Rasoi is from the owners of Pappe in 14th Street in DC, if that helps! I've always wanted to try there but what looked like possibly the owner, told me these are from the same ownership. The food was pretty good, Momos were juicy, they had some interesting Indian dishes I haven't seen in other places.

I was craving Indian food and wanted to try a new restaurant, so my friend and I stopped by Rasoi this past weekend. They had a separate lunch special menu with a vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali option which caught my eye. I ordered the non-vegetarian thali but there was a mix up, so I was served the vegetarian one. I didn't mind since Indian cuisine does vegetarian options well! VEGETARIAN THALI - 18 I like thalis because I can sample a bunch of different curries. Each order also came with a bowl of basmati rice, a side of naan, and a piece of papadum. From left to right (see attached picture), I got to try the following dishes: + paneer makhani - strong tomato flavor in the curry that went well with the paneer, gently sweet + palak paneer - a bit too salty, but it was creamy and tasted like spinach, no paneer in sight + malai kofta - reminded me of a korma since it was very nutty, contained some veggies and potato chunks + channa masala - chunky and gritty from the chickpeas, very flavorful + kesari kheer - not too sweet, the rice texture was soft but each grain was distinguishable, it was creamy and nutty + cucumber raita - probably should have eaten it with everything together, but decided not to + achar - not the biggest fan of the pickled veggies The pricing was pretty fair and I had enough leftovers for a small meal. My friend got the SALMON TIKKA MASALA which he thought was good, but too heavy and dense. Overall, the food was fine, but nothing stellar. Glad we got to try it though.

A good Indian restaurant in the Dunn Loring neighborhood. I tried their lunch special Vegetarian thali for $18 plus tax. It included paneer curry (4/5), eggplant curry (5/5), dal makhani (4.5/5), green saag curry (2.5/5), rice, butter naan, raita, pickle, and kheer for dessert (4/5). The food was good, and the portion size was filling. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance was great, with modern decor and a well-maintained dining area.

This place is near the metro, so parking can be a bit challenging. It is close to the highway though, which is why I stopped in. I received some high quality and interesting food. My dal had some nice herbal notes, albeit with a clump of dried lentils that didn't quite cook. A samosa chaat was satisfying. Their veg momos did seem to have some paneer in there which might be an issue for some. I took the option to get a lychee juice, which is not a common offering but is quite sweet. It was a bit on the higher end for takeout but I enjoyed all of it.

This is our "butter chicken" lmaooooo

Ordered chicken Tikka masala and butter chicken. Doesn't seem like a hard order to mess up. They gal me dal Mahkni with chicken instead of butter chicken. This would be fine as they were obviously low on supplies but for $70? No no no. Give a trustworthy local Indian place your money not them.

5 starts all around! Clean pleasant mid-size dining room, easy carry-out, free garage parking, wonderful lunch deals, very nice staff and most importantly --- excellent Vindaloo , fragrant rice, delicious smooth mango lassie! Restaurant smells amazing. Will definitely be back!

    Lunch thali

The lunch thali (platter) was delicious and very substantial. It came with an assortment of curries, sides and a dessert, and all of it was excellent. Will be back for sure!

My grandson and I discovered Rasoi today and we love it! The food was fresh and delicious! We had Salmon tikka masala and goan shrimp masala, both were tasty! The shrimps were big!! They used fresh garlic for naan. We will be back!

This place use to be the old spice 6 modern Indian restaurant. It's now a new more modern Indian restaurant, the ac was a bit too powerful for my kids and they felt too cold inside. We ordered the chicken tikka, 2 garlic naans and a lamb biriyani to share. I have to say the food was just ok, it's more catered for westernized palates than Indians, with too much cream in the curry, food is a bit bland and tasteless. Naan was the best part of our meal. I hope these are just teething issues, as it's just opened and fairly new.

I found this place at the base of a mixed use development. It had garage parking nearby. My chickpeas were spicy as ordered, and came with two nicely puffed breads, and an array of pickled onions with a fried chili pepper. It was a proper rendition of the dish. Someone else ordered the same thing and asked for extra salt to dump on the chickpeas, which just baffled me. The flavor was ample. I also ordered a chai, and while they call it a cutting chai (which I understand to mean cut in half in size), it was a decent amount and a nuanced mix of spices. The owner was a little odd and was making calls to various tables and being kind of pushy such that it made one little girl uncomfortable to the point where her party complained about it, which was acknowledged by staff. I would advise them to put the customer's well-being first, but neither I nor the offended parties would seem to have any compunctions about coming back for the food.

