I have to highly recommend the Aladdin. There is nothing too special about the motel itself . but what is , is the staff . They are EXCEPTIONAL! The lead housekeeper Valarie is just amazing .. This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I had been evacuated from my home because of a fire, and because I had three cats with me, I called ahead to confirm that rooms were available and pets were allowed. I appreciated being told that would not be a problem. However, my concerns began as soon as I arrived. A homeless woman was sleeping on a bench outside the office, and later I saw her picking up used cigarette butts from the ground, which, I assume she planned to smoke later. When I opened my room door, the air freshener smell was overwhelming, so I planned to open the window. But when I pulled back the curtains, the window screen looked as if someone had tried to pry it open from the outside, which was very unsettling. The bathroom was worse: the toilet was dirty with what appeared to be a person with a bad case of diarrhea, and there was a gross looking used water jug on the dresser that was not mine. The carpet was filthy, so I wore flip-flops the entire time, and the chair was so stained that I would not sit on it. I bought Lysol wipes to clean anything I needed to touch. The "closet" was only a row of hooks on the wall near the window. People came and went throughout the night, with hallway conversations and dogs barking, so I got maybe two hours of sleep. Although the bed looked clean, I still slept in my clothes, using my T-shirt as a pillow cover and my sweatshirt as a blanket. I would rather sleep in my car than stay there again. read more

Adequate motel. Far from Yosemite especially with the Big Oaks entrance on Hwy 120 closed. Front desk had no idea which entrance was closed or open so not helpful. Bathrooms are updated and clean. Room comes with a micro fridge and microwave. Furniture is dated. We stayed for 4 days and when we asked for room service, we would told that we had to schedule ahead. No one asked us when we would like it. I don't demand daily service like in the pre-COVID days but 4 days without service! That is not reasonable! I spoke to the lady that and she was able to do it. If they need advance notice, they should ask people who have an extended stay when they would like service. Spa is heated but in the parking lot. People smoking out there. Hallway door does not lock and anyone can come in and out. Coffee is provided the lobby but not breakfast. There is a cafe next door that serves a yummy breakfast- My Garden Cafe! Breakfast special M-F 6-9am is $10 for a ham and egg breakfast with pancakes. Baby did not like their crib which was too high for a 9month old and had to get it lowered for safety. Definitely bring your own pack n' play. Bathroom came with shampoo, conditioner and Body wash in the shower but no soap at the sink. read more

Works for a quick stay heading down to the Yosemite area or Dodge Ridge. We booked here since it's about an hour to Dodge Ridge for skiing and we just needed a quick place to crash for the night. Pros: Rooms have a basic fridge and microwave. Beds were comfortable, room also heats up fast and stays very warm so don't go aggressive with the heater. Price was decent and we were able to book on short notice even on a busy ski weekend. Room was clean in general. Folks working the office were very kind and attentive - they had a generous breakfast spread of bread, bagels, microwave waffles, hard boiled eggs, coffee, and when the line got long for the toaster, they were kind enough to plug in a second one for us. Cons: The TV / remote was essentially from the dark ages. Blurry / grainy poor quality cable, remote was really confusing (how do you get back to the Guide? We navigated channels blind) There's a hot tub and a pool right near the office and I saw it was in use even though it was a cold March night, but the hot tub was one weird shade of yellow-green. Might need maintenance or cleaning. Breakfast area was pretty cramped so I would get there early. Key card had some troubles with the door lock, worked intermittently. Fortunately we were only staying a night so it wasn't a big inconvenience. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here last night. I was very pleased with the price and the room was clean, the beds were comfortable and nice bedding..sometimes hotel bedding can be scratchy. The vending machine stocked with a good selection of snacks. The staff was very polite, the only thing the tv remote didn't work.. I stayed April 9, 2024 in room 138 First of all they will charge you an extra $20 to check in 1 hour early. I can understand charging for a super early check in but 1 hour? They are trying to get every penny from you. Second, our room was not clean! My daughter brought me someone else's dirty sock, the blinds did not close, the phone did not work, there were crumbs on the floor, it was dusty, the toilet backed up twice. And the smell of the hotel is disgusting. Like sewage. I knew we weren't staying at the best hotel but I would at least expect cleanliness. I asked for some sort of discount at the front desk. But she said I couldn't get a discount because I already had: "a discounted wedding rate". That is not right. I am paying for a clean room. Just because I have a discounted wedding rate. Does not mean I should have a dirty room. My family was really disappointed with our stay and I'm pretty shocked the front desk gave me a hard time about wanting some type of discount. read more

