I had been getting my mammograms at Memorial for years but unfortunately had to find another facility due them becoming out of network with my health insurance company. Akumin was in-network which was verified with them when I called to make an appointment. I believe this location has Saturday hours once a month. I had to get 5 years' worth of my mammogram records & films which I brought with me and gave to them to upload into their system. When I was checking out, the lady at the desk was very nice and asked if I wanted to wait for them to copy them or come back. I told her that I would come back another day. She told me that she would leave it off to the side and pointed to the area she was talking about. There were a couple of people in the waiting room waiting for their scan. I was called in shortly after arriving. The tech was efficient and I was out of there fairly quick. I got a glass nail file for Breast Cancer Month! I went back today to pick up my film CD and had a totally different experience. When I told them that I was picking up my CD, they told me to sign in and someone would be with me. After sitting for a few minutes, I got up to ask for my CD. The lady at the desk asked my name which I gave and also spelled out my last name. I saw a Manila folder with a CD paper clipped to the outside of it and asked if that was mine. She barely glanced over there and told me that it wasn't and proceeded to tell me that they just went through their old records and that's what was there. She looked in a big expandable folder, pulled out a CD and turned around to give it to me when she realized it wasn't mine. She looked through the rest of the expandable and told me they didn't have it. I asked her again if that Manila folder was mine because it looked like the envelope that I brought it in. She went over to look at it and shook her head no. She asked a coworker if they burned any CD's. That person must have recognized me from my prior appt and asked if I had a mammogram which I told her that I did. The coworker went right to the stack where I had been telling the other one about, picked up the Manila envelope and looked at it, then handed it to the lady who apparently couldn't read. She handed it to me and didn't even bother to apologize. This would have been a 4-star rating if I didn't have the bad experience today. read more

Been waiting for an MRI for over 2 hours and I'm still now waiting for the disk. Been here for a total of 4 hours. The frustration and anxiety I feel as the tears feel my eyes on this review! A complete hell of an experience to ever have to go through. Here for a mammogram since 830- currently 1215 and no service just the run around. Request for film and reports and additional referrals that could have been done way before my appointment are exhausting to say the least. The Mammogram tech Dana is everything wrong with healthcare. Her attitude and nonchalant demeanor is not what patients need facing possible life changing diagnostic results. I will never- ever come here or send my patients here. Care quality is decent, environment in the waiting room was a very chaotic experience; there's a front office staff who needs to improve on customer service, people skills and overall personality. The office space is extremely small, always packed with people, the people responsible for running this place either need to move into a bigger, nicely and organized space or shut this place down. A lot of clients are sent there and there's a lot of yelling back and forth with office staff. Terrible way to run a business. Please step up, book less appointments per day, upgrade the waiting area, and please post a sign outside of the premises. I will avoid this place as much as possible. Came here with my wife on a Saturday to get some images done. The place has a huge lobby/waiting area so I assume this place must be packed on weekdays. The chairs were placed feet apart so they are following the COVID guidance well. My wife checked in and within a few minutes, her name was called. I assume it was going to take a while so I started to catch a game on TV. Before I can watch until the end of the first quarter of the game, my wife is already out. She tells me the nurse was extremely nice and friendly to her. She said the nurse stayed with her from beginning to the end throughout the procedure, waited for her to finish dressing, and walked out with her. I can't seem to remember the last time receiving this kind of treatment in a medical facility. read more

One-star review for the most uncaring and unprofessional facility I've ever gone to for a procedure. I was scheduled for 9:30am this morning. I was told not to eat or drink prior, and also took a sedative to relax (as I was nervous). I arrived only to be told (very unapologetically) their computers were down, and they could not do any procedures until back up and running. My husband cleared his calendar to be able to drive me back and forth, and I had been sweating getting this test done for weeks. Now back to square one. They didn't even call back to reschedule. I was able to make an appt here for a MRI relatively quickly. Getting any type of imaging regardless of the reason can be a bit unnerving so you'd want to go to a comforting place. The ambiance of this place is super unwelcoming. The establishment as a whole is very run down and disorganized. The staff at the front very much hate their jobs and that's apparent in the way they treat the patients. The MRI technicians who handled my imaging were SUPER friendly and did a great job explaining everything. I don't remember their names but one was blonde and Ukrainian; she was super sweet and comforting. If it wasn't for them I'd be giving 1 star. Unfortunately I did have to wait almost 45 minutes after my appointment time to get my imaging done. Very frustrating. It has been a week and I haven't gotten my results. When I try to create a patient account online, it tells me to contact support. I contact support and receive no support. Trying to call to get your results? Don't waste your time. No one will answer. And if you leave a voicemail, no one will get back to you. I had no choice but to come here due to cost. My copay here cost $70 whereas at a hospital it was upwards of $500. Don't want to return and hope I never have to again. Don't come here. read more

