I called the store to make sure they were open I showed up at the store around 8 o'clock.The door was closed. Hours shows 10am-9pm.I knocked on the door, the guy inside completely ignored me like he does not see me . I thought he was busy and come back and talk to me, but he never did.I waited outside for About 25 minutes and he came outside told me that he was closed.I told him if you close early then you should have let me know or change your hours so this way i wouldn't have wasted my time. He then yelled and cursed me and walked off. This old guy was very rude and unprofessional and i would not recommend anyone go there. read more

I bought 2 whole chicken and I paid $23, Small place and so high prices. Very High Price, I asked about price than he said it's organic, hand cut ....bla....bla...bla.... He is very rude. Tells halal meet and it's for sure not. Cheats in all way possible. I am quite sure he is Cheating people because he didn't mention about the weight of my chicken, handwritten price on the bag & he put the plastic bag before he waits I know the trick; how to make more wait with the plastic bag. Al-Salam Market saves the day! I was hurriedly looking for some tamarind paste before all the stores closed because I was planning to make Pad Thai noodles for our family Christmas meal and the recipe I had called for it. I phoned another Indian store closer to my home but they were out and I was able to get the person to tell me where else I could find this unique ingredient. It was like pulling teeth but I finally got him to tell me of a few other places. He mentioned a place at the corner of Anza and Del Amo so I drove over to see if I could find it. I got to the corner and parked in the parking lot of the strip mall and saw the sign for this market and assumed this was probably the place the other store owner was talking about. Al Salam Market is a small store with half of the place displaying various Indian items and the other half was a butcher shop selling different cuts of meats prepared the halal way. I looked around on the shelves and as you can imagine, I was stoked to find the tamarind paste. The owner rang me up and was very friendly. On the way out, I noticed they had frozen samosas in their refrigerated section and I thought of grabbing one but didn't. Probably will have to go back to pick some up some time. The owner wished me a Merry Christmas which I thought was courteous of him given that I assumed he was Muslim since the place was a halal market. If you're looking for ingredients to go in your Indian or Southeast Asian dishes, try stopping in at this store since I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for like I did. read more

I got a meat worth from this place, after I reached home I realized that the meat is rotten. Store owner disagreed to refund me the amount which I paid for the rotten meat. Please do not go to this place as this place not only has bad meat but also people with bad attitude. Avoid at all costs. read more

I usually come here to buy halal meats and Indian spices . It's a small store but they usually have what I need.

Came in here just to check it out. Really small place with very little inventory. They didnt even have Arabic bread or Nema brand hot dogs. They had about two or three things in their fresh poultry section. They had what I was looking for " chicken patty meat burger," but they sold it more expensive than any other Halal markets I've been too. More convenient to go to a different Halal market that has everything for much cheaper price. Also, the guy behind the deli was talking really loud and I thought it was inconsiderate considering the market is so small, and the person he was speaking to was right in front of him. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Last week my dad called them asking for the price of k&ns hot dogs and chicken patties and what the quantity was in each box. Mind you, k&ns sells boxed items so the quantity does not depend on weight. Each box has a fixed number of pieces, hence I wanted to know how many pieces are in a box and what the price was for both. He gave him vague prices and a vague quantity to which my dad requested him to give the accurate price and quantity and not an estimate. Don't see what's wrong with the request he made. Anywho, he started cussing and yelling at my dad and told him he's giving him attitude, called him a "mother*** and told him f* you". My dad ended the call. Today, I thought I'd try and give it a shot and see if I could get the prices since he couldn't give them to my father. Over call he couldn't tell me the exact price and exact quantity just gave me vague numbers and said to call back in half an hour. I called back in half an hour and he just completely went off on me and said that I'm giving him attitude and that my family has been annoying him with our questions. This was the first time I was calling and my dad only called him once as well which was well over a week ago. Made NO sense. He hung up on me. I called back to ask him whether he hung up on me or if the call cut to which he started accusing me and spoke so disrespectfully all because I just wanted to know the price and quantity for some chicken patties and hot dogs. He refused to give the price over the phone and said if I need to buy it I need to come into the store BUT then he got even more angry and said "you know what I don't want to do business with you". First of all Mr. Ansari, if a customer asks you a legitimate question regarding a product you sell for their knowledge, it is their right to know the price and the quantity they're paying for. He even had the audacity to read my name off the caller ID and say "Maryam Beta (urdu for child) and went on and continued to be really disrespectful. You can't force a customer to come into the store to find out the price of a product. If conversations over the phone are that annoying to you, remove your phone number from your website and you won't ever have to worry about anybody asking you legitimate questions that you clearly don't want to answer. Pathetic. On a positive note, I found the items I was looking for at Al Hayat on 190th street and Al Amin on 182nd for much much much cheaper! And, I was able to call both stores and get prices for the items before I walked in without ANY problems. Extremely rude owner. There's plenty of rude people that I've come across in a life time, but you Mr. Owner have surpassed all levels of disrespect and rudeness hence this elaborate review. Supper expensive store.. they take advantage of there business and rip off their customers. Whole chicken is like $4-$5 a pound. Lemons are like 2 for $1. Very small store and small inventory hard to find things. Most important is their service is horrible. There is one guy who i believe is a owner.. he is old like in 60s.. Veryy rude and disrespectful. He has no manners and he does not know how to talk.. he is always loud and talks like he has mental problem... I saw him insulting a girl for no reason.. he was just cutting meat and girl was waiting at the counter for good amount of time.. when she asked him to ring her groceries, he told that girl "if she was blind and didn't see him he is busy. She was like in 20s and started crying.. he came to her snitch the bag of tomatos that she had and asked her to leave because he didn't want any drama. I really felt bad for that girl. Hope she is okay.. I really feel bad for his entire family.. store is worth of 3 stars but service is not even worth of a single star.. read more
