Just had these turkey tips and yes - they are amazing, I also the beef brisket and , no - it was not amazing. Dry and flaky. As an update, I've had the same order several more times: brisket, greens & green beans. Each time I've found the beef to be drier than the next & without flavor. Still love the veggies, but am switching to the pork, which has a sweet deliciousness to it, & leaving the brisket behind. Tried to give my cat some of the dry brisket and he refused it. I use to love this place. The last time I visited Alabama Que, a few years ago the food was excellent. The baked beans tasted sweet, the Mac and cheese was seasoned the green beans actually tasted like soul food. Now the Mac and Cheese taste like kraft store bought, the bake beans have little to no flavor. The only thing that was good about my experience was the lemonade. I don't know what it will take to get them back to their former glory, but they need to figure it out soon. read more

This place is decent. I think they pre make a lot of the food. Obviously you have to with ribs, but the sides all seem pre made. The mac and cheese is always good, but I've gotten it a few times and it was luke warm. Same thing with the collard greens. The BBQ sauces are really tasty though. Tried this place while visiting Cinci on a Saturday afternoon. The service was faster than expected. The yams were everything!!! I got the turkey tips but wasn't really a fan. I enjoyed the beef brisket more. The mac was cheesy but could've had a bit more seasoning. Pass on the cornbread, it is dry and has NO flavor. This the worst bbq place i have ever tasted. My wife bought food from here for our supebowl Party and ruined it. The pulled chicken was ok. The turkey tips were like rubber and tasted more like pork tips. The macaroni was greasy and had a funny taste. It was like eating souped up kraft boxed cheese and macaroni. Beans and rice terrible. And the topper, the yams were disgusting. They left the peels on some of the sweet potatoes and. They were hard and covered with some thick syrup substance. I travel a good bit and am always on the prowl for good soul food / bbq. I also consider myself pretty good with a smoker. This place was great. The young man at the counter guided me to the turkey tips which were very good. The sides were just right. Now I am not fond of sweet corn bread and was told that theirs was very sweet so I passed on that. As I was leaving the owner can out and was very personable and when he found out where I was from put a pin on his map and wrote my name there. I will be stopping in again when in the area. As for a previous reviewer and the so called smoke ring. When you are smoking turkey like this and using the dark meat you won't have one. YUM! I live super close to Alabama Que and never regret stopping here for dinner. I've ordered the turkey tips and pulled chicken. Both were excellent! I went with the hot bbq sauce which wasn't too spicy for me to handle. I loved that they put a lot of sauce of their meat. The portions were huge. I got the "dinner" which includes two sides and a roll. I have tried their macaroni and cheese, green beans, and yams. They were all fresh and flavorful! My least favorite would probably be the green beans, but how can veggies stand up to mac n' cheese? Also, I would like to note their flavored sweet teas are to die for! On a hot Cincinnati summer evening the peach iced tea is very necessary. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and make you feel a part of their community. They have a small seating area which always has an open chair, but it seems most people take their meals to go. Alabama Q revisited: Arrived 20 minutes before it opened as I had read, the bbq had sold out early the previous 2 days (about 5:30-6:00). First thing noted on driving up was the parking. Much better than on Harrison. But be prepared to pay the city a few cents to use those spaces at least during weekdays. Found a space right across the street and as soon as I opened the door, I could smell the wonderful aroma of smoking meats- I was in heaven. . Inside there are 4 tables, so A.Q. is mainly for takeout. A few things are missing from the old menu--salmon patties and fried okra. As Que explained: it's because everything is cooked to order and frying foods takes a lot of extra time unless it's done ahead of time. That's not something he wants to do as he is very concerned that all the food he serves is as fresh as can be. However, there is a huge addition to the menu- smoked brisket! And what an addition it is!! Extremely moist, tender and filled with the smokiness of the wood. I didn't need, nor want, any sauce on it. Just wanted to enjoy the flavor. I also had the pork rib tips, seasoned with Que's secret recipe, which were great like the last time I visited. Sides this time were potato salad- love it as before- and mac and cheese which is wonderful with small hunks of oozing cheese and the macaroni cooked just right (like the kind I would like to be able to cook but just can't quite manage it). Chocolate cake is still almost sinfully good. Maybe next time I can make myself try the lemon pound cake instead. Or maybe one of each! More turkey tips and greens next time! The only thing better than their food is their service. The guys there are always so nice, even when they're obviously tired. The turkey tips (which is what I used to hear about all the time) are really good and so are their teas, which are made with real fruit :-). Initially I was all about Alabama Que then they started being inconstant with the food. Some days are good, others not so much. Very disappointed with the food truck, often times when they are suppose to be somewhere they end up cancelling for whatever reason. One place has booked them TWICE and they have CANCELLED TWICE. That's not good!!! However the day they cancelled I did not pack and in turn I end up being introduced to another Food Truck Bones Brothers which hit the spot that day and later in the week, as I road pass Alabama Que's food truck (in the same area 2 days later) to go to Bones Brothers again. Wanted to like this place, but it just doesn't cut it. The turkey tips were dry and hard, yet overwhelmingly smothered in sauce...maybe to try and disguise them being old and dry. The mac n cheese was bland. The "fresh mango tea" tasted like water. The only saving grace for this place, the potato salad!
