Families: there is a very large playground with benches and shade! It's top notch and well maintained. Tweens/teens- there are benches and sick places to hang. You can even bring hammocks. There is plentiful parking. Picnic tables. Families often come out on nights with solar events and their telescopes. To be fair it is super well lit so it may not be the best place for star gazing, but you get many people to interact with. Plus let me add for Pokémon Go players- three gyms and 6 Pokéstops so this makes for excellent playing.

However, having always had something special going for it,the north Texas growth has breathed new life into this 10 square mile area formerly " historic" McKinney. This little lake created by forward thinking city planners is more and more a community gathering point. Just to the west is a full blown Frisbee golf course, hiking/biking trails and more. I just discovered a new addition today. A lighted walk,with music,to enjoy after dark I'll be back.

There's always choking hazards (mainly water balloons) on the ground! The one negative aspect of the playground is that the slides are always too hot during the dog days of summer, so make sure the kids don't burn their legs! There is a trail at first for the bikes and hikers and than it splits. Hikers go to the left, bikers to the right. Just be aware of each other and all is good. Hikers make sure to step aside for the bikers, harder for them to slow down and pick up their momentum again. Seeing how this was my first hike and I'm a big girl who lost some weight, I did the littlest trail first. Only took me 25 minutes. Worked out my heart though. They also have a place where kids could do bikes on hills. Does that make sense lol Cool place over all ! Will be back.

We stopped by the park after dinner but discovered the giant field of wildflowers in the back, which made the visit a lot more memorable. The flowers are gorgeous and there are so many spots for photo opportunities. I saw 7 groups of people taking photos and they were pretty spaced out. There are paths you can walk between the flowers so you don't step on them if you want to walk in. I'm not sure how long the flowers are blooming but definitely check out soon!

My only wish was that it was closer to where we live and that there were bathrooms close to the splash pad. I'm not even sure there are actual bathrooms. The park also consists of a skate park, tennis courts, basketball court, and large gazebo area. I will be taking my son here many more times this summer!
