I had politely tried to change topics, and told him I did not want to discuss with him some of his personal issues. This resulted in Louie stomping off and made the rest of my stay uncomfortable. Louie does have many house rules, and they can be hard to keep track of because there is no one list of all of them. He seems to make new ones up as he goes, and as I found out, once you've made Louie angry you will never live up to his standards. Rather than deal with all of this, I left early with no re-imbursement. In summary, Louie is just not professional. If you want to be treated like a customer, then go somewhere else. Also, in the room that I was placed in there was a hole in the door, large enough to see through. read more

Berrodin Bed & Breakfast was a very comfortable and affordable stay on my trip across the country. Louie was a very pleasant host and had many amenities on offer. He made me feel at home during my stay. The room was very clean and very well-prepared for guests. The room had an air purifier and complementary chocolates. Plenty of power outlets, a desk to work on, and a comfortable bed. I was traveling with my dog, and the B&B also had a nice large grassy backyard for my dog to play in. Been staying at bed & breakfasts instead of hotels for many years. Never a negative experience until this place. Though it was very clean, we found it very jammed up w furniture when we entered the front door. Reminiscent of a Frat House decor. Steps to the upstairs bedrooms unsafe as the railing at the first landing overlooking the living room was only about 18" tall. Easy for a little one to fall over. "Breakfast" in this B&B was an offering of previously hard-boiled eggs or a cup of yogurt from the fridge...?! We purchased a gourmet cake to celebrate my husbands birthday while we were there. Upon enjoying a quick bite in the dining area (before returning it to refrigerator to take home and enjoy w our kids), we had offered the owner a little slice since he was there working at the table. Several times we encouraged him to enjoy a slice w us, and several times he declined. We then put it away. When we packed up the next morning to go home and went to retrieve the cake--- 3/4 of it had been eaten! The owner later informed us that he and his girlfriend had decided to take us up on our previous nights offer! I just couldn't believe it! We would not recommend this place and would have been more comfortable at a hotel. Definitely would not return. read more

I had a great stay in the Big Louie Room. The room was clean and comfortable, with nice bedding, towels and attention to detail. The bathroom was also very clean and well equipped. The walk-in shower was awesome. I really liked the kitchen with a nice coffee maker and plenty of choices for breakfast. The living and dining area was nicely furnished and full of great memorabilia about the Bucket Shop and Akron in general. I plan on staying there again. Thanks Louie! read more

We stayed here for our honeymoon. Owner would not let us open the window blinds during the day. I hated how dark it was in the living room and dining room. He said it is because of the bill. I stayed in the bedroom when we were home just so I could have some natural light. This is not ok. Three days out of the month would not have been that big of deal as far as his bill goes. We paid to stay at his house and could not look outside from the living room or dining room. Blinds HAD to stay closed...so depressing. Also, website is misleading, no air conditioning in bedroom, just a fan. TV has ONLY NETFLIX, no TV channels. Also, be aware that you have to pay for coffee too.m read more

My stay with Louie was relaxing, enjoyable and safe. As a woman traveling alone, I wanted to stay somewhere I felt safe and cared for. Louie did not disappoint. He was diligent about checking in with me on my way in and once on the premises he took care to offer security code entry and bedroom door codes instead of keys. This made coming and going a breeze without jeopardizing the safety of others. I've stayed at other places were getting access to keys and gaining entry was a complete nightmare, I appreciate that Louie made this process easy for his guests. The room was clean and adequately furnished for my needs, everything smelled so nice no matter where you went. The property itself is in walking distance of Highland Square where there are some great restaurants and a good cup of joe for those wanting to venture out and explore Akron. In addition, a 10-minute drive to the Metro Parks where you can hike, bike and do a trail run obstacle course which I found a great alternative to a stuffy gym environment. My stay was a blast, I will be back the next time I visit Akron, this place was top-notch! read more

We spent the Night at Louis' and the place was exactly what the ideal accommodation should be. Louie has taken care of everything a guest might need. I forgot some of the bathroom accessories and found everything I needed from Louis without any problems. His house is shrouded in hospitality and cordiality, I couldn't imagine a better place to stay in Akron. If there was a way I could give negative stats I would. Customer service was sooo horrible. I called and left a message for pricing. A gentleman called me back let's say 3hrs later. Answer the phone he said hello he way returning a call. I responded excitedly by saying, " Yes, I was call regarding pricing, may I ask how many rooms do you have? The man cut me off mid sentence and said and I quote, "Yea how many people?, What do you need it for and for how long? Stunned by how abruptly he responded and the lack genuine compassion for what I actually needed I responded, well sir if you let me ask my question then we can get into all of that. He then stated yea this not going to work out and hung up. I am so sick of people treating each other with no empathy or love. It's so debilitating and draining to encounter people refuse to treat you as hard working, green money spending person. I can guarantee if I was the person that was trying to help him and responded the way he did to me it would be smoke in the city. We have to do better with one another. 1Corinthians 13:13 say we must love each other even more than we have faith or hope. God bless this gentleman and whatever he may had been going through. Incredibly unique and exceptionally clean home! I was traveling from California all the way to the east coast alone, and I am so grateful I chose to stay at Berrodin Bed & Breakfast. As soon as I arrived, I noticed how clean, organized, and warm this home is. Louie greeted me and took me on a tour, showed me the whole place and offered me water as well, which was a kind gesture. I felt right at home the entire time of my stay. It was such a relief to be at such a cozy and inviting home after staying in run-of-the-mill hotels throughout my road trip. This house is decorated with interesting artwork, cozy furniture, and there are movies, games, and food/drinks available to the guests. There are free breakfast options, but there is also other beverages available for purchase, which was very convenient for a traveler such as myself. I was able to get a gatorade right at the house for my long drive ahead. The room I stayed in was epically clean, smelled really nice, and had everything I needed for sleeping and for a shower. It also had some candies :) which was awesome. Louie is a friendly and honest guy who genuinely works hard to make sure his guests are comfortable and have a great stay! I would strongly recommend this Bed & Breakfast. Whether you are traveling and need one night, or want to do some exploring in the Akron area, this is your place! I will be returning! read more

I spent 3 nights at the Berrodin Bed & Breakfast In Akron, Ohio and the only thing I can say is  WOW! I literally think this guy has thought of everything as it relates to the comfort of his guests. The little details are just amazing. The system for entry, the towels, the coffee maker, the music system, the lighting, the bathroom essentials, to name just a few.  In addition, and most importantly, I made four new friends during my short stay, one of whom is Louie, the owner of the B&B.  I learned about and experienced the history of Akron and had some of the best food of my life. I ate at two local restaurants during my stay both having been recommended by the owner and I visited the art gallery of a famous local artist. The stay at the B&B, the restaurant selection and the art gallery would make a visit to Akron well worth the visit even if you had no other business in town or nearby. I will need to revisit the area in just a few weeks and I'm really looking forward to staying in this Bed and Breakfast again. read more