On our first visit, they were extremely busy and we didn't have a reservation, but the staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating while we waited for a table. Megha, in particular, was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, she made us feel truly at home. She consistently checked on us, made sure everything was perfect, and provided some of the best service we've experienced. Since that first visit, we've already been back two more times -- twice for dinner and once for their Sunday brunch. Every single visit has been exceptional. The service is always outstanding, and the food never disappoints. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any dish on the menu, and their brunch is phenomenal. I do have to mention the Butter Chicken -- it's easily one of the best I've ever had. The garlic naan and rosemary naan are also incredible and such a unique touch. What makes this place even more special is the consistency and hospitality. Megha always greets us warmly, remembers us by both face and name, and genuinely makes every visit feel personal and welcoming. We absolutely love this restaurant, and it will definitely remain one of our go-to spots. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for amazing food and exceptional service.

The space is beautiful and feels much more upscale than the prices would suggest. I was honestly shocked by how reasonable everything was. The Bollywood music added to the atmosphere and made the whole experience feel even more fun. The restaurant was fairly busy when we visited, so I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the service was. We ordered the chili garlic noodles, ragda pattice (for the full Mumbai street food experience), date naan, and the paneer lababdar that was recommended by the staff. Every single dish was flavorful and delicious. The paneer lababdar was especially good, and the date naan was a pleasant surprise. The bathrooms were clean, parking was easy, and overall the experience was very comfortable. As for the service, the staff were perfectly polite and efficient, though not particularly warm or engaging. Nothing negative at all--just not the type of place where the staff goes out of their way to chat. That said, with food this good and a restaurant this busy, it hardly affected the experience. Overall, the food was absolutely the star of the show. If you're looking for flavorful Indian food in the area, Mumbai Central is definitely worth a visit.

Now, my husband and I have moved away, as have our adult daughters and their families. Upon returning for a wedding in Vienna, VA, we HAD TO return to Jaipur for their Saturday lunch buffet. We made reservations for our large party -- 9 adults and 3 babies under the age of 3 months. The table was ready for us -- and nicely set -- but it was difficult for a large party to maneuver to the buffet given the bench seating. One of the servers thoughtfully offered high chairs for the babies, but all three were still too small to sit independently. As before, the servers were attentive -- refilling our water glasses, bringing fresh naan to the tables, and clearing away used plates. As before, the 'quality' of the food preparation was excellent. One could always depend upon Jaipur for richly-flavored appetizers, meat and vegetable entrees, and desserts. We especially enjoyed the lamb curry, the lentil daal, cold garbanzo bean salad, and the chili shrimp. That said, we were a bit disappointed in the 'selection' of dishes on the buffet this time. The main issue was that three of the dishes on the buffet tasted as if they were in the same sauce -- a butter chicken; cauliflower in a butter sauce curry; and paneer in seemingly the same butter sauce. The buffet has also become expensive, at $22.95/adult, before taxes and tip. We probably will return to Jaipur when next in the area for a special occasion, and we were pleased to introduce the restaurant to some long-term Vienna residents who hadn't previously visited. That said, we would likely visit other, less pricey, Indian buffet restaurants for more everyday dining.

A concerted effort towards variety is evident, with distinct proteins and vegetarian choices in specific curries/sauces creating a beautifully balanced array of different colors. I love this. (An example of the opposite: When there's a paneer tikka masala AND a chicken tikka masala on a buffet - I don't count these as being 2 different entrées.) Saffron is way better than the musty neighbor Haandi Indian across the street. A long time local recommended Haandi over Saffron and I believe she must have lied to me about having tried Saffron, because there is absolutely no comparison. Saffron is wayyy better. There is actually flavor and attitude in the dishes at Saffron. Haandi is boring and bland. Pro tip: ask for your naan bread "crispy" and it will come out nice and toasted. Naan is included with the lunch buffet. Would be 5 stars if it were $15. $22 can get you AYCE made-to-order sushi lunch down the street, so $20 for Indian buffet lunch here seems all-the-money. Delicious, though! Oh and another possible star deduction reason: I saw a few stains on some tablecloths at Saffron that appeared to be days-old from not being changed or noticed. This is a "glass top on top of red tablecloth" kind of place. They need to get rid of the tablecloths if they're not changing them with each customer.
