My experience was great here. I was in town for a marathon and needed something somewhat clean but good taste and good portions. First, the place is small and not the best for large parties or really eating in, but dine in is available. All of your food will come in to go style( packaged and bagged) the menu. I decided to stop in because not to many places offer smoked turkey tips! The turkey tips were amazing. Full of flavor NO SAUCE NEEDED as a bbq spot should be. I also had the smoked salmon, which was ok. The sides I had were the greens cabbage mixed, which were tender and seasoned. With such a good experience for my tastebuds, I had an even better experience having a life conversation with the owner. Recommended. This is a must-visit near UC campus for several reasons. First, the turkey tips were terrific. If you're like me, you probably go to a BBQ place to order brisket or pork. They've got it and I imagine it's good. But I hadn't had turkey tips, the healthier option, before. When I met the owner, he recommended them as a top seller. I see why. And the sauce has heat options; I found the MEDIUM sauce had the right heat for me. The Mac&Cheese was great, too. We walked down here from a local hotel. The area isn't the nicest, but no troubles. When we stepped into the place, the first thing that jumped out is that it isn't really a sit-down type restaurant. There is a bar area where you can eat in if you want - maybe 10 seats - but it seems that most of the business is take out. There is a patio outside where maybe there is more seating in better weather, but we were there in the winter. While waiting to order, a nice local customer came in behind us and started giving my group of seven food recommendations. Foodies know that listening to locals is usually a plan for success, so we did. This lady said to try the sides especially the string beans (tender, leaning towards mush and with a lot of tomato flavor and a little heat) and mac n' cheese. We pushed a little more and she said to try the soul roll and that was a real gem of a recommendation. You get an order of two large fried items that resemble a spring roll on the outside, but they are huge. One and a side was plenty for me and then I got to eat the other as a leftovers meal. They offer turkey and vegetarian options and everyone in my party got the turkey. It was absolutely delicious. The filling is a combination of smoked turkey, greens (mixed collards and cabbage), mac n' cheese and maybe a few other things I didn't recognize. It is a completely unique meal and one I would come back for without question. They offer a number of different sauces. I got the original and also tried my friend's whiskey bourbon. Of the two, the whiskey bourbon was the definite standout. My original was just ok. Not bad, but not memorable in any way. There are lots of other choices and I might try the spicy instead if I have the opportunity to go back. Notably, this is a place that claims Alabama as its roots, but I don't recall a white sauce as an option. The owner was onsite and he held court while we were waiting for our meals. He is ex-navy and ex-firefighter and now owns a food truck and several locations for his restaurant. Talking to him was a great experience and I encourage you to engage him if possible. read more

We have had this BBQ before, and we are so glad that we ordered from here again. I have always gotten the Turkey tips, this was the first time that I had gotten the chicken or the cobbler. Oh my goodness! Yum doesn't begin to describe how good this was! It was all juicy and delicious. We ordered the cobbler for everyone else, and I am not a fan of peaches at all but my granddaughter asked me to try it because of how good it was. Well.... I'm staying downtown Cincy this weekend and in was told by a hotel employee to go to this location. When I was walking up, I could smell the BBQ which is usually a great sign, because believe it or not, not all BBQ joints exemplify this trait surprisingly. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the small size of the building with hardly any seating inside. There appeared to be some seating outside, but only a few bar seats. And on a cold day like this one, I had to settle at the bar. The problem with that was the lack of being able to enjoy my food without feeling like someone was in top of me. Whether that was someone waiting after they ordered, or a door dash person picking up, didn't matter. My favorite part is when folks are oblivious or lack manners and decide to blast their phone conversation or YouTube video in my ear hole. Ok, on to the food: The selection is pretty grim, and when I asked simple questions such as 'Is the brisket fatty or lean', or 'Is the chicken white meat or dark meat', I didn't get answers.... Kinda crazy right? So I settled for Rib tips which is not usual for me. What kind of BBQ place doesn't have slabs of ribs?! Yikes. I'd give the rib tips a 3/5 due to the dryness and thinness of the chunks themselves. Not great flavor, and needed sauce to accompany each bite. Now I'll say this, and if you're reading this you'll agree.... Like a solid cooked steak, solid cooked ribs shouldn't NEED sauce because of how good the seasoning is on it. The sides however were the highlight of the meal. The green beans were great and the mac and cheese were pretty good too! Oh and the sweet tea wasn't bad once I finally got it, but it was a touch watered down because it was sitting in a fridge premade with other drinks. All in all, I wouldn't go back to this place personally, at least at this particular location. We ordered a pork rib tip dinner with Mac & Cheese and yams and a brisket dinner with mac & cheese and potato salad, both with medium sauce. The rib tips were delicious, and the brisket was so tender that it was falling apart. Yams and potato salad were great, but didn't really like the mac & cheese. It was good, just not my preference. I ordered catering for work from Alabama Que. I arrived a bit early since I was picking up near closing time. It's quite popular and now I know why! The owner met me with my order on a cart and brought it to my car (even though it was not super close). He told me a bit about his work work (fire/ ems- sorry I don't remember exactly) which was cool because I am in healthcare. Everything was very well packed. They double foiled everything which was so nice. The hot items were hot and the cold items were cold. Everything was a hit and definitely made with LOVE. Here are the details Turkey tips- these are bits of turkey tenderloin in a wonderful bbq sauce. They are tender with a bit of chew to them and delightfully smoky Pulled pork- perfectly smoked, seasoned and sauces Brisket- amazing. Ah-amazing melt in your mouth wave of flavor, so tender and perfectly smoked Baked beans- more flavorful than any I have ever had. I'm not sure what spices they use but these are no ordinary baked beans- brown sugar? Cinnamon? Nutmeg? Clove? Such a great experience Mac and cheese- copious cheese (mild), beautiful species of pepper, and perfectly cooked.
