Doctor Al Bouz and staff are very friendly and professional. He has been my primary doctor for the last 4 years and always has a listening ear for my concerns and what's going on with mind and body. He doesn't jump to medication which I respect very much as I try to stay away from taking meds of any kind unless really needed. So as long as u never need a referral, and u can ignore the fact that a couple of his M.As talk and act like they are in high school then u will be fine here. I've been with Dr. Al Boyz now for several years. As an internist, he's skilled in identifying a lot of issues and asks helpful questions to come up with an accurate diagnosis and most effective treatment. He cares enough to go against the conveyor belt 5 minute limit mentality to answer questions and listen carefully to concerns for the best outcome. I've had probably 7 different Primary physicians over a period of 50 years, and Nahel Al Bouz is far and away the best. I'd recommend his service to all friends and family. read more

First visit here, definitely seems like a down to earth Doctor. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I don't understand the other bad reviews as I hate Dr offices, but I actually feel okay here. I came in for back pain and they're helping out a lot. Haven't had a primary care physician in about 10 yrs and this office is definitely making the cut. Thank you. read more

The doctor is very personable and takes an interest in my complaints, etc. However, you can forget dealing with his office staff. They seem to be unable to answer any questions, get a referral in a timely manner, quickly respond to appointment requests or return calls. They are not rude but they are not attentive, and seem to be preoccupied with other matters. When trying to call for an appointment you are put on hold for what seems to be an eternity. His front office does not to know how to run doctor's office. This office does not have email capability, meaning when I needed to send my recent test results from an emergency stay at a hospital in Orange County, I had to fax 21 pages from copies I had to make from the hospital's portal. I have no clue if he will ever see them or contact me for an appointment to follow up. I am surprised that the doctor continues to function with such a bad front office, which is the first (possibly the last) contact a patient will have with the doctor's office. read more

I haven't seen Mr Al Bouz in about 4 years, I'm just speaking on my personal experience. I've only seen him once and I have an upcoming appointment this month. Since it's been a long time I decided to see his yelp reviews. From my experience, Mr Al Bouz is an easygoing Dr. He actually listened to me and actually seemed to want to help and was very nice. That's kinda rare, most Doctors can be so cold hearted. I'm hoping for another good trip when I go this month. Maybe I'll update this review after my next appointment. read more

Dr Al bouz is only about the money. He will give you referral after referral and make you get test done when not necessary. It shouldn't take a month in a half to get an appointment. He is so overbooked because he is Greedy! His office is so small, it has 9 or 10 chairs in it...ridiculous. He won't refill your medications on time, he will hold them hostage and mind you, medications that you need like insulin or blood pressure medications. He's my primary doctor and all he does when I have an appointment is look at the results and send me with a new referral or test, that's how he makes his money. What does he actually do? Poor excuse for a doctor, he's a quack. I will be so glad to change doctors when my benefits come around,,,sheesh!!!! read more

I must say I was very impressed. I had just had my insurance change to an HMO, so I was expecting the worst. The office was very nice and clean, and everyone seemed very friendly. When I met Dr. Al Bouz, I was extremely impressed, he was very very nice and took his time with me. My husband has been going to Dr. Bouz for the past couple of years. He is always thorough with his visits, never rushes and always make sure that your questions are answered. Dr. Bouz will always err on the side of caution, so if he has a concern he will not hesitate to send you to a specialist. He also has a pleasant bedside manner. read more

