They were good at refurbishing my transmission but I had further complications due to the installation and connection to the shifter. They kept putting my repair off. They often don't answer the phone. The front desk person is often out of the office so even if you drop by in person you may not get helped. I eventually gave up and won't recommend them again. read more

If I can give them NO stars I would. I came in with my 05 honda needing a new catalytic converter. I just had my son and this guy just kept playing in my face. The part was located I paid for it and once it was on it would not pass smog. The Bureau of automotive and repair told him the cat was the wrong one. Mind you kept my car for weeks after this trying to " fix the issue". Mind you I just had a c section and had my son an this guy would keep my car in the shop for days turning into weeks until I came to come get my car. When I came to get it he claimed he texted me to get my car an he texted the wrong number. The owner kept tryna argue with me that he texted me until I showed him that infact wasn't even my phone number. Sergio said he changed out the cat to a new one and NOPE, I took it right back to my smog place where he showed me the numbers were exactly the same. I texted him an told him he did not in fact change it out and I was becoming infuriated. This guy is so untrustworthy, I went to another guy to put the correct cat on my car and he nicely wrapped my old one. I texted Sergio an told him to give my my money back for this useless part an take his cat back an he didn't respond. Left me on read so I got in contact with the BAR an had them set up the meet along with my refund. They tried to offer CASH ofc bc its all under the table; but nope cash is not acceptable. They're lucky they are refunding me because I was this close to taking them to civil court . He had just kept apologizing i didn't need an apology I needed my car fixed like I paid for not to be lied too about it. This place is trash and dishonest DO NOT COME HERE. He called on Saturday and quoted me a price and I said ok let's do it. I have been going to Alameda Transmission's For at least the past six years. Sergio, Mac's Son/in- law Is the main guy there now who takes in the cars. I am so disappointed because I really trusted them! They would "Always" keep my vehicle-for WEEKS at a time. Good thing I had a spare vehicle to get around in. The last time I took my car into their shop, they kept it for 27 days. When Sergio finally called me to pick it up, the handbrake still wouldn't engage. After leaving the shop, I circled back around to let Sergio know. He says to me "as you use it, it'll adjust itself." I drove it for about a week, taking him at his word. Called him and he said to bring it back in so he could check it out, but I didn't because I didn't want them to have my car another 20 some days. I have a new mechanic now that repaired my hand brake for FREE !!! That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I will never, EVER, go back to them again! read more

Don't bring your car here. Sergio will smile in your face and tell you lies. They said that they rebuilt my transmission and charged me $3K but when I got the back it still had problems shifting and was leaking transmission fluid. I took it to another shop and they took the transmission out and showed me how Alameda Transmission had not done the work and still had the old bands and seals. They said they had replaced the torque converter as well but it was clear that it was still the old one as well. I went back to them to show them photos of it and to get my money back and they flat out denied it and refused to refund me. These guys are thieves and I am writing this to warn others so you don't get ripped off like I did. read more

