Fun lively place I called at 7 for a 9:00 reservation on a Saturday night. We arrived and where seated with in five minutes at the worst table next to the kitchen. It didn't matter the staff here was amazing and friendly. I had rigatoni in a pumpkin cream sauce perfect in October covered with thin sliced prosciutto. My wife had the osso Bucco with grilled vegetables. We shared the small charcuterie plate and two deserts and a pitcher of the house wine. Every thing was fantastic. After several days of French food, we were dying for some Italian! Yelp helped us find this cute and quaint Italian place off a main street in Montmartre. We ordered aglio e olio and spaghetti a la campagna. Both--excellent! We eat amazing Italian food in NYC from top chefs, and this restaurant was as good or better. Yum! It's also important to add how sweet the restaurant team was in the way they took care of us. We found this place on our final night in Paris but had we found it sooner, we may have returned every night. So cute! read more

First thought: Meh. Not bad, but also not the best Italian food ever (which, IMO goes to a spot in Florence, which name I of course can not recall). I ordered the carbonera pasta. Let's rate it mediocre. The service was great though. Absolutely amazing place. I've spent time in Italy and this meal is a top contender for my favorite Italian restaurant, without a doubt. I got the ravioli and my boyfriend got the seafood linguine and both were delicious! The staff was welcoming and friendly and our lack of french proved to be no problem when making a reservation, ordering, etc. I will say that this place is tightly packed so either get in early or make a reservation. Took an Uber and rushed to the restaurant at 2:30 PM because it says the restaurants closes at 3:00 PM on Yelp. We then walked in and asked for a table for two and the waiter rudely replied that the restaurant is closed and that we have mistaken the restaurant for another one and ushers us out. I have no qualms if he had just said the kitchen or the restaurant is closed. It was the condescending attitude he gave us as if we didn't know anything. So I showed him the page and he just said you can eat across the street at Pizza Covello which closes at 3PM. It also has pasta and shares our name wtf?!No apologies. No empathy. No class. read more

I LOVE this place and come here every time I go to Paris. It's one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been too! I always get the veal with linguini which comes with a cream wine sauce that's great! I've also had the Alfredo which is good as well. We came here twice while visiting Paris. First time we were walk ins and got lucky with a table. I had the linguine with mushrooms and ham and my husband had Lasagna. Absolutely delicious. Second time I made a reservation. Second time was even better I had ravioli with scallops , and ensalada sole. Incredible! Nice service and delicious food how can you go wrong. Not ridiculously overpriced. I would dare to say it was better than some of the restaurants I ate in at Rome. I recommend making reservations as it fills up quickly and we did get lucky as walk ins. I saw the awesome reviews on yelp for Al Caratello and I love the Montmartre area so I went here for dinner tonight. It absolutely did not disappoint! I loved every bit of the experience. The ambience, the portions, the service, everything was wonderful! I got linguine with tomato sauce since I'm a picky eater and although it was simple, it was one of the best traditional pasta dishes I've ever had. Dessert was also great. I got ice cream with red berries and again, it was simple but perfect. The owner of the restaurant was very welcoming and he helped me with directions after dinner. I found this restaurant via Yelp. On the last of my 9 day trip, I was craving something other than rich French food. So of course, I had a rich italian meal. Many of the reviews I read said this was the best meal they had in Paris and probably one of the best Italian Restaurants they've had ever. My hotel was in the montmarte district and I had spent my previous days searching for dinner by wandering the neighborhood looking for full store fronts. As a result, this place was not difficult to find. When we got there, we had no reservations (I was in paris in February, hardly high tourist season). We stood in the small cramped restaurant for 30 minutes awkwardly moving from door to path to door as people came and went and the waiters shuffled along. The man that greeted us mentioned that Piccalo and the pizza restaurant across the street were the same owners, so that's something for people to think about if the wait is too long. When we were finally seated, we were placed at a small table very close to our neighbors. After 9 nights, this was the norm for these little cozy restaurants in the area. We started the dinner with the Procuitto and Mozerella salad with arugula. This came out with a ton of halved cherrry tomatoes, which my dining partner said was the best she's ever had (I don't like tomatoes so I can't comment on that). Also along side the giant plate came a spritzer filled with delicious balsamic vinegar. The procuitto was delicious, the giant ball of mozerella di bufala was amazing, the tomatoes fantastic (she said), and the arugula fresh. I would definitely recommend this to share as the serving size was sufficent for two. My main dish was Spinach Ravioli with black truffle cream in a cream sauce. This also came out on a giant plate and was absolutely rich and delicious. After awhile, the sheer amount of creme made me a little sick, but I still enjoyed the food. All in all, this place is worth the hype. You get a generous serving for about 12 - 18 euro per dish, prices varying depending on accompanying meat, and it comes out amazing. One thing I did realize was that the dishes never come out together. Sometimes one party may have their dish for a good 5 minutes before the rest of the people at the table get theirs. It's probaby all prepared in bulk if people order similar dishes. read more

I'm finally entering this from my notes after our family visited in June 2012 After a week of staying in the Montmarte neighborhood and having some great meals, the fact that this place stands out as top 3 for us says a lot: Great food - Example: my son had the mussels. They were cooked perfectly, not overdone, and the sauce complimented the mussels rather than trying to mask. Friendly service - The waiter was from Italy and spoke good English. We struck up a conversation about his home town and ours (Los Altos, CA). It was just like having a meal at a neighbor's house! Going local - We really wanted to try to experience off the path dining and this place lived up to the goal.
