Phenomenal park and the fact it's covered is even more reasons I love this park! There are so many things for my daughter to do! The lake is beautiful. It has ducks, turtles, and fish. There are gorgeous trails to walk on and places to sit, and a volleyball court. I love coming to this park and would recommend this place for anyone who has kids.

This is the BEST park in the area! Russell Creek has it all- it's HUGE with sports fields but more importantly has a beautiful fishing pond with a small pier, large pavilion (first come first served during the pandemic- no reservations), hike/bike path, picnic tables, restrooms, volleyball, basketball, playground and benches. The park is beautiful and easy to visit with kids. I've seen many friends and family having socially distanced parties and get togethers. I love visiting Russell Creek park because of the positive energy. Everyone is happy here. We all need that now.

Stopped by this park because it was close to where I was and the kids needed to play. The drive in to the playground goes through a large parking lot for sports fields with many speed bumps. No big deal, safety first. But the playground has rocks, small rocks that ever kid was picking up, throwing, putting on the playground equipment and my 1 year old kept putting in his mouth. Honestly, the park itself is probably nice with the sports fields and walking trail but if you are just looking for a playground for small kids, skip this one.

Perfect place to enjoy the outdoors! I love coming out to Russell Creek and walking around the pond on a nice day. There is a playground with swings for kids (and adventurous adults) as well as a sand volleyball court and basketball court. There are some bathrooms but bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer! The outdoor pavilion is available for rent with some built in BBQ grills. You have to bring your own charcoal and fire starting materials. Most evenings, you can find adults and children walking around the pond on their phones playing Pokémon Go since there's quite a few Pokestops and gyms in the area. Parking can be limited so try parking at Skaggs Elementary or the soccer fields and walk over to the park.

Love my morning runs at this trail. Its peaceful and quiet. My kids also enjoy coming here to play and to feed the ducks. On weekends, its very busy due to soccer. Parking is plenty.

These soccer fields deserve 4 stars. I play soccer and these are some of the nicest rec fields in Plano. Fields are well marked. Also saw some cricket playing for those that have interest. Nice restrooms, concessions.

This park is really nice!!!! Its my bf's favorite park even though we live in Garland. We always go to this park for Pokemon GO lol. The park is clean, beautiful and peaceful.

Fantastic park to go for a run. Just be careful when driving around the park, especially during the weekend because there will be a lot of kids in the area. People do all kinds of activities here. From jogging, running, to cycling, kung fu... All kinds! The only downfall is that sometimes there are pet's poop on the trail and it weren't cleaned for days. I hope people take care of their community park more.

Enjoy when my son's baseball games are scheduled here. The park is huge and has soccer fields in addition to baseball fields, pavilion, stocked lake and cement paths/trails connecting everything. Perfect for walkers, runners, bikers and strollers. Bathrooms by park pavillion, as well as in the baseball field area and likely by the soccer fields, too.

I discovered this park after joining Plano Pacers last night and seeing that this is our monthly location for 5k races. I walked over to check out the course prior to Saturdays race. I loved everything about it! It's truly beautiful in every sense of the word. What I can say, is on a very hot TX day the park itself (not Legacy trail) didn't seem to have a ton of tree coverage. You'll definitely want a wide brim hat and some sunscreen. The paths, wild flowers, lake, creek, trees, birds, bunnies and so on were all very lovely. I've been running a ton of routes since relocating to the neighborhood and I'm always thankful to find new paths to incorporate in, seeing as though I'm a distance runner and have been trying to put together some ideas for various different mileage options from my doorstep. I was very accustomed to an out and back in my previous city that I could easily get over 20 miles on and have been looking to somehow recreate a similar very straight forward route like that. I will most definitely be looping Windhaven Meadows Park and Legacy Trail into my runs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous peaceful place to walk and relax. I can't wait to bring friends and family here!

If you're looking for the gold standard of playgrounds in Frisco (or honestly, anywhere nearby),…read moreHope Park is it. This is hands-down one of the most thoughtfully designed, beautifully maintained, and inclusive parks I've ever visited. The playground is massive, separated into different sections by age group, which is a lifesaver if you have both toddlers and older kids. Everything is built with accessibility in mind ramps, wide pathways, sensory features, musical instruments, and even mini pretend storefronts that spark imaginative play. The rubberized ground covering is such a bonus for safety too soft, clean, and comfortable for little ones learning to navigate the world. There's also a splash pad right next door, which is an absolute magnet on hot Texas afternoons. Shaded picnic tables and benches are scattered throughout the park, making it easy for parents and caregivers to relax without feeling like you have to hover the entire time. What makes Hope Park extra special is the heart behind it. It was created by the Frisco community with the dream of building a place where all children no matter their ability level could play side by side. You can feel that spirit when you're here. It's not just a playground; it's a celebration of inclusion, joy, and togetherness. Pro tip: It can get very busy on weekends, so early mornings or weekday evenings are perfect if you want more space to roam. Parking is plentiful, and restrooms are nearby. Five huge stars!

My husband and I came here for a weekend trek, and it's easily one of the best outdoor spots in North Texas. What I love most is the versatility. Whether you're looking for a smooth, paved stroll or want to get your boots a little dusty on the dirt hiking trails, they've got you covered. It's a great mix of elevation and flat stretches. It's a great spot for everyone. Pets are welcome (on leashes!), and there is a fantastic playground near the parking lot--perfect for kiddos who still have energy to burn after a hike. You'll see a beautiful variety of plants and likely some local wildlife. Just a heads-up: they do have warning signs posted for snakes and poison ivy, so definitely keep an eye on your surroundings while you explore. The parking lot is huge, but this place is popular! We arrived around 1:00 PM and it was nearly at capacity. We were lucky to snag a stall, but I'd definitely recommend arriving earlier in the morning if you want to avoid the parking hunt.

The entrance area is always crowded so people don't get to see how amazing this place is. It's incredible because once you go off trail, you can see for miles to around and the sunset views are phenomenal. There are plenty of shortcuts around this area if you just want to do a quick loop to the observation tower and back to the main entrance. I took my old dog out here years ago and went off trail to isolated areas. I hope other dog owners get to see how happy she is and how much joy dogs get from being in this place. It's fairly common to see people taking family photos here but again, I truly recommend walking in off trail areas for 10 minutes to get spectacular photos.
