We hired Emily Barraclough and Esther McClay and could not have been happier. We had a complex situation, relocating from Southern to Northern California. In addition, we had to find a home over the holidays, as well as long distance. We were impressed from the outset at how prepared, informed, and professional Emily and Esther were. Within an hour of letting them know we wanted to retain them as our agents, we were on tour throughout the Pleasanton area, viewing all of the available properties in our price range. Emily & Esther were very patient that first day, and paid close attention to all of the details that were important to us. They didn't just listen to what we said; they observed us and our reactions to the properties we were looking at. After exhausting all of the limited inventory that first day, my wife and I flew back south without having found a new home. But we returned two weeks later, and after we decided to view a home we had previously disregarded, decided we were happy with it and should make an offer. Ours was a complex transaction. We had only entered escrow on the house we were selling, which made it contingent. My wife and I were in different cities most of the time and so signing documents was challenging. Our selling escrow ran into some delays; we also had a few hiccups in lining up our financing. Throughout all of this, Emily & Esther were champs. They made sure we always were on top of things; they didn't let US drop the ball. We certainly never had to worry about them dropping it. As our San Diego escrow was delayed, the sellers started getting very worried; we had to extend the escrow for the purchase. Emily kept the sellers and their agent calm, managed their expectations beautifully, and we closed just a few days late...all because of the San Diego property, not the Pleasanton one. On top of this, Emily or Esther were always, always available and helped in many ways that a realtor doesn't have to. They provided very detailed information about the schools and services in the area. They helped line us up with a handyman to make some improvements before we moved in. One of them was always available to meet or talk to us; which was critical, since we either had to fly in or arrange conference calls. I also must go out of my way to say that they are both really, really nice people. Could not recommend them more highly. I hope it's a long time before I need a realtor in the area again, but I will call them first. read more

We recently worked with Emily Barraclough. I don't believe there is a better realtor out there! She was super patient and truly informative to us. We are first time buyers and she walked us through every step of the way. I will and have recommended her to friends and family. I think any other realtor would have given up on us because we were very picky and had a tight budget but she was amazing. She went out of her way so many times to help us out and she stuck up for us as her clients to make sure we got the best deal on the house. Our loan process was not easy but that had nothing to do with Emily or APR. Loans are very hard right now and we kept having to prove more paperwork but in the end we did close and we got a house we love. Emily did everything in her power to push the loan agent to get our loan done on time, even though this was outside of her duties as a realtor. Someday when we out grow this house or decide to buy a second one we will definitely use Emily again. I really can't say enough amazing things about her. If you are not sure who to go with or unsure about anything I would recommend calling Emily and after just a few minutes I am sure you will feel the same way about her. read more

We just closed escrow on a home purchase with our agent Emily Barraclough. Not only did we get the first house we offered on but our offer was accepted as is, no counter offer. We were in shock in the best possible way! Emily wrote a perfect, strong offer on our behalf. We were able to close in 25 days and everything that passed through Emily's hands was flawless and simple. We are so thrilled with our new home and working with Emily was a joy. She is fun, timely, knows her stuff, and we trusted her completely. For as long as we live in the Pleasanton area Emily will be our gal! And I have to comment on the review below by Alexa. Seriously? 6% is standard commission for a home sale and if she wanted something lower she should have negotiated. I can't imagine leaving someone a bad review because of their own lack of understanding. read more

I'm sure this Alain Pinel is a top notch Realty office, but this review is specifically for Esther McClay. We met Esther at an Open House for a mansion way outside of our price range 3 1/2 years ago. We knew once the market recuperated, a home sale was in our future and perhaps another purchase. Finally, this past Spring, Esther hired the best photographer, did WONDERFULLY effective marketing, gave us great advice on staging and walked me through EVERY step of the selling process (even when things got frustrating) and sold our home in ONE weekend! She was effective, friendly, calm (when I wasn't) hands on and just a stellar woman! Although we are moving out of the area now and Esther cannot be the Buying Agent for our new home, she continues to show exceptional service. We recently met for iced teas so Esther could drop off mail that's not being forwarded properly...while meeting, she reviewed our current offer letter and gave us great advice on strategies to move ahead with our current purchase. She's not involved in our current buying transaction, but she continues to help; I can't say enough about how "above and beyond" she's gone for us. Tonight I will toast to Esther with the champagne she gave us for our wedding, over the steak dinner that she gave us as a gift for our business. Stay away - far, far away! After our agent and their recommended lender weren't giving us answers, I spoke with the branch manager regarding a home we had entered into contract on. Ron Faught, the branch manager, told us with certainty that our loan would be closing within the week. With this information, we put in our 30 day notice, only to receive word one week later that the loan wasn't approved with their lender (would have been approved with our lender). Thanks to the people at this office, our family will not have a place to stay at the end of this month! read more

After seeing a home we decided turn in our application. The fax number on the app was wrong. We had to make multiple calls and leave multiple messages before the Realtor Sam called us back. Finally after we faxed our app to him he kept telling us "by the end of today I will have answer" after multiple attempts at trying to reach him. This was the most difficult process I've ever been through with a "professional" Realtor. I will never deal with this group again. I recommend staying away from this group!!! read more

