    Hummus
    Cirwan S.

Everyone told me this was their favorite authentic Mediterranean food. My buddies brought me here because they wanted me to try it. We got the hummus & egg plant salad to start things off. Hummus was good but The egg plant salad was the best I ever had. Then we shared the breakfast, bastrma & eggs which was phenomenal. I got the combo plate, which is was packed with rice and meats. Came with two beef kabobs, chicken tikka, & chicken kabob. So yummy all the meats were flavorful. My buddy got the shawarma sandwich and loved it. They use fresh bread made daily. My other buddy got the biryani and loved it as well. I had a couple scoops of it and it was delicious. The restaurant was cleans and service was great. Definitely coming back here to try some more items.

We've been wanting to come to a good home style middle Easter food. We had some here today it was so delicious. It was recommended by our friend from Iraq and it did not disappoint. Will be back soon.

The food was deliciously tasty, all of our orders were just made to perfection. Visiting from Phoenix Arizona and we will definitely be back. My husband is Iraqi and this place reminded him of home cooked meals. The service is ok and our chai did not come until we asked about it 2-3 times after ordering it.

    دجاج مشوي Grilled Chicken

Unfortunately, this is one of the worst places I have ever visited in my life. About a year ago, I ordered grilled chicken and it arrived undercooked. We found blood inside it and threw it in the trash. Today we repeated the experience, even though we were fasting and in a hurry because we came from Oregon County and drove for hours until we reached San Diego. We ordered chicken and biryani rice, and the pictures are in front of you -- it was the same old problem. We also threw the food in the trash. The biryani was soaked in oil, and it was clear that the rice was old and very bad. Worse than the food was the treatment. When they know you are Muslim, they treat you in the worst possible way. Very racist, contemptuous, and disrespectful people with no manners. The service and behavior are extremely bad.

    Kebob

I had no expectations eating at the restaurant, but wow....it was amazing. The kebob and lamb shank were crazy delicious. The owner's heart is as full as the plates they serve. He treated us with complementary tabouli and side dish. We enjoyed the food so so much that we ordered extra dishes to go in-spite of our 2 hour drive.

Lamb Shank Dish with Rice & Sauces and Eggplant Salad

Family ambiance with amazing food. Quick and friendly service. The lamb was so flavorful and tender. The highlight, and possibly new favorite dish, was the eggplant salad (grilled eggplant with peppers and cucumber) . So delicious! Huge portions as well. Definitely coming back.

Amazing Iraqi restaurant that makes food fresh to order. One of my meals there felt like it took 30-40 minutes just for breakfast. But normally I do DoorDash and not bother with the wait. Food is always so delicious and I love to be the only Caucasian whenever I frequent. I am a regular even though I don't post all pictures.

    Dolma Plate Every Friday
    Charlene L.

Very good. I got the dolma which is only sold on Fridays. It was just like how my friend's and neighbors moms make it haha. Very delicious. The dolma is warm and there are the onions, eggplants, and zucchini stuffed in it as well. I also got kubba saray baghdadiya and baba ganoush. I got bread with it and it was fresh and an amazing match with everything. I am so glad I went here. Will totally be back for the dolma.

As a result, the restaurant was not crowded, but they were out of several menu items. The restaurant is spacious and very color coordinated. The armrests on the chairs are at a slightly odd height for me but very aesthetic. This restaurant is family-run by a father and son duo. The father was cooking while his son was on the front end of things. The service was super friendly and I really appreciated that he explained the menu thoroughly to us. They were out of beef kabob and chicken shawarma (my go-to). I opted for the liver plate with fries, and also tried a bite of beef shawarma. We were also served a complimentary lentil soup as an appetizer. The soup was DELICIOUS. Soft and warm and comforting, with vermicelli bits in it. It was incredibly flavorful and soothing, something I would crave on cold days, sick days, any days really. I will definitely be finding recipes and attempting to make this myself. Middle Eastern places always have the most delicious, freshly fried fries, 10/10 no notes especially with ketchup (sue me, I'm basic XD). My grilled liver hit the spot. I think my one critique would be that because the pieces were quite large, some parts were quite tough. The roast onions and tomatoes had a good smoky char, and the portions were generous. After I polished off my first cube, the son swung by and set a grilled jalapeño down in front of me, saying that his father recommended parting it with the liver. It's personal touches like this that make me really love a local, family owned place! And his father was definitely right about the jalapeño. That and the pickled cabbage were the perfect complement for the rich, earthy liver. Prices were fair and portions were huge. The service was standout here as well. I would LOVE to come back and try their lamb dishes, and I definitely anticipate updating to a 5 star review then.

I had a long and hard day today and needed something to give me energy, tasted good, and didn't cost a fortune so I chose this place. I called to place my order to go on the phone and ordered a Chicken Tikka wrap. I informed the guy on the phone that I didn't want the turnips in my wrap but asked if I could get tomatoes and he said yes. I was happy he accommodated me with no problem. He said it would take 10 minutes. So, when I drove there, just like he said it was ready to go. I was so hungry instead of taking it to go home, I chose to eat it there. There are plenty of tables inside the restaurant and they have a few tables outside. Indoors they had comfortable air conditioning so it was pleasant. I also love their selection of music they play. Some of the music I noticed was R & B and also mellow jazz. They have a sauce station whereby they do not charge for their sauces as I know some places do . They do not charge here which is fantastic. They have creamy garlic sauce, Tahini sauce, Tzatziki sauce, and Ranch sauce. Plus, they also have hot sauces in bottles available for those that like a spicy kick to their food. I love how they keep this restaurant clean and tidy too which makes me feel good about keeping their place hygienic. Sahara Taste of the Middle East is the perfect restaurant for outstanding food that is authentic, serving healthy/good portion sizes, professional staff, taking pride in cleanliness, and upbeat music.
