Terrific food, intimate vibes, just a couple of blocks off the main touristy beach road. It's not a large restaurant, maybe 5-7 tables total, along with some outdoor seating if weather allows. That said, they weren't that busy when we arrived, and we were immediately seated. They have a couple of great regional Yucatan dishes here, like the Molcajete and the Cochinita. San Miguel de Cozumel is admittedly not the most beautiful or interesting Mexican city to do touristy stuff in, so it was a treat to find some great regional cuisine to try. I was with a group, so we ordered the Molcajete (basically, mixed grilled meats in a stew), ceviche, and cochinita (stewed pulled pork), along with tortillas. All of it was great. The sauces, from the salsa to the stew broths to the ceviche sauce, were all terrific. There was mention that they dishes were spicy, but in the end, none of the stuff was super-spicy. Furthermore, the spicy stuff was often a salsa served on the side, or a whole roasted pepper that wasn't integrated into the dish, so you could calibrate your spiciness to your taste. The service was outstanding! Both the server and the bartender were great and friendly. The chef wasn't visible but the food was delicious! The Fajitas were amazing and everything was fresh, and my small group included two vegans. The restaurant staff did their best and created delicious vegan meals. The Spicy passion fruit Margaritas were Amazing! We only had one day in Cozumel since we were coming from a cruise ship and it was raining that day. So we got off the beaten path and enjoyed the food and drinks at this restaurant. It was only $2.50 pp to take a taxi from the cruise port. Be sure to negotiate your taxi fare. The music was good too and nobody seemed to mind that I got up to dance for a few minutes! Overall the experience was amazing! We were here for dinner on a Christmas Eve, when we walked in at 6:45pm, not much guest. But later, the place is fully filled up. We get to sit outside on the street, with scooters cars even dump trucks drives pass our table. Interesting experience. Food is good, service is prompt, the bone marrow thing is interesting, first time i tried in this way, in a taco, also grilled. Cute, small spot located downtown two blocks off the main drag. We came in for dinner and sat outside. My husband and I each had a carajillo to drink and they were very good but it did take them about ten minutes to make them. Otherwise everything was else came out pretty quickly. We ordered the elote for an appetizer and it was delicious. It comes deconstructed as an fyi. I had the poblano soup and garlic fish. Both were great. My husband had the filet and had no complaints. We've been to Cielito Lindo a few times over the years and they consistently have really good food. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It has really nice outdoor seating, with fans, for those hot summer days. If you are looking for traditional Mexican cuisine, you can't go wrong here. A few years ago (probably 4-5) they had a nice mix of mole sauces. I must admit, I miss them. They were excellent, yet no longer on the menu. Bring them back please! read more

I'm so glad I saved one of the best for last! Last dinner in Cozumel before we head back home. Cielito Lindo was a new try for us (family of 4). I had made reservations requesting indoor dining with air conditioning, the restaurant is very quaint, sits on a corner with a lot of outdoor seating. Mariano was our excellent server. Of course I had to have my last Don Julio Tequila while looking over the menu. We started off with the Azteca Soup. Entrees were: Cochinita Yucatán (tender pork, pickles onions, avocado in a garlic sauce), Lechuguilla De Pollo en Salsa de Mole (chicken breast stuffed with cheese and mushrooms, dipped in a mole sauce with mash potatoes), Pasta Poblano with Chicken and The Green Chili Enchiladas. Sweet little place with AWESOME food and great service - a must do for dinner! Went here on Xmas eve (can't believe it was open) to grab some dinner. My friend ordered the "house" cocktail which is a fruity concoction that comes in a huge Mason jar - very tropical and tasty! I ordered the NY strip and poblano soup (sadly they were out of lobster bisque!) - the steak was the best - cooked perfectly medium as requested and just thick enough to be juicy! It came with some interesting, savory gravy which I really liked and used heavily (with some salt to punch it up). I also enjoyed the side - a baked potato with melted cheese and onion - so a little crunchy pop. My soup was also good - though it could have been a little hotter. You disembark in Mexico. You're hungry. You're exhausted from the 10 minute ride that should've been in the new "Fast and Furious" trailer that made you appreciate a speed limit. Limited phone service. You just want to take a seat, drink a stiff one, and enjoy the best Mexican food of your life. Mexico is supposed to have the best MEXICAN food right? My sister found this hidden treasure for us after I called her; the desperation in my voice triggered her willingness to help. This place can't occupy any more than about 1000 sq ft in downtown Cozumel. It's surrounded by hundreds of other eateries. There's NO WAY IN HADES we would've