Alabama Theatre, Monday, Sept, 22, 2025. Four of us (all adults) were vacationing in N Myrtle Beach, SC, and were considering going to one of the many evening shows that are offered in this tourist town. It was challenging to agree upon a show as two of our guests were international visitors, and were less familiar with the English-language lyrics of popular American songs. We decided upon the ICONIC show, because it was described as a family-friendly musical variety show. My husband and I twisted arms a bit as we were familiar with the theatre having visited there years ago to see a different show ("One"). The ICONIC show was high energy, featuring a cast of highly talented musicians, dancers, a comedian, and even aerialists. The show featured country hits, classic rock anthems, Broadway favorites, and pop ballads, all professionally choreographed and with frequent costume changes. Stunt comedian Max Winfrey, who was featured on America's Got Talent, provided comedic relief between sets. The show was about two hours of non-stop entertainment. All four of us, even our international guests, enjoyed it. The Alabama Theatre, founded in 1993, was clean and comfortable, with excellent acoustics. The temperature in the venue was comfortable in late September. We were in orchestra seats (section B, row 5), but there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The theatre is in Barefoot Landing, where patrons could avail themselves to pre-show dinners or shopping. Parking is free and plentiful. Our orchestra tickets were $54.95 each, including taxes and fees. They do not offer senior, military, AAA or AARP discounts. (We did see a brochure that advertised a summer special wherein 2 kids aged 16 and under are allowed per paid adult). No refunds or exchanges are allowed. Our rating for the experience is 4.5, rounded up to 5.0. A few minor things prevented a true 5.0 rating. (1) Upon entering, we were unknowingly directed to table where the gentleman tried to sign us up for a timeshare presentation at Wyndham Resorts; and (2) some of the actors seemed uncomfortable in the costumes and were seemingly "just going through the motions" in some of the later musical selections, especially the Under the Sea/Ariel and Aladdin ones. We would visit the Alabama Theatre again when next in the N. Myrtle Beach area. read more

The acoustics of this place are incredibly good. The architect must've really given a good thought about this. I have been to other renown theaters that don't match this Enjoyed thoroughly a musical that I won't mention the name to remain neutral because this review is about the theater and not the artist. Table wines in the lobby for 5 bucks and ushers do their job beautifully My two quibbles are one, the parking lot with rows in all directions that made getting out like 4:30 in Manhattan, complete gridlock thanks to the design, obviously not the same architect but a Horry County clerk. And I paid 149 per seat! and when I got to the "will call window" they gave me a ticket that reads 54.95 per person. How is that they allow to have a middle man earn twice as much as the theater and it is not Ticketmaster either but another scalper. The artist gets a fraction because nothing is regulated. We went to the Eagles tribute..... Lots of videos to go with music, incredible musicians and voices...... An interesting now here, Eagles are more my time growing up and BeeGees more hers and we also split with which show we each liked more. VERY professional and well-rehearsed. Would VERY strongly recommend it if ever close to where you live. They have unusual encores letting them play styles not in the Eagles manner. We enjoyed them, but not nearly as much as the basic show. read more

My wife and I have visited the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach Many times. The venue is still nice and the staff are all very kind but the show has diminished over the years. The was the second show in a row where the volume of the singers voices were amplified so low it was hard to hear them. We saw the Iconic show and the song selection and talent level were not up to quality of previous years. We hope they can improve to pre-covid years quality because attending this show has been a family tradition over the years but we are on the brink of removing the Alabama Theatre off of our visit list. read more

