This is a fun atmosphere restaurant located near the southern cruise port area. Once you go through the overpriced shops at the port, turn right and walk to the intersection. You cannot miss it across the street. The facility is open air with enthusiastic workers there. While seated we had a clown try to create balloon hats for us and a local street dancing group performed for a few minutes (yes, whistles, clapping and some hollers but it does stop. We sat down and were given a basket of chips with 4 dipping sauces and a bowl of freshly made salsa. The server explained the sauces real quick but could only make out part of what he said. Some were tastier than others and one was definitely hotter than the rest. We ordered a plate of nachos which were actually pretty good. They came with melted cheese (not cheese sauce like back home) along with sliced jalapenos, guacamole and chunks of meat. They also had a brown (maybe enchilada) sauce. The push there are the drinks. Crazy, colorful options are available. Being that it was still early and I am trying to get my money back on the beverage package I bought onboard, we stuck to soda. We walk in, everything's fine. Our server was nice, for the moment atleast. We only eat chicken and we were informed they were out. But we were never given a substitute. My friend ordered a medium margarita, expecting American sizing. She was baffled when it came out to be larger than her head, and the server just laughed. TL;DR: -Horrible customer service from the waiter. -the male singer aggressively came to our table to ask us for tips -random people came up to our table and tried putting items on us without our consent. -Taco was tasteless and expensive for what it was. Cruise taco was way better. My group of 3 wanted to look at the menu first before dining in. He immediately wanted us to sit down and ordered ASAP and didn't seem to want us to look at the menu and NOT get anything. We ordered chicken and fish taco, both looks the same. When we asked him to confirm which one was fish and which one was chicken, he wasn't happy that we were asking him for clarifications and doing his job. During eating, some random guy tried putting a balloon animal hat on us without our consent and behind our backs. I had to tell him no. When paying the bill, he also mixed up our receipt and change (not sure if it was intentional so we would pay him more by accident). Al Chile was a spot we had to try while in Cozumel, Mexico. You can't miss it if you're walking down the street after getting off the port from a Cruise ship. The large drinks and music will totally bring you in as it just seem like a huge party it going on! The staff are eager to bring you and ready to service you. I mean it could have because we were tourist, but they definitely treated us like family. That sat us down and the fun began! The menus has loads of authentic items to choose from. I had the tacos, but my friends had the burritos and nachos, and the table was given chips and 4 different salsas to try. Everything was amazing, but beware of the yellow salsa that looks like queso, it get you in the back of the throat, super spicy! Lol The Margarita was STRONG, but that's how I like it! And if I didn't already have the drink package, I would have gotten another one! I will be taking my family to this spot on the next trip to Cozumel because it is a must try! read more

Al Chile has all the signs of a tourist trap - waiters wearing neon green trying to catch your attention as you walk by, clowns making balloon animals, and giant margarita glasses as props - yet we (5 adults) still stopped to kill time there. It was 1030am and I wasn't ready to drink yet, but wanted a snack. So we sat down and ordered shrimp nachos. Let me tell you they were fantastic. We ordered a second round of them. And some beers. And a medium margarita. Our server Carlos saw that as an opportunity to bring out an enormous margarita and made some jokes about everything being bigger in Mexico. He also said they make the best margaritas in the galaxy. I'm not sure that that is true, but it was a pretty tasty strawberry margarita (that we shared amongst 3 people). So for an impulse lunch/drinks, I was pleasantly surprised. The cab driver recommended this restaurant when coming back into town since it was close to the ship and also close to some other shops we hadn't been to along the main road. As other reviewers state, if you're walking or driving by this place, they have an employee blowing a whistle on the sidewalk to attract customers. We were seated right next to the sidewalk since there was a breeze there, and basically had to watch this guy in action during the entire lunch. The prices were not outrageous, but it was more expensive than the public beach / restaurant on the other side of the island we had just came from, but of course, this was a prime touristy area. Most of the menu seemed to be seafood, so I ordered the whole grilled fish. You could choose between grouper or another lesser quality fish, but I went with the grouper. This dish was pretty good and not to mention a nice presentation. My group also ordered beef fajitas and grilled whole squid. These other dishes were okay, but of course the fajitas were certainly not Pappasitos quality. Their cocktail display on a table near the sidewalk has a few delicious looking cocktails in these huge glasses, along with a cart of young coconuts. They do amateur art with the coconuts when you order a coconut cocktail. I ordered one fresh coconut water, which was pretty good. They will cut it in half after you drink the water, so you can remove the meat easier too. After the meal, the waiter stops by, puts a shot glass on the table and starts pouring tequila quickly and expects you to drink it. Another pushy move and they don't tell you it's going to be $14. You'd figure it's free since they do it pretty much without asking you. My final bill was $71 after all the shenanigans. I gave a small tip since I was fed up with the service, started walking away, and the waiter tracks me down on the sidewalk and asks me for more tip. I told him no, since they basically overcharged me without asking, and just kept walking. I'd skip this place and try another. There are several other decent restaurants to choose from along the main road. read more

So first off I am not a prude, however.... This place did have great food and service. Open air seating and the burgers are fantastic. That's why it got 2 stars. The music they play is probably the rudest insulting music I've ever heard. "Lick this p**sy, eat this p**sy, ride my nig**r di*k hard and that was the lesser of what they play. Run away, don't sit down! Went with a big group of friends while in port (they chose) and was a total tourist trap! Terrible food, and way too pricey for Mexico! My kid and I got beef tacos and they didn't even look like beef (they were grayish)...that should have been the first sign. My other kid got beef fajitas. They all tasted awful...had to spit out after a couple of bites. I had to send back and then got the fish tacos--they didn't taste awful but were definitely not good. At that point I just needed to eat something. Everyone at the table had to add salsas (which we had to request), sauces, salt, etc to make it edible. The drinks were very average and pretty pricey. Our friend got a Cadillac margarita for $25! Beers only $3 so stick with that if you don't want sticker shock! They also brought out shots for us but only 2 guys did it...I'm sure they charged for that even though they made it seem it was complimentary. The staff was pretty attentive (hence 2 stars) but we were the only big party there (4 families) and a couple of other tables.
