This is such a beautiful city park. I found it challenging to find a restroom on the weekend when no sporting event was going on. Beautiful memorial trees along the walking path. The walking path around the pond is 0.5 miles. The playground appears well-maintained. There are easily 8 park tables under a shaded pavilion for picnics. I found this park while visiting my parents. It is a really nice park for the kids to play with covered play. They are getting a 3 because of the bathroom. My sister took my niece to use the bathroom and what she found was beyond disgusting. She found poop on the floor and all over the wall with no way to contact anyone to address the issue. For a city park I would expect them to have employees roaming at least every hour in county vehicles but it seems this is only done in Harris County. All in all the playground was great for the kids but do not use the restroom. read more

Phenomenal park and the fact it's covered is even more reasons I love this park! There are so many things for my daughter to do! The lake is beautiful. It has ducks, turtles, and fish. There are gorgeous trails to walk on and places to sit, and a volleyball court. I love coming to this park and would recommend this place for anyone who has kids. read more

This is the BEST park in the area! Russell Creek has it all- it's HUGE with sports fields but more importantly has a beautiful fishing pond with a small pier, large pavilion (first come first served during the pandemic- no reservations), hike/bike path, picnic tables, restrooms, volleyball, basketball, playground and benches. The park is beautiful and easy to visit with kids. I've seen many friends and family having socially distanced parties and get togethers. I love visiting Russell Creek park because of the positive energy. Everyone is happy here. We all need that now. read more

While looks are good, couple things. Concession stand never open. Restrooms are too far from the fields. Would be more convenient to have them in the concession area. There are no rails on steps area which would be helpful for us seniors. The lock on the handicap stall in women's restroom has been broken for at least two years now. Stopped by this park because it was close to where I was and the kids needed to play. The drive in to the playground goes through a large parking lot for sports fields with many speed bumps. No big deal, safety first. But the playground has rocks, small rocks that ever kid was picking up, throwing, putting on the playground equipment and my 1 year old kept putting in his mouth. Honestly, the park itself is probably nice with the sports fields and walking trail but if you are just looking for a playground for small kids, skip this one. read more

The park itself is quite huge. Lots of speed bumps to get to where you want to go though. Playground differentiates itself as it has some stuff you really can't find typically elsewhere in Plano playgrounds. Give it a visit for sure. read more

Perfect place to enjoy the outdoors! I love coming out to Russell Creek and walking around the pond on a nice day. There is a playground with swings for kids (and adventurous adults) as well as a sand volleyball court and basketball court. There are some bathrooms but bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer! The outdoor pavilion is available for rent with some built in BBQ grills. You have to bring your own charcoal and fire starting materials. Most evenings, you can find adults and children walking around the pond on their phones playing Pokémon Go since there's quite a few Pokestops and gyms in the area. Parking can be limited so try parking at Skaggs Elementary or the soccer fields and walk over to the park. read more

One of the best parks in Plano! Great place to play, walk, run, bike, and just enjoy a nice lunch, like we did during our visit. Nice lake/pond area with a pavilion, as well as fishing, to go along with a great path to walk around the lake. Parking is easy in the many lots, and there are public restrooms. If you're into soccer, cricket, baseball and other sports, there is probably a league that plays here. read more

Love my morning runs at this trail. Its peaceful and quiet. My kids also enjoy coming here to play and to feed the ducks. On weekends, its very busy due to soccer. Parking is plenty. read more

This is a big park with several sports fields. We however only tried the playground. It's on the edge of the park next to the pond. It's one large structure with climbing equipment, slides and monkey bars. Next to it are some swing. All of it is surrounded by gravel. There's not a lot of variety, but it does have a little bit for smaller and a little for older kids, so both my 6 year old and my 21 months old enjoyed it. So it's nice, but there are better playgrounds around. read more

These soccer fields deserve 4 stars. I play soccer and these are some of the nicest rec fields in Plano. Fields are well marked. Also saw some cricket playing for those that have interest. Nice restrooms, concessions. read more

Beautiful park for running and biking...there are also soccer fields galore! On Saturday mornings it will be packed. Be careful around here with the traffic. It's great for families or gatherings for sure. It's fun to run around the area though and explore the different neighborhoods! I'd say come and check it out if you live in the area. There are also lots of water fountains and restrooms if you need to make a pit stop. read more

