There's a lot to say, first of all, the service of this restaurant is very poor. I went there for the first time to try their food while thinking it would be nice. However, I was so shocked that I did not get welcomed at first. There was two guy's sitting there but did not even greet me at all when I entered. Then when it came to order food, it felt like i was the one forced to eat there since they were not showing any interest at all to ask me what do I want to order?!? Very cheap service..!! I went to take a carry out but the guy made me wait more than 30 minutes there and when I went to pay my food the guy was looking at me until The tips option was gone. Well, what did he think? I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT GIVE HIM A TIP FOR GIVING ME SUCH SERVICE!! Then, he just sign the POS by himself (I don't think it's legal) when I was supposed to sign and have my own consent there. It's not the end, he then left from there without handing the food over me. What a ridiculous attitude!! I swear to not going back there anymore. Last but not the least, the food tasted disgusting. One day ordered beef biryani for me and chicken biryani for my wife. It was almost closed but the front guy let us dine there. They waited for us till we finished. Food was better than some of the regular Indian Resturant. Of course they can do a little better in food by not putting too much oil. Well, I guess that's Bangladeshi style. Came second time and ordered fuchka, goat biryani, roast with polaw and mango lassi. Didn't like the mango lassi. It's not thick as it should be. Felt like drinking flavored water. Rest of the foods were pretty good. I'm dying to eat the kacchi which they only do in Saturday. And also have to try the famous Sunday buffet. read more

Very skilled and versatile chefs (or call them food technologists if you must). We returned to Aladdin a few days ago for the Sunday brunch. Everything was excellent. The idea that their quality has gone down (according to another reviewer) doesn't register with me. I see no change. As a "saucier", I suggest this: Start with their special rice and/or their salad greens. Add 3 or 4 of their best sauces, at different locations on your plate. You have now already loaded one of the best South Asian treats you will ever enjoy. Anything you add on top of that will be "no risk" -- the culinary equivalent of anticlimax. read more

I love their beef tehari. It is really awesome. They also have a good choice of biriyani. You should try the lamb biriyani too. You can also try the traditional shutki (dried fish curry) but it may be bit spicy for your taste. read more

I must confess I'm not sure of the differences between Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine, but this food was delicious. I had a vegetarian sampler, and it was extemely tasty. One of the worst tehari I have tried in my life, it was just some plain rice, meat and potato no spices. If you're looking for authentic Bangladeshi food then I'd recommend avoiding all of the Bangladeshi restaurants in DMV area because the is nothing like back home or not even close. This could've been a 4 star review. This is the 3rd time we are here. Like the first two times, we were happy until we took the second helping of a dish and noticed it was spoilt. That wasn't the worst part though. The worst part was the women at the register refusing to believe us. She first wanted to check herself and took a scoop out of the buffet to smell. I was there with my wife. I took the roast polau and my wife took chicken curry. The curry was ok (at least not bad) but mine was a total fiasco. They put too much artificial flavor in it and I decided not to finish my meal and throw it in trash. They claim that all of their dishes are Bangladeshi cuisine but being a Bangladeshi I knew that it was not true. It's great to have that high quality home-cooking style food since moving to the area and not being able to have my parents' cooking. To start, WOW! Our family of about 50 had Aladdin catered for lunch today and it was phenomenal. We were worried about running out of food, but the portions were huge and everyone walked away from the table full. Our meal began with delicious samoosas. The chicken inside was tender and perfectly cooked. It paired perfectly with the crispy exterior shell (fried to perfection!). Then, we had two large pans of Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandoori Chicken paired with corn, spinach and rice. The combination of flavors was amazing and the color in the dish made for a perfect Instagram photo. If you're in the DMV area, I would highly recommend ordering catering from Aladdin or visiting their restaurant in person. I know I'll be visiting the restaurant in person soon! read more

Words don't do justice to how delicious the food is at this restaurant. As an Indian, the food tastes like an auntie made it at home - it's great! Bengali food is very similar to Indian food FYI. I love that the food isn't doused in cream like at so many Indian joints and instead has lots of flavor and the right amount of heat. I love that the menu changes daily too - I have come here several times and every time I get a different dish and love it. The chicken karahi, chicken korma, beef with cabbage, and samosas are excellent. I also love their Sunday buffet!!! Wonderful food, great service and friendly staff! This is not a fancy place by any stretch of the imagination, but the food and staff make up for the decor. I ordered the Chicken Korma and my husband ordered the Khari Chicken. Both dishes were very good. The Khari was quite spicy, as expected. Don't let the hole-in-the-wall look fool you--the food here is great. It's in a rather unattractive strip along Lee Highway in a space where a lot of previous restaurants have tried and failed. This isn't a place you'd go for a fancy special occasion dinner--it's definitely a no-frills place--but it's great for takeout or a very casual meal. The food is essentially excellent traditional home cooking. There are fancier south asian places in the Arlington/Falls Church area that are also excellent, but Aladdin is aiming for something a bit different. There's good reason that people rave about the somosas--they're very tasty. I preferred the chicken version over the vegetable one, but they're both good. The dipping sauce is especially good. The lamb curry is delicious. It's one of those dishes that sounds simple, but it's also a very good indicator of overall cooking quality. If they can do a good lamb curry, there's a good chance they know what they're doing with the other dishes. I was impressed--it was just the right flavors and heat. And the lamb was tender. They also offer a lamb vindaloo, which I haven't tried yet, but is a bit spicier and adds potatoes. I'll be going back, and I hope that this place stays around for a long time to come. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch and it was pretty good. The restaurant is located in a strip mall off Lee Highway, it is Bangladeshi and co-exists with other ethnic restaurants on the same strip. The owner is a friendly person. The buffet had a good spread with Egg Curry, Rice, Poori Bread, Chicken, Lamb Curry, Potato curry, Dal and a sweet. Some of the dishes are oily. I liked the daal which is a simple boiled yellow lentil dish. They got the taste right. Decor is very plain with tables and chairs. Nothing fancy. Very good for the price of the buffet. We had an authentic Bangladeshi meal with goat curry, chicken tikka, and khichuri for $8 and took some mishti doi to go. The restaurant is small and very community-oriented. Come here and expect to find mostly Bengalis eating with their fingers homestyle. Clearly there are regulars from the community who come here frequently and know each other so it is quite intimidating for folks who are just stopping for a meal and don't know anyone.
