I stopped in recently and tried the turkey tips, and they were packed with flavor: tender, smoky, but were just a little on the salty side for my taste. Still enjoyable overall. Fried okra is one of my faves. And theirs didn't need anything extra on it. Fresh, perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned just right. Absolutely delicious! Went here for dinner with my fiancé on a Monday night. The service was very nice! Everyone that helped us was really accommodating and explain their menu since it was our first time there. We ordered a couple entrées and a few sides to try out. The rack of ribs was really good, not the most tender that I've had but satisfied our cravings. We also ordered the brisket- a little bit different than what I was expecting, but still delicious! As for the size, we got the mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans, and their cornbread. Our favorite was probably the collard greens, the mashed potatoes was a little lacking in both flavor and appearance.. This is definitely a no frills restaurant, even though there's not a bunch of decorations everywhere you definitely feel comfortable when walking in. Goodies is an amazing locally owned BBQ restaurant- one I miss being close to! Authentic DELICIOUS southern style comfort food with kind service and just the nicest people. We use to team up with Goodies to provide the Springfield Township Fire and Police department lunch and dinner a several times a year til we moved across town. Ordered a whole ribbon. It actually was parts of different ribs. No small end or middle ends therfore it wasn't a complete rib just left over large ends. I noticed they don't charcoal grill anymore which is what I thought they did. The rib pieces I received were not tasty and seem to be old pieces. I will not order anything from them again. First visit. I was not acknowledged when I walked in despite being looked over by 2 staff members. Two other customers were complaining of messed up. Fast forward 30 minutes. Still waiting. Others have come and gone. If I hadn't prepaid, I would leave. When a member of the staff finally reappeared and I asked about the status of my food. She casually asked my name and grabbed a bag from off the counter. My food had been sitting there for who knows how long. I don't know what the issue was because nothing was ever communicated to me. Goodies has been a staple in my house since I was a kid. We always order their rib tips, nothing else, just the tips. They are typically very very good and well seasoned with the exception of a few "off" times. My brother lives in the bbq capital, "Houston," and his first stop is always at Goodies to grab 2 large buckets of rib tips. They were on point yesterday and everyone in my family enjoyed them. I live a little bit over a block away from goodies and in a big fan of barbecue so I've actually had their food quite a few times. My partner absolutely loves the rib tips, and after having tried a few of them I can see why. they are large meaty, crispy, juicy and well flavored on their own. You add in the vinegary sweet sauce and it turns out to be a good meal. Note, the "mild" sauce is more like molasses with some slight spice, it's good, but super sweet unfortunately in my experiences there's only one side that they do that either of us find acceptable. The fried okra is fantastic. The collard greens mac and cheese cornbread green beans and coleslaw are all bland at best, and actively bad tasting at worse. In addition I've tried the turkey burger for lunch and it was okay, decent size, grilled, nothing special about it. The lunch portion of the whiting fish is a very good size, but a very bad taste. I don't know if they fry the okra in different batter or oil, but the okra actually has flavor and seasoning. Not so with the fried fish. this would be three stars typically if it was just another spot, but they have really good customer service, they legitimately try to put out good food and make you happy and I want to bump up some local love. if you like ribs definitely check them out, if you want some really good sides you may want to make them yourself. read more

Honestly, the food here is just bad. They're trying to do too much and it's really not panning out. I've been with my husband for 8 years now and have never seen him not finish a restaurant meal, even when it was bad. He ordered the cajun pasta with grilled pasta and the sauce was mostly water. I ordered the Philly cheese steak and still can't believe how bad it was considering a Philly is a standard sandwich. I know I should have read the description on the menu more closely, but still. It's so disappointing to order food and instead of saying they are out they give old meat. I ordered a small rib tips and French fries. The fries were fresh however the rib tips were old and reheated. I could have reheated ribs at home and done better. There really is no reason to serve old dried rib tips that were crunchy when bitten. What happened to the Goodies of years past. Long Time customer, we have had problems with pick-up orders and to be clear, I love their rib-tips, BUT today was my last time coming to Goodies. I ordered online, waited until they said it would be ready. It wasn't! But when I wanted to find out how much longer I would have to wait (after an order placed an hour and 20 minutes ago), I was told it hadn't been started yet. I demanded a refund and left without supper. Last chance. Never again. It was hard to see others sitting and waiting for as long as I had while employees look at their phones and refuse to pick-up the phone that was ringing off of the hook. DONE! read more

Portions are way too small for the price they're charging. Ordered online about a week ago. It seemed like they were having some issues with their online ordering system, which was causing some difficulties for the front counter worker. However, she was kind and took care of the problem as best as possible. As a result, I had to wait a bit for my order, but their space in Mount Healthy provides a lot of open area to spread out and not feel packed in like a sardine with other customers. The pork ribs were delicious all by themselves. They did not even need the sauce, which was also tasty. I got mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, wheat bread, and a small salad with my order. I was not impressed by any of them. I disliked the flavor of the mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese was a lackluster effort at best. The salad and the bread were pretty typical. Didn't blow me away, but not bad either. I would suggest sticking with their specialty, BBQ meats, which are excellent. The sides aren't really worth it. read more

Placed order this past Friday June 9. Restaurant website was not functioning so I ordered thru GrubHub for pick-up. I have learned from my experience with Goodies that it is always hit or miss--sometimes good other times terrible. This was one of the terrible experiences. I ordered a slab of ribs, 5 fried wings, Tilapia combo with yams and fried okra and a medium side of greens. What I received was rib tips which were tasteless, were so done that they were like pulled pork and tasted like them had been cooked in the oven. The wings were not completely done and a couple of them were burned. The yams were disgusting and the okra was missing from my order.