Rating restaurants seems to be a lot easier than rating parks since I haven't visited a wide variety of parks around here, but this place is pretty nice. I come here almost every Sunday to play basketball with some family friends (they have a full court). Granted it's not the best and most up to date but I'm grateful that it even exists. There's a nice jogging path around a small pond so it has a fairly nice scenery. Alongside the pond are trees that were planted in memory of loved ones (as indicated by the plaques on each tree). There's usually families riding bikes, playing on the playground, small group of people doing meditation, people just relaxing on the picnic tables, etc. Overall I think it's a nice place to take your kids to and just be outdoors. There's a big area of grass to play sports with the little ones. There are fields that are usually taken up by different sporting activities when the weather was warmer. Not sure if those fields are accessible to the public when it's not occupied. I also like that they have a huge parking lot so there are plenty of parking spots. The park is pretty clean for the most part. The bathrooms at times are not very clean, but I feel that the responsibility is also in the hands of the people that go there. It's a free facility so we should be able to pick up after ourselves. read more

Fantastic park to go for a run. Just be careful when driving around the park, especially during the weekend because there will be a lot of kids in the area. People do all kinds of activities here. From jogging, running, to cycling, kung fu... All kinds! The only downfall is that sometimes there are pet's poop on the trail and it weren't cleaned for days. I hope people take care of their community park more. read more

Enjoy when my son's baseball games are scheduled here. The park is huge and has soccer fields in addition to baseball fields, pavilion, stocked lake and cement paths/trails connecting everything. Perfect for walkers, runners, bikers and strollers. Bathrooms by park pavillion, as well as in the baseball field area and likely by the soccer fields, too. read more

This isn't my favorite park, but we do go every once in awhile because it's pretty close to us. If you go around 6-7pm, the playground is always so crowded. But my daughter still has a nice time. There is a little trail that goes around the lake that's a nice walk. Although I do agree with the previous reviewer, there is one small portion that smells really bad. It's a nice walk though and it's cute the see the ducks in the lake. They have a covered pavilion with an abundance of picnic tables. read more

great park for sports and play

Close, clean, and convenient! I wish they could include some water fountains along the trail and more locations for pet waste as at times I see the occasional pile when jogging, but other than that I don't really have any complaints. The grounds are clean for the most part as well as the facilities. Great place to have a picnic, bring your kids to play, or meet other families. I wish distances were marked for joggers/runners, but with GPS on everything I guess they don't find to be necessary! read more

Like much of Plano these days, it is constantly swarming with children. Can't get a single minute of peace and quiet if you're out in public. Back in the day at this park you'd have maybe 30 kids max playing on the playground. On a typical day today it feels like a few hundred. And the noise. It hits you the minute you get out of the car. Back in my day you could walk around the lake and enjoy the calm, but now you got people everywhere. Maybe I'm just getting older, but it feels kind of like the pond is starting to silt up and the edges are sinking in, because the outlet drain also seems a lot lower than before. The other problem is that garbage is much more prevalent nowadays, floating around in the lake and flying across the fields. The lake itself is kind of nice, because it has a surprising amount of "wildlife" you can see. Aside from the usual urban suspects of crows and sparrows, there's plenty of Mallard ducks but as of late you can see some Tufted ducks too. Swans, geese and egrets pop up occasionally. In the water there's a surprising number of bass, turtles up foot long, and some rather large snakes too. You can typically see the fish lazing about in the deep southwest corner of the pond just south of that concrete retaining wall, along with the larger turtles. Smaller turtles can usually be seen poking their heads out near the shallower edges along parts of the east and northeast edges or sitting on the water outlet. The giant snakes are usually hiding in the far north corner amongst the grasses. When you walk up they'll usually slither into the water. Occasionally the snakes consume small children, but that usually only happens a few times a year. Could've been a 5/5 if there were a few hundred less kids there on an average day. read more

Russell Creek park is a good place to play because I can smell fresh air. It is fun to play with my friends. It is right next to my elementary school and a lot of my friends also come to this park. I ride my bike and can do laps around the pond. I chase the birds and ducks. I fish but I'm not good at it. read more

I love this park. Best place to go for a stroll with family and pets in Plano. I sometimes jog around the lake, its a great experience. Its nice to see the place filled with kids & pets esp. in the evenings. The park is well maintained, so far I haven't stepped on any poop, so kudos to everyone walking their pets here! There are many ducks in the lake, and its fun to watch them. I've seen storks too. There is a certain part of the lake, that smells real bad at times. read more

Well maintained fields. We got to play on E and F this weekend for the Plano Kick Off tournament and the fields held up very well. It is also nice to have a fence around the field so most the balls stay close to the sidelines. If someone could turn off the wind out there we'd be perfect. read more