Reserved a downstairs room when we arrived they put us in a run down room upstairs. If they ever try to put you in room 207 you better run . Bathtub was dirty, both faucets the shower and the sink wouldn't shut completely off. Tried to get the door on the room to shut when we were gonna go get something to eat and it wouldn't close . Went to the office told them they laughed and said you have to hit the latch with something to make the buttons pop out so the door would stay shut. We saw at least 5 to 6 couples with dogs that were being aloud to stay in the rooms also. Won't ever stay there again. There was a 20 dollar charge for checking in 30 minutes early. So I have stayed here for a few months off and on and have built a friendly reputation with the staff. Tammy the manager had asked me one time not to talk with the staff or mingle. (So I had cut back on my friendliness/ talking with staff). I had recently checked in and had been away for a few days and Janice (total sweetheart) was checking me in. She had asked how I been, (oh oh we started mingling) So I let her know I have been good, yada yada. Well Tammy had walked in and was not happy about that. So I get my key, drive around hotel, walk in tothe hallway and I see some of the housekeeping staff and say good afternoon ladies, give them a wave and open my door to my room and start bringing my stuff in. As I am bringing my stuff in Tammy had stopped me and asked me not to talk with staff again unless I am checking in, which I explained that I was checking in and Janice had asked how I have been. Again she asks me not to talk to staff, at that point I tell her that I just won't talk to anyone there. Then I released the door stop and let the door close, I hear her get on the radio and call Janice and tell her that I cannot get rooms there anymore. Basically, I got 86ed for giving them a ton of money for a few months and I am to friendly of a person and like to be nice to people, you know something humanity needs more of in my opinion. YIKES!! WHAT A DUMP!! So first thing, you check in at the lobby. Looks beautiful and updated in the lobby, giving the appearance you're staying somewhere nice. Then you get into your room, what a shock!! Floors are crusty and dirty looking with pet stains throughout, may be pet friendly but if you don't have one would be nice to have a room not used by pets. Room has a pungent old paint smell, windows have blinds with no window coverings which pretty much give peeping toms an easy look in. The rooms they advertise are far from what you're actually gonna get. Hair on shower walls, door wouldn't lock unless you slammed it while lifting, you can hear everything in the rooms beside you, coughing, farting, peeing, and conversations, it's awful. Now the staff...night staff were friendly and welcoming, however the so called "General Manager," Tammy O'Bar, is as unprofessional and trashy as they come. Her appearance is rather disgusting and her customer service falls in line the same. Was sitting outside the morning after check-in when she and another employee walked out the doors while loudly bashing other employees.. I politely said excuse me as they walked by and asked if they knew who management was. Tammy, who honestly looked like she came from a long day of working on the garbage truck, dirty clothes, and very unkept appearance, rudely replied that she was the manager, I then asked if I could have a minute of her time, snapped loudly at me, "Can I have a minute!?" I couldn't believe it and just replied, "Wow, so much for customer service." I then proceeded up to the lobby to see if there was somebody above her that I may speak with as her unprofessional behavior was way out of line. I was met with lie after lie by the office staff telling me they couldn't pronounce her bosses name, they couldn't provide me with contact info for complaints, this literally is a dump, run by a bunch of trash. I came to Sonora to reunite with my dear friend visiting from Florida. I checked out several motels ahead of time that were near where my friend was staying. Aladdin Inn had some good reviews and I definitely didn't need any fancy~schmansy place to rest my head. I booked a 2 day stay. Arriving much earlier than the 3:00 check in time, I was told there was a $30.00 early check in fee. Ok...Cathy will go find something to do till then. The gal at the desk was very kind and told me to come back between 1:30 and 2:00 and she'd get me in early. Very nice.! Fast forward....I enter the room and was soooo happy! It was clean, quite spacious, nice shower, and two really big pluses? It had a ceiling fan AND the AC was on and the room was nice and cool. It being over 100° I was thrilled! ( Yes here to see friend, but that morning her sister had some issues with a knee replacement from the previous day. She had to go to Modesto. Our reunion was postponed til next day.) So I'm chillen ( Literally) and try to turn on TV. Nothing? A very sweet maintenance guy came to look at it and diagnosed it as a bad TV...not outlet. He brought me a new one! Yeah. Only trouble was it only got 2 stations. SYFY and BRAVO. Turns out Comcast has not fixed the issue that apparently is ongoing. The ONLY reason for a 4 rating. Note: Aladdin Inn DOESN'T offer breakfast but the restaurant adjacent (Happy Garden Cafe) is excellent! So for 2 nights my bill was $210.00 total! I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a clean affordable lodging! read more