found this on our own. Our waitress was friendly and after indulging the best and strongest margarita of my existence she was quite amused with my spanglish. The shrimp and fish ceviche was refreshing on that warm afternoon followed by guacamole that would put anyone's in DFW to shame. The steak and chicken fajitas were flavorful and tender, lying on a thin sheet of ooey gooey cheese....such a big surprise! At that moment, I had died and gone to heaven. Cielito Lindo is exactly the meal we were looking for our first night on Cozumel; authentic, fresh, and delicious! This is a hidden gem, located just a quick walk off the Main Street. They have modern decor and tons of plants on their patio making the vibe welcoming and relaxed. The menu has both Spanish and English (which was a plus for me). We ordered two appetizers: the queso frito, and elote. Both were delicious!! For dinner I got the Cielito Lindo Enchiladas, and my fiancé got the Marinated Pork on a Banana Leaf, which was recommended as a local dish by our amazing waiter. This waiter was the cherry on top. He not only gave us local bar recommendations, but he wrote them all down for us so we wouldn't forget! But wait, there's more! I ordered a mango margarita (they have the strongest drinks we've had in all our five days in Mexico) and apparently they didn't have any mango in the restaurant. Instead of coming out of to have me order something else, he WENT TO THE STORE quickly and bought a mango so they could make my drink!! Shrimp and fish mix, with amazing guacamole. Cielito Lindo chef special was like corn empanadas stuffed with steak, and the BEST mole sauce I ever had. It was two different flavors and colors of mole, I was licking the dish it was so delicious. The guacamole was also amazing with it. Another chef special was a stuffed poblano pepper, stuffed with seafood, fish, shrimp, and sweet fruit, kiwi, raisins, and a delicious creamy sauce. I've been here on two separate occasions now. Received excellent service both times and enjoyed their amazing food as well! I ordered the Mole Enchiladas each time I ate here and wasn't disappointed. I was however disappointed with the Poblano Stuffed Pepper, which was barely room temperature and had the oddest flavors! I just couldn't stomach it. If you like spicy ask for their hot habanero salsa - it's served in the tiniest dish because you don't need much...It'll light you up!!! We visit Cozumel every other year for diving and specifically seek out this restaurant to dine 9 times out of 10! The food is AMAZING - flavorful, affordable, the presentation is five stars, the large portions, and exceptional waitstaff - you name it. I always get the cochinita. Easily the highlight of what was otherwise a pretty "meh" cruise (avoid Carnival at all costs). Get off the main tourist drag and come here. Incredible ceviche and mole as well as quite reasonable prices on the alcoholic drinks. The ceviche and four mole samplers were both heads and tails above anything I've had before with a veritable symphony of different flavors (and fresh tortillas too). The mole verde in particular was a combination of two of my favorite things in Mexican cuisine that I had never before pictured together, but ended up being amazing. Drinks were solid and they have a decent variety, though it's not the longest list. I particularly enjoyed the "Russian" drink as it was quite refreshing and would recommend getting a spiked version of it with mezcal to round out the flavors. Good service, interesting-looking venue, and definitely a place I'd come back to if I ever came back to Cozumel. It also wasn't crazy busy like some other places, so you might be able to get a seat more easily. read more

Our 7th trip to Cozumel in 3 years. Second time going to Cielito. First time as a meat eater, second time following a plant based diet. Having worked as a chef and restaurant owner in the past, I understand the pressure diet restrictions put on a running a restaurant. I eat a plant based diet mostly for health reasons. I don't proselytize vegan-ism. Do what you like. I've learned that restaurants really haven't caught on to the plant based trend. Hard to find places that do. Surprisingly to me, there were a number of great options on Coz. Those that get it are smart. We were going to Kondesa one night while visiting the island this past Xmas. Had a function going on so went over to Cielito. Asked the guy running the place if he could accommodate a plant based diet. He laughed out loud and disproportionate to the question and said "Yes, I can help you, I'll call you taxi!" and walked away. Other people eating looked up. Can tell you the anger rose pretty quickly. What a dick! We left and moved on to Cuatro Taco. They were really happy to accommodate my diet. They took it as a challenge and made us a great meal. This is an excellent choice for any night of the week casual dining outside- The food seemed more upscale and there was a thought process into the plating of the food which was higher quality than most food that I've eaten in the area also the margaritas were excellent and they come in various flavors for only 70 pesos- We had steak tacos and they were on blue corn tortillas and also some soup Veracruz which was also very very good.