Ticket window fella threw my tickets at me!!! Rude and not friendly to start off the evening! Then we walk in and get approached by time share crap!!! They hand you a coupon for 20$ to use in house but you first need to almost get scammed into time share to get 20 bucks!!! Then we get to our seats, can barely fit bc the seats are so tight. Everyone complaining around us that it's too tight to be comfortably seated. On comes the show, DOUBLE VISION aka Foreigner tribute band... and we realize we should instantly be getting a refund!!!!!!!!! They are the absolute worst band I've seen in 50 years!!!! Just to be clear I'm reviewing the Alabama House show called ICONIC that you will see everywhere! So here is my question...Whose responsible for the shows energy? The audiences engagement in the performers OR the Performers pumping up the audience? Chicken or the Egg kinda question...I will also concede that it is March and the audience was 85% 60+ years old and wasn't exactly toe tapping along to Lady Gaga. I ask because the opening of this show is FLAT! This show could use a good warm up pre show act or something to ignite a fire. Basically the ICONIC show is a land based Carnival Cruise performance. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with a good cruise performance and many cast members had that on their resumes. The acts were great, and the singing was great, and the juggler comedian was great, the staff at the theater were great, and the band was great but the overall show was just a bunch of cover songs and dance choreography. There was no theme or connection to any of the songs just throw a dart and make up a routine. At the End of the Day I respect the performers and musicians, but it was a Variety show just above an amusement park show. The Alabama Theater itself was beautiful and spacious with not a bad seat in the house! One saving grace was that 16 and under were free (for our two girls) saving us $100 on the $50 price tag. Otherwise I would have been a little disappointed in dropping $200 without the Lido Deck and Casino. read more

Went to check out the ionic show. Was very disappointed in it. Was not the same as advertised and was a sing along. The musicians were great and sang beautiful but not worth the price. I would recommend many other shows over this one. Food was okay snacks and candy. Limited drinks. Service was mainly older people maybe retires. They were all friendly and very helpful. read more

Went here on Wednesday September 25th 2024 to see the ICONIC show that is playing there for summer, and at the moment. My aunt who lives in SC got us tickets and paid for us. While deciding if i wanted to see the show, i tried to find a song list to no avail, youtubed it and found out they sang Under The Sea from The Little Mermaid, sold for me! First let's start with the theatre, the Alabama theatre is a theatre in Myrtle Beach and it seems pretty big. They were selling popcorn at the stand, and my dad got some. The restrooms were also very clean as we used it before the show started. Ushers helped us and was very nice and helped us find our seats. The show ICONIC features singers, dancers and a comedian. Got to admit he was pretty funny! Lots of audience participation from that too! Now for the songs: the 1st half of the show featured mainly newer songs from the 80's and up- such as Shut Up and Dance by Walk The Moon, Some Opera, Good Girl by Carrie Underwood, On The Floor by Jennifer Lopez, Just A Girl No Doubt, Born This Way by Lady Gaga, beautiful by Cristine Aquialara, even a Nicki Minaj song, Hit Me With your best shot by Pat Benetar, Saturday Night Alright for Fighting by Elton John, 29 and 6 to 4 by chicago, even country song called Tennese Whiskey, as well as the Alabama band mashup of songs that the theatre is named after. Of course did Under The Sea, and Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid, which I loved because i enjoyed that movie as a child. The second half of the show was more older songs like Surfing USA by the Beach Boys, Don't Worry Be Happy, Margeritaville by Jimmy Buffet, Don't Stop Believin by Journey!, and long time by boston. Note- some of these song names like Long Time my mom had to tell me what song it was. They also did a Veteran's Tribute, sang in Screaming Color, and God Bless the USA. they also did A Friend Like Me, The genie songs from aladdin! They closed with Can't Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake. Overall, I enjoyed this show, and if i knew the song, I was often singing along. I like that there is something for everyone in this show. Even loved the singing and the costumes for the disney sets and all the dresses in the show. Overall would come see this show again! Although highly, highly suggest doing a Taylor Swift show, or Jonas Brothers, or add one of their songs into the ICONIC show. That would make people like me happy! Also not only do they do this show called ICONIC, they also have concerts like the upcoming show that is a band called A Girl Named Tom, who won The Voice TV show. As Well as other tribute shows like Eagles, ABBA, and many more! read more

