Wow!!! I haven't been here in a year and it's been remodeled. It looks sooo much better. It's brighter now. The MRI machine was new since I'd been there. The staff were very friendly and the appt ran on time. I received the results in 24 hours. Parking is easy in the attached lot. A star deduction-They had me fill out a 4 page questionnaire before being seen. I'd prefer if that could be done ahead of time electronically. This review of one star is for the current appointment process. It was absolutely painful to have to repeat myself and spell out everything several times (including the referring physician's office address). It took 25 mins on the phone to make an appointment for the Fort Lauderdale location and this was after the agent picked up my call from the queue. I've used AKUMIN before and the staff is always great but the appointment process will prevent me from making any other imaging appointments in the future. I read other reviews from over a year ago addressing this same issue - AKUMIN do better! read more

I had an 11:15 AM mammogram appointment and an 11:30 AM ultrasound appointment. I arrived at 11:00 AM, as they stressed the importance of coming 15 minutes early. When I walked in, the waiting area was very busy. There are about five windows, but only one reception desk where you initially check in. Thankfully, the line moved fairly quickly. After checking in, I was given paperwork to complete. About 15 minutes later, I was called to one of the windows to turn in the paperwork and make my payment. My payment was collected at 11:27 AM, and then I was sent back to wait again. I wasn't called to the back until 11:53 AM. Once in the back, I was given a pink robe and instructed to remove my top and bra, then seated in another waiting room designated just for women. I didnt like that. What happened to changing in the room that the procedure would be happening in? At 12:05 PM, Ally came to get me for my ultrasound. She mentioned she didn't have a patient at the moment and knew I was waiting for the mammogram, so she went ahead and did the ultrasound first. I truly appreciated that. Ally has a beautiful spirit and was a bright spot in this experience. By 12:12 PM, I was back in the waiting room waiting for my mammogram. While waiting, another patient came in expressing frustration about how long the process was taking, which honestly summed up how I was feeling as well. I'm not exactly sure what time I was finally taken in for the mammogram, but I walked out at exactly 12:40 PM. From arrival to departure, I was there for 1 hour and 40 minutes, which is excessive. The staff overall was kind and friendly and the facility was clean, but I really dislike this system. It felt more like a clinic than a scheduled appointment-based facility. I've been to the Boca location, and the experience there was nothing like this. Even though this location is only 15 minutes from my house, I will do my best to avoid returning. read more

I had an appoint for an X-Ray and MRI at 9:20am and arrived at 9:00am. I was seen by a receptionist immediately without any wait time. There are 7 receptionist stations which definitely helps. Mine was friendly, efficient, and checked me in quickly. The waiting area is large with plenty of seating, accessible restroom, water fountain, and televisions. I have been to other Akumins where this was definitely not the case, this was all nice to see. I was called back from the waiting room at 9:46am, brought to the back to a second patient waiting area which I was called from at 10:06am at which time my MRI was performed. The technician was kind and professional. After the MRI I went to medical records to request a copy and was seen right away. That employee also very professional and processed my requests quickly. Overall, I was pleased with the facility, staff, and imaging. My only complaint is the hour long wait to be seen but unfortunately that seems to be common practice now and most medical facilities. read more

Making an appointment with this company was a frustrating experience. Regardless of the location you called, all appointment calls are handled by overseas reps with a heavy langue barrier. I spent 2 days and spoke with 6 different locations before setting an appointment with the 7th location I called, for a not so ideal time, nor location. Thankfully 2 days later an American based representative called me to confirm my appointment, review my needs, and explain some insurance details. She was incredibly helpful and after hearing about my poor experience, she went out of her way to get me a new appointment at a location and time which is more convenient for me. My appointment was this evening at 7pm at the Plantation location. Checking in went smoothly, everything was already provided to them by be via their online portal and documentation uploading services. At exactly 7pm I was seen, and my screening took 8 min, it was easy and fast. I was out of there before 7:15 The US based representative and the staff at the Plantation office are the reason this review is getting even 3 stars. Without that, this would have been way lower. The overseas representative unfortunately made scheduling an appointment extremely difficult/ constantly misunderstanding, having me repeatedly give them the same information over and over, and offering unrelated times and at locations I did not request. If it was frustrating for someone in their 30s, I can't imagine what elderly patients go through. read more