I had issues receiving proper treatment for my asthma attacks with my previous doctor, causing me to go to the ER multiple times so I went on the hunt for a new doctor. I went to Yelp to look for doctors within my plan to see there reviews, Dr Bouz had such wonderful reviews I decided to switch to him. The first visit, he was wonderful, very nice and helpful. But my 2nd visit, I guess he didn't like what I came in for, he didn't ask questions about my history to try figure things out, was upset that I looked on the internet for information on what was going on with me, they were medical sites btw, and I had to keep asking for a change in my reflux medication to see if that would help my situation. The next day, I felt really odd and called off work, I started having issues with my heart rate, I felt weird all day, my heart rate at rest maintained at 113. I didn't want to call his office, for one I didn't want to seem like a bothersome Pt, I don't usually have issues. But the following day, when I checked my blood pressure, before medication, was 132/109 with a heart rate of 132. I took my medication and waited 1 1/2hrs, started feeling weird all over again, nausea and dizzy. Tried checking my blood pressure again, and like the day before, my machine couldn't read my heart rate or bp. I didn't want to, but I called his office and left a message this morning about what was going on, at that time, I checked my heart rate and it was 81 but now, I've checked it again and it's back up to 114. This is concerning to me, my father has A Fib that caused a stroke just a year ago. Not to mention I'm still having GI issues that were never discussed because of his attitude a couple days ago that I would love addressed. Still waiting for a return call, ??? I don't know where to turn to have a doctor that actually cares about his patients anymore, I feel like they just want healthy ones!!! UPDATE: I had to go to Urgent Care for the issue written above, they did an EKG on me and I was able to look at it, the Dr said it was both abnormal but normal as well, there was something going on in the background. Now, when I saw the results, was no different than previous EKG's I've had over the years only previous Dr's have told me they were normal. I have had increased heart rate multiple times over the years but not one Dr has asked me ANY questions about my history, if it had ever been an issue before, notta. So, the urgent care Dr made an assumption about one of my meds that I have been on for about 3 months and said it was the issue as soon as he saw it, it is an ADHD medication, but he did not recommend me to discontinue it either since it was working for me. I had gone in for nausea and dizziness, was given a prescription for zofran, I am an RN and know that yes it can be given for nausea but it is considered an antiemetic, to prevent vomiting.... I was not having an issue of vomiting. I would have preferred a prescription for phenergan. Now, since Dr's just don't seem to listen anymore, I decided I would try and figure what was going on myself. Dr Bouz had given me Ranitidine and protonix for my reflux (GERD), urgent care Dr had to tell me they are not to be taken at the same time, would have been nice if Dr Bouz or the pharmacy would have told me that. Anyways, did some alterations over the next couple days with the ranitidine and protonix and realized, I felt so much better, meaning no more nausea or dizziness when i discontinued the protonix and at least for the nausea and dizziness, and even my HR has improved since stopping this med. Now, I am still having issues with the reflux (GERD), I have had it for about 15 years so I guess it could be expected, but did not get a referral to a GI for this until my final visit recently. I still have some issues that need resolved, but since Dr Bouz felt my labs were fine that they didn't even need to be addressed. Hmmmmm, I would like some answers and some possible medication changes to test a theory, but didn't want to go there with Dr Bouz, I'd rather go to someone that is willing to listen to me and ask me the appropriate questions so we can work together. I am the patient, I am an RN, and I darn well feel that I should have a voice in my medical care/treatment. So, I am going back to my original Dr that I had seen many years ago before an insurance change that I was most happy with. He listened to me, he worked with me to find solutions, and even when an issue was resolved he'd ask me about it months later just to make sure I was still doing well. I have heard there are some issues with his staff, saw complaints on Yelp about it, BUT... I'd rather have a Dr that I am really happy with and deal with the crappy staff as best I can, than to have Dr that has decent staff but not liking the Dr at all. I want to be happy with the care I receive, I want a voice, especially since I am not ignorant when it comes to medical stuff, and Dr Bouz, is just not that Dr!! read more

My husband saw Al Bouz and was pleased with him. I had just switched from Kaiser and was looking for a new doctor. I made an appointment to see him. I arrived 15 minutes early to fill out all necessary paperwork and then I waited.... And waited... And waited. Over an hour later (AFTER my scheduled appointment time) I was called back. I then waited in the exam room for another 30 minutes before the doctor came in to see me. It was all routine, quick physical and blood work ordered. The appointment lasted 10minutes. By the time i got my lab orders from the nurse and I got into my car, I had been there for over 2 hours. This is WITH a scheduled (weeks in advance) appointment. They told me that I needed to schedule another appointment so that the doctor could read my labs. Part of me thought that was great! That way I know for sure everything came back ok, but the other part of me wondered if this was only so that they can bill my insurance for another office visit. Even though the wait was long I know that sometimes things pop up and I thought I'd give it another chance. I did my labs and went back for my scheduled appointment. That time I only waited for 45 minutes in the lobby and 20 minutes in the exam room. The Dr. came in and read off my labs and told me everything was fine (a 5 minute conversation). I told him that I was going to be going on a trip and I get panic attacks on flights and asked if he could prescribe me something for it. He obliged and prescribed me 2 pills. One for the flight there and one for the flight back which was perfect and all I needed. That was 6 months ago. This past Monday I called the office because I will be leaving Friday for another trip and left a message for the Dr. asking if he could refill my prescription for TWO pills for travel. I was on hold for 45 minutes before his nurse even took the message. His nurse called me back the next day. I missed the call and called right back. After another 45 minute wait she told me that the doctor said I had to make an appointment and be seen before he would refill my prescription. And then the nurse said I'd need to wait and be put BACK on hold and wait for the receptionist to check his schedule for an appointment. After I waited 45 minutes to talk to her. I'm so confused. I SAW him already for this issue. I didn't get an entire bottle of pills (he gave me TWO the first time). I asked for TWO pills for a plane ride. This would only be the second time in 6 months. I'm not on any medications, and I'm healthy. I'm clearly not addicted to any medication but he's making me schedule an office visit only so I can tell him AGAIN that I get panic attacks on planes. I don't understand what changed from the last time I told him that or what he can do for me other than refill my prescription. This is just another way for him to Bill my insurance and make more money. I was really hopeful that he actually cared about his patients. I was willing to overlook the long waits on the phone and at scheduled appointments for a good doctor who cares. This clearly isn't the place. He will make you make an office visit for EVERYTHING. My husbands cholesterol was slightly high and AlBouz has been having him follow up with labs and office visits every 3 months. I thought he was being extra cautious, but now I know it's only because he wants the insurance money. I can't believe how blatantly corrupt this guy is. Bottom line... Amazing, caring, and honest. Best doctor around. I am lucky to be his patient. My grandmother and the rest of my family go to him. Everyone loves him and never has anything bad to say. This office is the worst. Dr. will not renew my prescriptions, and switches up my medication without telling me, office staff can't even pronounce the names of prescriptions, nor did they return phone calls, or know anything. I inherited this doctor from my Doctor Who retired. New doctor talks smack about my previous doctor, Which is unacceptable to me. Do not waste your time seeing this doctor or dealing with his completely incompetent staff. read more

