This was never mentioned when we entered, and I have honestly never encountered a policy like that before. We were asked to hand over our purses, which were then taken to the front of the store while we continued shopping. When it came time to check out, the cashier asked whether I was paying with credit or debit. After I said credit, I was told I had to show my ID in order to use my credit card. Between having my purse taken and then being asked for identification just to complete my purchase, I felt like I was being treated with suspicion the entire time. It was an incredibly uncomfortable shopping experience. Afterward, I spoke with several people who have shopped at this store multiple times, and they told me they have never been told about or experienced a "no bag policy." If this policy does exist, it should be clearly communicated to every customer upon entering, not enforced after they've already been shopping for half an hour.