I was told by my doctor I needed to book my first ever bone density test so I originally scheduled it at the Akumin location on Sunrise Blvd. in Plantation because I have been going there for mammograms for at least 10 years. I had 2 previous appointments that were cancelled by Akumin; so when the scheduling staff called to reschedule me, the woman on the phone was kind enough to suggest I try a different location & found this one also in Plantation. I explained I preferred an evening or late afternoon appointment because I am a teacher; and it is impossible right now to get class coverage at my school if you are out. I booked a 5pm appointment; however I was again called a few days before the scheduled date and told they were shortening their hours and I would have to reschedule for a 4th appointment! This time the scheduling woman suggested an 8 am appointment & she assured me I would be finished by 8:30 am & I would be able to make it to work on time. Well it seems the 4th time was the charm! I arrived at 7:50 am & there were already about 5 or 6 people in the waiting area. I felt a little discouraged; however a woman came in to the lobby & announced that another woman and I needed to walk to the adjacent office which was the Women's Center. Once I went in the Women's Center I filled out minimal paperwork & was called back to a new waiting area. (This center is only for women with an all female staff; so there is no awkwardness while awaiting some types of testing in a robe.). I didn't need to change in to a robe but I witnessed a few women who were yo to change. They also had a changing area and lockers to lock up your valuables during testing. Once I got to the 2nd waiting area, I only waited about 5 minutes for a technician to come & get me. The technician explain to me how the test worked, and other than taking off my shoes there was no prep on my part. The test was fast and pain free! I was in and out of the office in less than 20 minutes, and made it to work on time. I would highly recommend this location for women, because they seem to know what they are doing. There is plenty of parking and it is easy to find! The staff was friendly & efficient. read more

My husband went in for a scheduled MRI at 4 o'clock after waiting an hour they said some thing crazy about a tech leaving and he would be seen soon then another hour goes by and they say he needs a different script so he has to go back to his doctor and then come back at 2 o'clock the next day after taking the day off work for this. Complete incompetence and they clearly screwed up and didn't want to wait to see him. Called back and talked to whoever schedules appointments Which clearly is an outsourced company and they said that the prescription was actually received at 5 o'clock even though they told him it wasn't. I don't even know how this business is still functioning and I would never trust them with anything of a health concern considering how useless they are. I had always came here for whatever services I needed when it was DPI. Especially my mammogram. They were always so nice, so friendly and on time. Since they are now Akumin I was hesitant to visit. Bad experiences at the Sunrise location. I can only tell you how great this place is now it is unbelievable from my appointment time to procedure which was a foot X-ray. The front desk amazing no wait whatsoever taken on time. The tech who did the x-ray very friendly, considerate and helpful. THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Stay far away if at all possible. A medical company with a D rating with the Better Business Bureau should be enough of a warning about poor business practices. My 9:30AM pre-surgery MRI (8 days prior to surgery with Thanksgiving in between) was cancelled with no notification until 2:42PM the afternoon prior. No attempt to contact me outside of notifying me that they were cancelling my appointment because they were not able to verify insurance. If a competent person actually contacted the number on the back of the card or contacted me maybe I could have resolved the issue, but their BEST PRACTICE was to CANCEL the appointment with no option of retrieving the slot. read more