If you're looking at this place, then you're probably out to ski at a nearby resort or just passing through on a road trip. For the area, it's a solid place to stay if you just need a place to sleep. It's quite clean for an aged establishment and has well-lit hallways. There's a cafe and gas station right next door and a taqueria across the street. It's a small town so there's really not much else besides motels and a few restaurants nearby. I went after Christmas and most of the hotel was occupied by skiers visiting Dodge or Bear Valley. There's a bunch of cameras everywhere and there's parking behind the hotel away from the main street. read more

People chain smoking at the end of the string of rooms and swearing loudly like a sailor. My girlfriend's kids locked themselves out of their room and asked for another keycard. The staff was very rude and refused to give them one. The manager charged $112 on our card for "pet damages." When we inquired about the charges, they were giving reasons that were not true. They could have easily checked the cameras to confirm everything, but they refused to do so. We are repeat customers, and the hotel manager has been very unpleasant since day one. We will not stay here again because of her, and her demeanor towards us. Good value for the cost. However.... there are chairs positioned outside the first floor rooms with ashtrays. The smell of smoke comes up to the second floor. Get rid of the chairs and ashtrays-especially since its was supposed to be a non-smoking motel-and make a clearly marked smoking section. The new vanity top was nice. The room(s) could use a paint job. The furniture was nice but the dresser and desk/table with mirror could be switched because the tv-no big deal- was on the dresser and you had to angle it. If you made a few more upgrades and advertised that you were close to restaurants, services, close to Old Town you might be able to raise the rates and attract a bit better clientele and keep the riff-raff out (at least make it a little harder for them to stay there-every hotel gets some). read more

Very clean for an older property. Bed was fine, linens were very well used (thin) but clean. The staff we talked with were all very friendly. However ... the noise level is extreme. You can hear people walking in the halls and in their rooms, car noise, televisions and conversations. The first night we stayed was tolerable, comfortable and an expected amount of noise. The second night was Hell. It was a Saturday night, and the partying outside our room was ridiculous. It started around 8 and lasted until well after midnight. We asked numerous times for the people to please either quiet down or move to their rooms. The last time we asked around 10:30 we were cursed aggressively and told that they weren't going to move. We stopped asking them after that. Since everyone was smoking along with their beer drinking, I guess moving to their rooms was out of the question, since rooms are all non-smoking. It was raining on and off so they camped outside our room window. They would come and go, so I guess every time they wanted to smoke they would come back outside. The smoke from their cigarettes came into our room through the heater under the window, and the cursing and breaking of beer bottles went on and on for hours. We called the front desk twice asking for help. The clerk first said she didn't see them, then the second time she said she saw them and would talk to them. Nothing changed. In the morning we talked to the clerk as we were checking out. She said she never did talk to anyone last night because every time she went out they were gone. I'm not sure she ever actually went out, but I'm guessing she had a camera on the building and could see them. She never offered any accommodation (change rooms, comp last night) which disappointed me. We suggested that they post signs, or maybe call the police after numerous guest complaints, but the clerk had an excuse for why every suggestion we made wouldn't work. Disappointing to say the least. So all in all, it was a pretty miserable experience, topped off by an indifferent clerk who either couldn't or didn't want to help us. We'll never stay here again. For $240 for two nights, we expected much better. read more