Okay so where do I start had my transmission done here about 2 months ago transmission lasted six thousand miles. I like that the owner tells you that he will do something and does the opposite employees there say you must talk to Mac the owner who always mysteriously disappears when you need to talk to him it is my second time back here today to be told he'll be back in a half an hour. Also seems to be that they will not warranty their warranty work either. I would for surely find a different transmission shop to take your vehicle to would not ever refer anyone here again. For warranty on our transmission and less than a month or two later, they will not honor the warranty claiming there's nothing wrong with the transmission. Clearly there is. When they were putting the new transmission into our van, we saw it leaking some fluid they told us this wasn't an issue. Obviously it is an issue as our van is now broken down and we are going to have to pay thousands to go elsewhere as these scammers don't want to honor what they promised us/what we paid for. You know what they say, "shit in, shit out" and that's what we are stuck with. This place sucks. I wouldnt even give it 1 star. I was referred here by a family member so I thought it was somone we could trust. We took it in and Macario (owner) said he would have to keep our car for 2 weeks. I agreed and came back after 2 weeks and the car was sitting in the exact same place I left it and he told me he hadnt gotten to it yet and he needed 2 extra weeks. Again I agreed and when I came to pick it up he said it was finally ready when I got into my car there was crayon all over the seats and my car smelled strongly like beer. Something that I did not do. When I told him about it he laughed and sarcastically said, I have no idea. What is that supposed to mean?! The following week my car wasnt working again so I took it back. He said there must have been something wrong and that he had to remove the motor to check and just that was going to more than $1000. I was not happy but I needed my car fixed so I agreed. Again my car had to stay in the shop another 2 weeks. I left it and returned to weeks later. When I was picking up my car I noticed a fairly large on the left side of my car that I am 100% sure wasnt there. When I confronted him about this he responded saying his shop was to small to have all the cars so he took it across he street to a Dollar Tree parking lot and they must have hit it there. Again all he did was laugh it off. He continued to overcharge me for everything and I know I spent more than $5000 here. Plus he didnt fix my dent or do anything about the crayon on the seats and the strong beer scent. I referred my customer to this shop and I went there to get estimate to assist our long time customer. I was coordinating this repair. Mac (owner) told me about $1600, maybe cheaper but MAC needed to open transmission to see extent of damage. (for reference AAMCO diagnoses and estimates for free and then they call you with price and you then choose whether to perform work or NOT!!) I take all calls here and no call was received. OK we are in the automotive industry and have worked with dozens of shops. We have done this many times and the process is familiar. Why would I authorize this repair at this price? Our primary shop for this repair was roughly $1500. This was closer to the vehicle so we figured that may be more convenient depending on PRICE. The bill for an unexplained reason arrived at $2300. Ok next as they skipped right past calling up with estimate, having us authorize work, informing of any progress or even telling us its done. To be clear my interaction went from a promise to call with estimate to dropping of a car we don't own and attempting to force delivery of services... Owners Daughter KAREN GARCIA; a very young lady lacking anything resembling basic human etiquette walks in unannounced. She walks in drop a $2300 unauthorized bill on the owners desk and asks for a check. This was estimate only so with a puzzled look we tried to figure out what happened as we assumed it was a mix up as there was no work authorized. I asked her politely "who authorized this repair?" and IN MY OFFICE TURNED TOWARDS ME AND SAID "...AAND WHY ARE YOU SPEAKING TO ME?" Seriously I am more curious than offended. So you understand were still waiting for repair estimate of $1600 or "maybe less". so this was interesting and we were confused. We never dropped off car, the owner of vehicle did. We didn't know why you were even here. No one authorized anything other than a estimate. They performed work without authorization at a cost of 35%-45% higher than the shop we normally use in San Francisco. After her clever underhand zinger I was taken aback and the person she was facing looked at me with curious surprise. Keep in mind all sarcasm to her comment never left our imagination. With a puzzled face I rephrased "did the vehicle owner authorize this job?" As I was seriously trying to find out how we incurred this debt to this shop. Karen EXTENDED HER ARM WITH HER HAND FLAT towards me without even dignifying me with a glance. In my office. And she had a child with her during this. Now if you use this gesture it means "SILENCE" "Stop Speaking you have nothing of value to say to me". It implied that the daughter of the proprietor feels herself so high and mighty that peasants such as myself are not worthy of her ears. It implies that for some reason I am below her. I stated 2 questions and this is my treatment. I asked her for her name and that ended that. She was informed that this is not how we behave and she got a little uh ghetto? Im not sure what adjective to apply here and I am still amazed that a young woman decided to silence a customer with a hand gesture. In his office. We never spoke to her or been familiar with her in any way before this and she went back to her garage and called to tell me that I told her I authorized the labor. What? At my office you DID NOT KNOW and had to talk to your dad then you personally received my authorization. I authorized a job I wasn't financially responsible for. MAKES SENSE. She then Proceeded to yell at me through the phone and I didn't really feel like taking that. read more

I took my BMW in for a gasket once I left it was still leaking oil I took it back come to find out they broke the gasket cover I had to pay an extra $500 for something that they messed up and they took more than three days when they were supposed to only take a day with my car place is a big Rip off I was supposed to only pay $471 end up having to pay $1000 for the work and they told me I could not take my car and less I paid threatening me read more

My car was leaking transmission fluid so I brought it to Alameda Transmission to get a repair estimate. I had been told by another shop that my transmission bearings were bad but I wanted a second opinion. They put the car on the rack and looked it over. They told me they might be able to fix the problem without having to rebuild the transmission. The service advisor told me they could fix it by putting in a transfer case with the bearing built in. They just needed to drop the transmission and add the new part. The whole job would be $2100 parts and labor. This didn't sound right to me so I called around and spoke with another shop. They told me a transfer case is for a 4x4, not a 2 wheel drive which is what I have. They put the car on the rack and correctly diagnosed that the problem. It wasn't an issue with the transmission, instead it was a bad RF Axel and Axel Bushing which was causing transmission fluid to leak on the ground. They were able to fix my car in half a day for about 1/3 of the cost Alameda was going to charge me for the wrong fix to my car. read more

Took my chevrolet truck here with a 4L60E transmission to have it rebuilt. 2months later fter the rebuild it broke down again same problem, i lost all gears. I have a 1998 Chevrolet truck the most common transmission rebuilt. I have been back 7 + times since he "fixed" it. Everytime I get it back it does the same thing. I lose all gears while I'm driving it. This is the worst place I have ever taken my car to. I would not recommend you take your car here any car the owner seems to have no idea about Transmissions. If I could write them 0 Stars I would. Please do not take your car here. I had to take my car to a different transmission shop because he never fixed it like he said. I paid them $1,200 to replace a sensor on my transmission last year. After a year, the same problem occured. I take it back to them. On the way home from work I notice that 1. He has stored my car on the curb (literally, the tires were on the sidewalk), and 2. there's a major tear in the leather. I come back the next day, after he tells me the transmission issue has been fixed, and I bring up the fact that my seat has been torn. He denies it. I say, fine, since he hasn't charged me.