I was assigned this doctor by my insurance. I called up to get an appointment and the earliest they had was December. Whatever sickness I have, if serious, I could have been done for. This review is not based on the dr, but the office. But since I can't see the dr, I may have to hit up an urgent care for now. I wish I could give zero stars. This is the worst doctor that I have ever had in my life! My primary doctor was on vacation or something so I was scheduled to see this doctor. I don't even know where to begin with this terrible office visit. My appointment that was made a month ago was at 3:20pm. First, I just want to specify that I'm a patient person. I sat in that stuffy extremely small box of an office lobby for 2 1/2 hours. I went to the front desk and the receptionist told me the long wait was because it was Friday and the doctor had something to do with the hospital. Huh! So I waited and waited for 20 more minutes then finally got to the room where an unexperienced medical assistant with a bad attitude. While in the room I waited for another 30 minutes. At this point with my appointment of 3:20pm was now 3 plus hours. So finally he comes in and tells me he's sorry but has to rush because he's behind. I could not believe it! He barely looked my way and when I was explaining why I was there he wasn't even listening. I had test results that revealed high cholesterol and liver problems yet this dude brushed me off, ordered another lab that I didn't need because he was looking at my lab of barely two weeks ago right in front of him. Needless to say he literally said he had to go and the MA would bring another lab test. Fyi: I waited 20 more minutes. When the MA came in she asked me for my insurance card again. I'm like wtf! I asked her why and she replied that she needed it for a psychiatric referral. What!!! I said I don't need that then she ran out the room and left me for another 10 minutes and handed me the lab request form. So let's recap: l paid $20 copay to wait over 3 hours plus to be seen. My results said I have high cholesterol and liver issues yet he orders another panel even though he was looking at my results. He told me he'd be rushing me because he's backed up and was out the room in 4 minutes. MA gives wrong information and runs out the room. Another appointment was made for one month but for what exactly? I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN! I'm so upset that my insurance was billed for this terrible doctor experience. STAY AWAY! Now I have to find another doctor hoping that my conditions don't worsen because he did nothing to help me. I'm so traumatized. read more

This doctor has poor diagnostic ability. He treats the symptoms without identifying the mail illness. My mother was his patient for about 2 years. He treated her for anemia, and was put on medications\, such as Iron, to control the anemia symptoms. Also, she was on medications for hypertension and high cholesterol. The treatment continued until my mother was hospitalized for lung infection, and under Al Bouz's care. He did not order appropriate test to identify the ailment. Toward the end of mother's hospitalization, the infectious disease specialist, ordered a PET scan which revealed colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver. Al Bouz encouraged my family to let her be comfortable so she can die peacefully. After discharge from the hospital, I switched her doctor and also took her to an oncologist. The treatment helped my mother to live another year and half. If Al Bouz would have ordered a PET scan when my mother first visited him, my mother could have lived much longer. If you are a senior citizens, especially if you are above 80 years old, do not go to this "doctor." read more

Saw a bunch of good reviews, went ahead to try this doctor out. Called and was on wait for 24 minutes and 13 seconds. The person who answered was nice. Attempted to make an appointment with Al Bouz, and was told that he was scheduling until mid September, which is a month and half away. But his assistant DO can take me this week. Checked out his assistant DO on reviews and saw poor ones. Al Bouz may be a good doctor (from reviews) but i can not wait almost two months to see my primary doctor. My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Bouz for a couple of years. We find Dr. Bouz to be caring, thorough and very knowledgeable. He takes his time with us - goes over medications, asks questions and schedules all the necessary labs. Once my husband's labs came back abnormal and he called his cell at 7:30 p.m. - clearly after hours. Other doctors would have waited until the next day. I cannot speak for the actual doctor himself, and the other yelp reviews lead me to believe he is a fantastic physician. However, I spent 20 minutes on hold today with the office just to see if they had any open appointments for Wednesday. That was my only question. I was told to wait while she checked the schedule. I waited on hold for 10 minutes until I decided that maybe someone forgot about me (not a big deal, it's happened before). I hung up and called again. I was then told that no, I was not forgotten about and she was getting to all the calls. I was fine with that and waited on hold for another 10 minutes. Keep in mind this was just so she could "check the schedule for Wednesday". When she got back on the line I repeated why I was waiting and she said she needed to "check the schedule" and she'd give me a call back. I gave her my number. She did not call me by the end of the day. I just have to ask, how long does it take to look at a schedule on a computer for two days from now? I understand being busy, but just do what you're say you're going to do. read more