Tonight we saw the the show titled "One." Lots of technical issues . Let's start with the audio issues . The sound system could use an update . The quality of the audio does not serve the singers well - just makes the audio quality seem dated . Also, the microphones kept cutting out while the performers were mid song. It was super distracting and I was surprised that such a long running show was having this issue . Additionally , at some points there would be weird echoing feedback from the microphone . I didn't like the fact that there seemed to be limited live instruments . The music seemed to be prerecorded tracks with a few musicians on stage possibly playing instruments . It's not a huge deal but it was super noticeable and impacted the audience experience. For example , the music would get unexpectedly loud and you couldn't hear the actual singer until it was adjusted down some . Also, the audio track voices would often be louder than the live performer drowning them out and the track voices often just didn't blend well with the live singer . I also didn't like some of the lip syncing (there wasn't a lot but it was just noticeable at some points ) The lighting was weird at times . Sometimes the spotlight would be taken off the emcee before they were finished introducing the next performer . Onto the actual performance : The costumes and clothing choices for some of the performers were simply not flattering for their body types . Overall , some of the performances were super cringey . Many of the performers just didn't seem comfortable and their on stage personas seemed unnaturally forced . Not trying to critical, but some of the vocals seemed very karaoke style . The best vocal talent on the stage was Rodney Williams . Everything about him oozed confidence , swagger and talent . Hang on to him, Alabama Theater . Slim Chance was entertaining . You can tell he is an experienced performer . He kept the audience entertained with his juggling, puppeteering and general banter . He was natural and fun ! Didn't like that his second set was basically a sales pitch for some of the singers' CDs ! It really took away from the experience . There are other ways the venue could promote sales . Some other positives: The phone ticket purchase process was easy and the guy was super friendly when purchasing tix over the phone . The ushers were very friendly . Overall , while the performance was enjoyable and we appreciated the efforts of the talent we likely won't return anytime soon due to the reasons outlined above . read more

I have been to the different shows in mytrle beach for years. In fact I saw the show the one there at the Alabama theatre many times, but I would not go back to see the iconic again. The dancing was good but the music selections were not. The band was great but at most times they were louder than the singers. I was in the fifth row center but couldn't hear the singers properly. I didn't find this show to be iconic at all.... don't waste your time or money. It's not worth it. read more

I would say I was basically disappointed by my experience at the Alabama theater. I have been to their Christmas shows and those are quite amazing. I went to the iconic show and it just didn't seem to make any sense. I thought the costumes were terrible and the women were a little bit over sexy for a family show. There's certainly a lot of energy in the show, and a lot of costume changes, but the whole thing didn't make any sense in terms of music. The dancers we're out of step and they didn't seem to be in very good shape. The comedian was basically a strange juggler. There were of course a couple of wonderful lead singers. But overall a few good individual contributors couldn't save that event. Come on Alabama you can do better. read more

My wife and I attended the Christmas show at the Alabama Theatre this past Saturday afternoon - it was fantastic if you love holiday music, singing and dancing! The talent, execution, and musicianship of these performers was spot on. The band was great. A super funny and entertaining comedian came out on stage during set changes. Recently went to see the Three Dog Night concert. While the concert itself was great, the experience was greatly diminished by the rude, inconsiderate, and disrespectful people. Alabama Theatre clearly stated several times prior to the show that video and audio recording was prohibited. As soon as the show started numerous people started recording on their phones, holding them up to get a better shot. This included the three people sitting in front of me. It was very obvious that people were recording but yet the theatre did absolutely nothing to stop it. So, as I'm trying to watch and enjoy the show I have three bright phone screens in front of my face between me and the stage. If there is a rule about recording, important enough to tell everyone, then it should be enforced. I would tell the person to leave without additional warning because they were already told. People think the rules don't apply to them. This happens at every show. When the theatre was told about the situation issue they said I would have to complain when it came s happening. Really? They want me to stand up during the show, go find an employee (who already can see it happening and is doing nothing) disturbing even more guests and then return to my seat. Then when the employee asks the rude guests to stop ( again disrupting those trying to see) it is obvious that I complained and the rude guests will now be angry at me. Also I'm sure the employee won't stop others ( plainly in view around the theatre) which will only make the people near me more angry that why do they have to stop if everyone else can continue. If recording is allowed then say so, and stop announcing the prohibition. That way I can expect it and would not attend. This is out of hand and the failure of the theatre to even attempt to stop it is not acceptable. Why will guests stop when there is absolutely no consequence for those who choose to follow an establishments rules. I doubt I will ever return here unless they start doing something to protect the experience of the guests who are considerate and comply. It ruined the experience. read more

