I had a taste 4 falafel today so I read the reviews on yelp and there was a review stating they eat at this place every week. I had to try it. Im asking myself WHY????. The falafel Plate was horrible. I don't know what that flavor was. The Shawarma Sandwich was wet and soggy the Lamb and the chicken. I did enjoy the pita bread, the hummus and the white sauce. I ordered the mint lemonade to enjoy along with the rest but they delivered to me instead the thickest orange juice I have ever ever had. I must say yelp didnt help me today so I WILL NOT BE REORDERING EVER. read more

We love Al Aqsa Restaurant. It is nondescript, tucked into a non-script strip of stores on Hylan Boulevard. The food is authentic, we usually go with some sort of falafel flatter. It tastes fresh. I have been coming here for several months since moving to Staten Island. In the past I would usually get their Lamb and Chicken Shawarma Sandwiches which were around $12. I didn't care much for the Pita but the meat, toppings, and sauce was really good. I recently wanted to try something different so I got a Lamb Shawarma Plate for $22. Much to my surprise it consisted mostly of rice, vegetables and white sauce with HARDLY ANY MEAT. I was really disappointed that they would charge $22 for something like this. This shouldn't have been more than $15. I don't think Staten Island is the place to explore ethnic cuisines in New York. You are much better off going to an Arabic or Turkish restaurant in Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey or even Queens. Instead of coming here you're better off to going to Istanbul Bay or Karam in nearby Bay Ridge. I will not be coming back to this restaurant again. read more

Just terrible. How can you screw up lamb and chicken Shawarma on rice? They had to have gotten every burnt piece that was left on the bottom and scraped up all the junk that nobody wanted and put it in our dishes. The meat could not be any more dry and more burnt. All your pickled vegetables were bitter and sour, not salty and enjoyable. I regret wasting my time and money and space in my stomach for food will never order again. My suggestion is stay with the Greek people. It's quality opposed to whatever this was. read more