Most incompetent establishment. I was there for a CT scan. My appointment was at 6:30 PM. I was there 15 minutes early. To my surprise I was waiting till 8 pm for my turn. I finally gave up and left the establishment without getting CT scan done. I asked the front clerk multiple times about when my turn will come but they couldn't help. Normally I'd go to the ER due to COVID-19 and high risk my physician and I chose this location as they could do everything. Even though the order stated STAT no urgency on their part was provided. While waiting nearly 3 hours with an appointment I witnessed other complaints made me focus on my reason for being there. Had to let the tech know not to do one thing without getting results from another. Vain was traversed after I was done. I have been going here for a number of years and their scheduling system is getting progressively worse. When my doctor calls in a test, I get bombarded with calls to schedule an appt, but when I call, I am on hold for at least two hours. If you make an appt request thru the website they said they would call back in 24 hours, but it is more like 48. I need to find another clinic to provide diagnostic services. My MRI was scheduled as the last appt of the day, as I waited I made an appointment for another diagnostic test that my physician had ordered for me (I had all my paperwork for both tests with me). The front office employee stated that they didn't need the paperwork. When I arrived for the second diagnostic test, they needed the paperwork, which I did not bring this time. After sitting there for an hour and Akumin receiving the orders via fax from the doctor I was told that I would need to be rescheduled since I missed my appointment time. Services at this center are disguising. I was treated more humiliating that I've ever been treated in my whole life! From the first moment I came the front desk lady treated me as from above: talking very imposing, saying that I have to have my prescription with me even I have uploaded that prior on the web. However, I had to be one hour prior to my appointment, and I came way more earlier (one hour and a half). So I sent my boyfriend back home to pick up my prescription. Meantime, even that I told the lady from front desk that I will bring the paper on time, she canceled my appointment stating that I will leave the technician behind. I have respectfully asked her to reconsider because I will be on time, but she did not want to even listen. My boyfriend came back with the prescription and at 8.54(my appointment was at 10.10) I tried to handle to her, but she took another patient. After she finished with that patient she let me on hold for another 2 minutes and only reacted when I asked her about my situation. She started yelling that she have to go in the computer and input my data again because she canceled my appointment. I was still on time. 9.02. However she said I have to do my copay. When I wanted to do Apple Pay, she said is not acceptable. So I asked my boyfriend to give me the card to pay and I put on the table. But then, another reason : she said I threw the card to her, which is not true! She maid everything possible to lead me out from my appointment scheduled 10 days prior. I asked to talk to manager. Which promised me she will resolve and call me back in a few minutes. It took a little longer, but she put me back on the schedule.I know I did nothing wrong but yet, my human rights were stepped on their feet and I was treated not only Without dignity but disgusting and racist by that Nikita front office lady!!! After reading so many negative reviews I was hesitant to go to this location for my MRI. However I was pleasantly surprised upon my arrival to see that there were no seats lined up outside in the Florida heat, there weren't a bunch of people waiting in the lobby not social distancing. No double booking! I was the only one there when I went in and one person was waiting when I came out. I was clean. Hand sanitizer was available. The young lady at the front desk was welcoming and pleasant. The tech that did the test was even more pleasant, making sure my belongings were locked up and that I was comfortable at all times. She even went as far as to wrap the metal jewelry in my hair with medical tape since I couldn't remove them before the test. I'll definitely be back. read more

Ugh Ok so this didn't start the way I would have liked but once I was in the room for my test, it did become more "professional". First appointment (which took me 2 months to get) staff checked me in, took my co-pay, and after a 50-minute wait informed me that there was a scheduling error and they couldn't do the CT scan. When I showed up 2 days later for my rescheduled CT scan staff could not find my name in the computer and then informed me that my appointment had been cancelled because of technical issues. When was the last time you left an MRI appointment in tears? Where you were called a liar and ungrateful? Where you are told that God would punish me for lying? Where the facility is in disrepair? In need of paint and a ceiling filled with water stains?Where you were given wrong date, time and location of your service? Receptionist said "that happens a lot?" Where you give them details of implants along with a card stating that it's MRI compatible and they don't believe you? I urge you to stay away from Akumen. After reading many of the negative reviews about this place, I was reluctant to go there for my CT scan. But my doctor uses them exclusively, so I booked my appointment. That was the worst part. The person booking my appointment said that there was an issue with the doctor's orders and that he'd straighten it out and get back to me. He never did. I had to contact my doctor's office to contact Akumin and confirm the orders and the appointment. I arrived 15 minutes early, as requested, signed in and sat down. Within five minutes I was called to the front desk and given a form to fill out. After completing and returning the form, it took just a couple or minutes for them to take me back for the scan. The technician was very friendly and efficient. She really made this an easy and pleasant experience. All in all, the whole experience, from the time that I arrived until the time that I left took less than twenty minutes. I was quite pleasantly surprised! read more