Hi....last evening i had a 7pm appointment at Akumin (Plantation) for a knee Xray. They asked me to arrive 15 minutes early, which i did. At 7:30 I asked what was taking so long and all they would say is that there are 3-people ahead of me. Finally at 8:10, after not being helped I asked for the acting manager who conveniently had stepped out. At that point i left too and will not go back. It was clear that Akumin overbooks their slots and has no regard for the patients schedule. Their service was cold and inexcusable and management seems indifferent to the backlog. I had an appointment for 830 pm and learned earlier in the day that I needed to leave town prior to my appointment for a medical emergency. I needed desperately to have the pre-op imaging completed because I didn't know when I could return to the area. Khadija was the receptionist who calmed my anxiety and assured me that she would do what she could to accommodate me. She made no promises other than that she would try. This is the second time I have come to this place for a mammogram. They are understaffed both times. I have waited over two hours only to find out that they are taking patients that were scheduled after me before me. When I arrived at the counter, I told them I had to go to work and if they thought that I would be out of here in less than two hours, they confirmed yes definitely it'll only be a few minutes. I'm glad I don't work for them because I don't like their few minutes. I had also made a couple phone calls ahead of time to make sure that there was enough time and they kept telling me 15 minutes. I drove an hour from Boca Raton for my appointment only to be told when I walked in that the machine needed to do my CT-A scan was not working and I needed to reschedule. My mom is visual impaired and when making the appointment I was advised of the things that were going to be done so once getting there I was already ready to do things for my mom to help her but instead the ladies did everything without me! When they came and got me I thought that it was time for me to help put her on the bed but instead she was completely finished! Like done all the testing was completed without me!! I came in 10 minutes before my appointment and I waited 1 1/2 hours without anyone even advising me of the reason for the delay People kept coming in after me and getting in quickly and there I waited When I asked how long it would be the young man was polite and said he would check but the rude woman next to him barked that they didn't do only x-rays at the facility. I am genuinely appalled at the customer service of the plantation location. Every experience I have here has been unpleasant. From customer service, wait time, and technician attitude. Today, November 1st, it started with the customer service receptionist, who didn't call back when her line was disconnected. I'm not even going to rant about how noisy her background noise was. With the line disconnecting, I had to call again. When the appointment was set, it was never expressed that prior records needed to be seen. It must be made clear if that is a part of the company protocol. Upon my arrival, the initial check-in personnel was quick and pleasant (the young lady in booth number one at 6:50) and the young man in booth number two (at 7:10). However, the problem began when a third person appeared to provide them assistance in booth number three. Her disposition because she was in a place in the facility where she felt like she wasn't needed was a problem because she called a client "four" times, and he (who wasn't there) didn't respond. Then, oh so clearly did I hear her discuss my situation - realized once it was me, she was talking about once she called me - to her peers. Had she not spoken to me egregiously, this letter would not have been written. I had to ask her to lower her voice while speaking to me. Still at an impasse, I said I would wait to talk to the technician when he finished with his client. When the technician arrived, his tone was short and dismissive, and it was as if my time was not as valuable as his. He started to raise his voice to the point where he was asked to lower it. The point is that people should not be treated as if they aren't as such. If the employees do not like where they are employed or what they do, they should not treat the people they serve as if their feelings and concerns don't matter. If the company's protocol is to be standard, then the company they hire in other places should also know that to be standard. Akumin has become a monopoly on medical testing, which is fine, but hire people who care about others and not because it's a paycheck! Ps... it's not a good look to be condescending towards potential clients as if we are not allowed to make same-day appointments! If I could give it a no star I would . This is by far the worst and most unsanitary office I have ever visited. My appointment was scheduled for 1:30 PM, and I arrived at 12:50 PM to check in. Around 3:00 PM, I had still not been called, so I went to the front desk and was informed that my appointment had been canceled for an unknown reason. They then put me back on the list and placed me in another room for an additional hour. When I spoke with the mammogram technician, she asked for paperwork, and I inquired what paperwork she meant, as no one had given me any. I had to go back to the front desk to obtain the paperwork, fill it out, and wait for another 20 minutes. This was four hours after my scheduled appointment time. I had two appointments at the Akumin on Sunrise Blvd in Plantation on the same day - mammogram at 2pm, ultrasound at 3pm. Arrived early, Waited over an hour, and I was never called for the 2pm mammogram appointment because they said they were running late. I was called for my 3pm ultrasound. After the 3pm appointment, they told me to wait in an inner waiting room and someone would call me for my 2pm mammogram appointment. That never happened. When I finally complained at 4:30p, the mammogram tech argued that she had indeed called me in the outside waiting room, and assumed I had left. The tech who put me in the inner waiting room never informed her that I was waiting there. I was told to pick up my disc and report after my appt. The girl in Records dept told me it wasn't ready and to come back the next day. When I came back, the girl in Records dept said she remembers telling me to come back, but she never got around to copying the disc. So I waited... and as she copied my disc, she noticed my primary doctor's name on the report, and started bad-mouthing my doctor in front of all the other patients waiting in the room. She then gave me my disc, but said the written report was not ready and I'd have to come back another day. This wasn't my first unpleasant experience there. I had gone for a heart scan several months earlier, and the woman that performed it was rude. As I left, I heard her calling my name amongst other patients waiting. I left with an uneasy feeling, wondering if she had mixed up my file with someone else's. I won't be returning. read more

Spouse's appointment was at 5:30 - told they had to arrive 15 min early. Waited another 90 min. Appt times don't mean much - patients are expected to be there, but zero accountability to be seen within 1-2 hours of that timeslot. I get an unprofessional vibe from this company and it scares me a bit. Fingers crossed they use licensed healthcare professionals and are accurately reading the MRIs, CTs and other scans my doctors are trusting. These scans often guide major life or death medical decisions. We can't afford the pricier hospital outpatient facilities, but if we could, I'd go elsewhere. read more