We went to see a show here and were pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. Easy online ticket sales and seat selection. Stellar will call ticket retrieval. Nice lobby with knowledgeable ushers and plenty of restrooms. I don't think I've been to a theatre where they permit food and drink inside so there was some popcorn eating sounds during the show but it was still a great experience. We followed the crowd and found a back way out at the end of the performance. If you're looking for an evening of entertainment this theatre is worth checking out!! read more

have always loved the acts at Alabama Theater, but saw " Let's Hang On " a Four Seasons tribute concert and it was not of the quality that is usual for that venue. It was over in a little over an hour, they sang songs that were not 4 Seasons' songs. The lead singer was a screech...not even close to Frankie Valie. lots of empty seats.....no wonder. So, the show and performers were awesome! The show and performance deserves over a five plus star review. After calling the box 3 separate times to get all of the information straightened out wouldn't you know instead of just giving us our tickets at will call and wishing us a good experience the box office had to bring up the issues we had could've been prevented by not going through a third-party, I can't believe this is just not the way to provide not customers experience. Our family went to One the Show. We purchased the tickets online and picked up at will call. The seats were randomly assigned. We asked for another sets of seats and they happily accommodated us. The show was fantastic with lots of costume changes and a wide variety of music. The music transitioned from country music to Disney songs to classic oldies to patriotic songs to pop songs. It's amazing how they managed to combined so many musical genres so nicely. The dancers and singers were really skillful. The audio system was pitchy at times but the dazzling show makes up for it. Slim Chance, the comedian and juggler was lovable and funny. The theater looks beautiful and the ushers were really nice. We bought popcorn and drinks and enjoyed our time. The vocalists, dancers, and the band all did a great job in n their performance. The Theater was clean and decorated nicely. Nice ambiance, clean, nice bathrooms, friendly staff, good lighting, good acoustics, easy parking, BUT the seats are Uncomfortable IMO, you have to stand up to let patrons out. Maybe that's petty, but it was difficult to jockey yourself to accommodate. Will return. read more

We came a few years ago to a tribute show and more recently for the Christmas show which was a little cheesy, but worth while compared to some of the smaller theaters in town. The seating is comfortable and the staff is nice and professional. They have a gift shop and a bar if you're looking to spend some extra money. There is plenty of parking in the lot and haven't experienced a time when you had to pay to park, which is a plus. It is worth looking at the pictures/plaques and history of the Alabama theater while you are there before your show/during intermission. My husband took a little longer to enjoy but by the end he was wide awake and singing. The performers was awesome but the smallest person who happened to be 20 really loves what he does. Been going to Alabama Theatre for years. Went to "One Night in Memphis" last night and very disappointed with over all presentation. We walked into the seating area and it smelled of uncleaned rest room. Then someone from Alabama Theatre got on stage to greet the crowd. Very unprofessional and dressed in old, wrinkled tee shirt and jeans which I thought was odd. The guitar player and piano player were excellent The guitar player played Carl Perkins and Piano player played Jerry Lee Lewis. The guy playing Johnny Cash was ok at best. The guy who played Elvis was horrendous. He was Hispanic guy who sang through his nose who sounded more like Feddy Fender. A Hispanic Elvis? come on!!! We went to the Alabama Theater to see One on a Monday night after having dinner at House of Blues. Gotta say, I've been in the theater business for most of my life and I have pretty high standards when it comes to live entertainment. 5 stars for the venue! The Alabama Theater is a beautiful venue. Large, yet still intimate; ideal for any type of live show, musical, stand-up comedy, etc. Southern hospitality at its finest -- the staff was helpful, friendly and efficient. The Alabama ranks right up there with the finest venues in DC and New York. 5 stars for the show! The cast, crew and producers of One should be very proud. It is a great mix of humor, nostalgia, and spectacle. There are some great names in the cast and they really enjoy treating the audience to an amazing evening. I went from an ear-to-ear grin to crying to laughing to a standing ovation. Seriously considering going back for a second helping later this week. Thanks Alabama Theater!