Linda Futral of Alain Pinel Realtors helped us buy our home just about 2 years ago now in Livermore. We were first time home buyers and she was such a pleasure to work with. She was so patient and understanding as we had little idea on what we were looking for. She helped guide us in the right direction by discussing particular areas in terms of benefits and potential drawbacks. She was able to help us close in (if I remember correctly) 14 days. I was pretty on top of getting documents back asap so I like to think I played a part in that but really its to her credit as she was with me every step of the way. When you go through such a stressful and huge life changing purchase you really need someone to lean on (especially you first time home buyers) and I absolutely recommend her to anyone I know. She is so sweet - she even gave us different housewarming gifts. 1 year later she still surprised us with a congratulatory custom made cutting board with our names on it. Not too many realtors will go to your house, make your beds, load your dishwasher, vacuum and sweep ... all because a family wanted to come over to view your house in 30 minutes...and I was at a play date in San Jose for the day. But Robin did. Robin Young was on top things and supported us in getting full asking price and a super smooth escrow. I am a novice when it comes to working with a Realtor and I dreaded the idea of having to interview several realtors in order to sell a home, when I talked to my brother about it he recommended his realtor, Robin Young of Alain Pinel Realtors. I met Robin for the first time, she was very professional, personable and thoughtful with a wealth of knowledge of the real estate market in the area. I had explained to Robin that I had put the Uncle in an assisted living facility and needed to sell his house "as is" and get the most money possible in order to pay for his care. Within a week Robin had scheduled the roof, termite and chimney inspections, she also schedule a cleaning service to come after we had moved everything out of the house. Robin put together a marketing strategy to use while I was out of the country for week and it included putting up a for sale sign, delivery of 200 flyers around the surrounding neighborhoods, hosting a Brokers Tour, and held an open house on the weekend, all the while keeping me informed throughout the week to the results of her marketing plan and the activity surrounding the house. Three days after I arrived home, Robin went through a surprising 38 plus offers on the house, with her guidance, knowledge and direction I was able to pick the best offer. During the close of escrow Robin and I met at the title company so if I had any questions about the closing documents she would be there to answer them. Robin Young is the quintessential realtor, the complete package, the best of the best and I recommend her to anyone that is looking for an exceptional Realtor, in the future I will absolutely ask for her expertise, knowledge and guidance in my next sell and purchase. read more

We called to make an appointment to view a rental property Alain Pinel is managing. Prior to making the appointment, we disclosed we had a pet. We were told the owner would consider a pet if we paid an additional $1,000 deposit to which we agreed. We paid Alain Pinel $50 in cash for an application fee but were not provided a receipt. This should have been our first clue. We were told someone would contact us Saturday regarding the rental. When I had not heard from them by Wed I called and was told the property owner did not want a dog living on the property. If the property owner had no intention of considering allowing pets, Alain Pinel Realtors had a duty to inform me and should not have accepted my $50 application fee knowing full well my application would not be considered. At best they were clueless and careless. At worst I was deceived. read more

Our agent worked with them (seller's agent) for an offer and the seller's agent has been unresponsive pretty much. In the few others offers we have made, one notable thing is that the sellers agents have the courtesy to respond your agent's queries. Might be too much success to be kind? Stay away from these people when it comes to renting, one realtor is Jo Ann Luisi, she cares about nothing but her bottom dollar. She has never handled a rental before, but did for a friend and we happened to rent form them. We asked for additional two weeks after our lease was up but instead of working with us, they chose to not give us that time so they could sell the house and she could get her commission. I am a veteran and I have to pack up, move out, put all our things in storage and move into a hotel all over fourteen days, unbelievable. If she is willing to do this to renters, just think what she does when selling a home. Beware read more

Linda Futral, of Alain Pinel Realtors, did an amazing job getting our house sold! She has extreme patience, with us and the potential buyers, and an amazing knowledge base and Rolodex. Linda did an excellent job walking through our house to prep for the sale, letting us know what we should consider working on for the best marketability. She had names of trades-people and others that assisted in getting the house prepped in a timely (aka quick) turn-around. Linda kept us up-to-date via email, text, phone calls that let us know the current status. Her marketing plan was outstanding - photographs, videos, brochures. Linda helped us negotiate through the contracts, disclosures, and many other tasks and explained these many items to us in simple terms. Working with the buyers agent was a nightmare (inexperienced) and Linda kept us calm, discussing strategy and options with us, and assisted the buyers agent in understanding how to get to the end. I highly recommend Linda Futral to anyone in the Tri-valley area that is looking to sell their home. She will work with you as individuals, and understands how to get a house sold. read more

We sold our house through Alain Pinel Pleasanton on Main Street and used Linda Goveia as our agent. Worst experience ever! You had to schedule your open houses around her personal schedule. On many occasions, she had another random realtor hold it for you, as she was too busy. On many weekends, there was no open house, as no one was available to do it. In addition, she is more worried about becoming friends with the buyers agent than watching out and negotiating for your best interests as her client. Worst of all, she shares your personal and financial information with everyone!! I heard all of our personal information via Linda coming back at me from my friends at my gym. Bottom line, you pay a good fee to your realtor for selling your house, you expect GREAT service and professionalism. Unfortunately, with Linda Goveia, this was not the case. You can and should find a better realtor to work with you to sell your home. read more