Quaint, Quiet, and clean. Appreciate that the rooms are smoke free but also that they offer small sitting areas to partake if you want to. We stayed in a two queen room that included a coffee maker and a refrigerator. Check in and out was fast and easy and the staff seem genuinely friendly. So we stayed here by "accident ". In other words, a car destroyed my truck and we had to stay here for 2 nights. Super surprised by everything. Beds were super comfortable. The pool was clean and the bbq grill was used by us, very nice and clean, utensils available. I would stay again if I was in the area and needed a break. This place is doing well by staying pleasantly tidy while also helping to house the people in Sonora who try hard but find themselves on the street due to COVID economics. My only complaint is that the websites all say this place is pet friendly but when I checked in, I was told no. Then the lady wouldn't honor the websites and refused to allow me to put down a deposit so I could take care of my sick pup. But she did inform me with a threat that any animals inside would cost me what I'd offered as a deposit. She was just unfriendly and could barely contain her anger when I said the websites. We work for a medical staffing company and our last assignment was in Sonora. We stayed here for 4 months. At first we thought we were going to dislike the place, but after a week, we were so happy to be there. Although they need to update some furnishings, our room was clean and comfortable. The beds are perfect and so comfortable!! I had read, in other reviews, before arriving that the WiFi was lousy, but that was not at all true. We have a Amazon Fire stick, so have good WiFi is important and it worked perfectly. The ladies in housekeeping are so nice and friendly. The staff even stopped what they were doing one morning, to help me find our cat, after she snuck out the door. The Front Desk staff were super friendly and always had answers for my questions about the local area. We definitely recommend staying here. It's so quiet and peaceful. Everyone that works there takes their jobs seriously and it shows. The restaurant next door has great food and it was so nice having that and the gas station/ mini mart so close. We will be returning for the Christmas parade and to see all the holiday decorations because we were told is was something we shouldn't miss. I stayed 5/30/18 with my dog...'we' found it quiet,very clean,a comfortable king bed,the staff was very friendly and helpful,housekeeping was also helpful.The free breakfast is served from the Garden Restaurant next door,fresh with several choices. I did walk down the long hallway to the Office when my key card got demagnetized by my cell phone..i found it all very clean and safe. My room was approached from the outside near the highway..however didn't find it horribly noisy as the property is above it.The parking is very adequate for all types of vehicles..the landscaping is good and the grounds very clean,the pool looked inviting.. I was able to check in 2 hrs. early because my room was ready..my expectations were met plus..priced fair for my circumstances..why some had complaints..i do not understand..That Toilet seat photo should be removed! read more

While searching for places to stay in Sonora, I quickly discovered that everything is an "inn" or a "lodge". No fancy hotels in this area. CONS: -although this places advertises either a "free breakfast" at the cafe next door or a voucher for $5 off anything that's not on their "free breakfast" menu, this offer does not apply if you've booked your room at a "reduced rate". I had booked and prepaid through Hotwire at $100/night, and for this 2 Star hotel, I'd say that's pretty full priced. I actually think it's overpriced. -if you're assigned room 235, the hair dryer doesn't work. This was frustrating but since it was so hot during our stay, I just let my hair air dry -if you want your room to be cleaned while you're out and about, make sure you turn the door tag over. Like every other place I've stayed, you TAKE OFF the "do not disturb" sign when you want your room to be made up. That's what I did. I didn't realize until we came back to an untouched room, that the other side of the old school door hanger had a request for maid service. You actually had to make sure that side is hanging on your door. My husband had to go and get some more towels for the next day. -the place is old. The bathroom still had linoleum and the counter tops were a mauve color. Door jam was peeling and there is no closet. The bath towels are small and scratchy. The Dial soap is so tiny. The carpeting in the hallways smell old and the walls are thin. We could hear our neighbor clearing his throat and since we were given a room where you enter from the outside we could hear every cart or suitcase rolling by. When the neighbor tried opening their door, I got startled because I thought they were trying to open ours! PROS: -Although I had an icky feeling about the room, being that it was so old and "rustic", it was actually really clean. Kudos to the maid service. -the lobby is nice and modern looking, but unfortunately is a little deceiving since one would think/hope the rooms are just as nice. -there is a breakfast cafe in the same lot, within walking distance, as well as a mini mart and gas station. And the mannager was never there every time we spoke to the young man or woman they would tell us the manager would be in on a different day. Next if you are a light sleeper do not go here the walls are paper thin! You will hear everything going on in the halls and out side it was horrible!!! Next the toliet seat is pretty loose. But the breakfast vouchers for next door were amazing. And the food was great and HUGE proportions! They give you a voucher for the restaurant connected to the hotel. Because of the food, I'd take this hotel over instead of some crummy continental breakfast at a more luxurious hotel. Best breakfast food I've had in ages! They made my hash browns super crispy upon my request without burning them at all. They kept my coffee warm with about half a dozen top offs in my 45 minute visit. Super great business partnership. Ps the hot tub and pool are both nice and toasty read more