We made another appointment and when i came i was told they still didn't have images, no one called me to cancel my appointment or to let me know they weren't in. I am writing to say thank you to all the entire staff at Akumin, especially during our COVID crisis. They are following the CDC guidelines and protocols to ensure everyone's safety. I have been a patient for a long time and on my last visit in October, 2021 I had an MRI and an MRA and was assisted by the Radiology Technician Cheryl K. She was the most polite, compassionate and helpful person in ensuring my safety and comfort throughout my procedure. She has wonderful customer service care skills. The records division are always so helpful when I need to get my imaging results. They are spot on with their positions there. When I get my annual mammograms and ultrasounds, the nurses and technicians are always pleasant and friendly and always take time to answer any questions or concerns that I may have. The front desk staff have always been able to assist with courtesy and respect and always answer any questions I have regarding my insurance and billing. This Akumin center in Plantation is usually very busy. It is best to make an appointment. I want to wish you all a very Happy Holiday season and I say Thank You for all of your wonderful health care service, especially during our Covid crisis. It is never pleasant needing dissgnostic testing. However, when a testing facility makes your experience go so smoothly, it takes all the sting out of the reality of your situation. I have had way too much experience in this arena but I can honestly say I have never been anywhere where the process went so incredibly smoothly. I kinda had to ask myself, "I am in The Twilight Zone?", because it was so utterly unreal to me. From the minute I walked in to when I was on my way out it was a completely seamless process. Everyone was extremely pleasant and professional. I actually got the impression that they were waitIng for me to arrive because they were so ready, willing and able to see me and get the job done. They used warmed up gel on me for the ultrasound which I very much appreciated as I was in considerable pain in the area that required testing. I also got the impression that the technician genuinely cared about my medical situation and was concerned about my follow up appointment with my doctor. How rare is that? Extremely! And to top it all off, I got a call from them while in the car on the way to dinner asking me if my Mom left her thermos in their waiting room. Yeah, she did. Gotta retrieve that tomorrow! read more

This was my first time visit and I felt it was the wrong choice. I was scheduled for a CT-A ( imaging of the heart with dye). My appointment was at 4:15, so I got there earlier. The staff were very friendly and check-in was a breeze. After waiting an hour in the waiting room I was escorted for my test, the tech was also very friendly. The issue was that my heart rate (64-68) was too high to do the exam and had to call a doctor for an order to give me a pill to lower my heart rate. Since my test was scheduled for 4:15, don't you think the doctor (that was off-site) would be on call? The technician called him several times, she had already inserted the access IV. I waited in the waiting room with a blanket and gown on, until I finally became frustrated. I asked the tech what she thought the doctor would ever call, she said we could reschedule. At that point I was furious..it was already 3.5 hours later. I left and I am suppose to go Monday, 3 days later. I have no scheduled appointment she just told me to be there at 11 am. I am a Medicare patient, meaning that this procedure needed a referral and an approval from the insurance company. I have no choice but to go back. I hope you can see my frustration. The answer to this is to have a mandatory doctor on call in the future or prescribe the pill to take before you go for your test. NO one has a heart rate of 60-63 unless you are an Olympic athlete!!!! My second frustration is that this is the only outpatient facility "Devoted" insurance has to offer for this procedure, traveling 35 minutes to arrive there and the latest is, if you do go to a hospital for the procedure, there is a great possibility that not do you pay your co-pay, you could be hit with a "facility fee" not covered by insurance. read more

I arrived at this location at 4:00 pm for a 4:15 pm appointment get a mammogram. My boob didn't hit the mammogram machine until 6:45. The first hour I sat in the lobby freezing as they had the air turned to North Pole. The second hour or so I took a nap in the waiting room which is where the take u to trick you into thinking you are about to be serviced. Other patients complained that this wait time is common. This is no way an acceptable way to run a business of any type. BTW not one staff member apologized for the delay. I was pissed with this entire experience . read more

On 9/3/2020 I went for 2 tests: a pelvic US & a liver cat scan. It was all scheduled nicely. US first, then 1 hr later the cat scan because I had to drink a big cup of lemonade like solution. I was called in for both appts in a fairly timely manner. The US appt went smoothly, tech was nice. Now the cat scan appt is when things went haywire. The young tech did not know how to find my veins to inject iodine. She took a stab at it (literally) & blew my vein. its been a week & only now the huge bruise is starting to fade. Anyway she called in some 1 else to try to find my vein n she too failed. I told both of those gals that I have rolling veins & you have to be very good to get it or use the big vein at the back of my hand. Well the second gal went to a smaller vein in my hand & as I said was unsuccessful. That's was it for me. I'm not a pin cushion! I told them FORGOT IT! I'll reschedule n walked out. I'm NOT rescheduling with them of course. I will also add that I've been to this facility 3x in the past for mammos & ea time it all went smoothly. If you need to be stuck with a needle for a cat scan or anything, avoid this place unless your veins are clearly labeled, come with a road map n protrude. Also make sure they send your results to the correct Dr. They sent my results to the wrong dr. Other than that this facility is clean, usually not crowded, & you can get an appt in a timely fashion. 3 stars overall. read more
