About 10+ years ago, I was first recommended to go to Ventura auto repair by one of the local auto parts stores. Ventura Auto repair has always been my go to shop, for most things automotive. The guys down there care about doing good work and are virtually working from open to close. They work so hard, I've yet to see them even take breaks. They take great pride in their work and it shows. Throughout the years of going there, I've yet to have any regrets and they continue to offer great service, at a very reasonable price. In Aug 2024, my 2015 civic was failing to shift, something going on with the CVT. Ventura was close by and the reviews were decent. It took a few days to fix and turned out to be my transmission speed sensor. The price was "reasonable"(?) less than $400 and fixed fairly quickly in a few days. Fast forward 5 months when it's time for me to change the oil. I crawl under the engine, and what do I see? Nothing... what happened to my engine shield and all the other cowlings? I thought perhaps, it fell off, but all the other cowlings as well with NO damage? Then I remember, there was an issue that required that to be removed, and likely not replaced - that means the shop is NOT ORGANIZED? I don't know how you can not know that 4 large pieces are sitting around your garage. Now it's another $200+ to spend fixing the fixers issues. I could have taken it to a honda dealer, paid dealer pricing, and got out the door cheaper. That's what I get for giving the small guy a chance. read more

they charge lower prices than other places, but they fix your issue and create another. I got something fixed on my car that cost around $1500. then when I got it back, the gear shift was damaged/loose/broken. we took it back for them to fix it (they charged us for the repair-part and labor) and our starter began having issues and our car began to stutter before it turned on. we had replaced the starter at another place only 2 years prior so it's highly unlikely that it just suddenly stopped working after getting getting our car back when we previously had had no issues with the starter since the replacement. read more

I went in today to have Junior take care of my repairs after having a station in Walnut Creek tell me I needed several parts replaced on my front end barrings, and driving whatever. Junior took a look and said it was not necessary at all. I just appreciate this family owned business so much! I have had several cars now that they have taken care of for me over recent years. I have been going to Ventura Auto Repair since the day they opened. From the head gaskets to the oil changes, these folks have always given me a more than fair price, much better than I could get anywhere else, & they have always done excellent work. I've never had to go back to tell them about something they missed. When they tell me my vehicle is ready, it's actually ready to hit the road. These guys messed up our car. Our car's alternator gives out, bring it in to get it replaced. A month or two later the alternator gives out again.. take it back and they said they installed a "bad one" and tried to charge for a new one... A few months after installing a new one, the whole engine gives out, we bring it in and they suggest a whole new engine, paying more than $3K. After being installed and taking the car home, the amount of vibration that came from the car was like sitting in a massage chair, I take it back, the answer I get. "We installed the old engine mounts" if its a new engine and you saw they were already bad, why reinstall it?? Then to make it better, the new ones they install not only made me have to pay but also they weren't the right ones so no wonder the car still vibrated. Today, about a month later, the serpentine belt is bad, again.. why install the same old bad one if YOU YOURSELF know it needs to be replaced. They never called or asked if I wanted to change anything that needs to be. I confronted them about this and they felt offended. NEVER having my business again. These guys are nothing but scum trying to cheat people. If you go here, be careful. read more

My daughter brought her car in for a tuneup and inspection. She was called to pick it up for a $580 bill (not including taxes). Even when requested, she was not provided with an itemized invoice indicating cost of parts, cost of labor. My vehicle was rattling pretty bad and I needed an oil change. It was getting worse each day so I got desperate and found Ventura. They were very polite and said to bring it right over. I dropped it off and Jr. and his father got back to me saying it was the timing belt. They quoted me a good price (I did compare) and had it done with in 24 hours. It runs beautifully now. This shop is a life saver. They have excellent customer service. Junior was a pleasure to work with. I came in with my car overheating and let him know that I would need the thermostat replaced. I provided him with the part myself as well as a new gasket for it. Upon inspection, Junior realized that I would need the radiator replaced, I said go for it. My car was good to go the following day, no check engine lights visible. Also keep in mind that I took my car to my regular mechanic twice for this issue and he was not able to resolve it. I brought my car here because my check engine light was on, and I needed to resolve that to get my car smogged. After diagnosis and speaking with a mechanic, I was told it would be better off to replace my engine. The engine had a lot of miles on it, so I agreed. I did the replacement engine with a used motor for $3900. But guess what, the check engine light was still on. I bring it back to the same shop and the mechanic uses a scanner to run the codes. "Oh, it's your Catalytic converter," I'm told. Now, because of my check engine light being on, they should've already used the scanner to get the codes and should've already known I had a bad cat, right? Anyway, I ask how much for a new catalytic converter, and I'm quoted $1800. I say ok, let's do it. I go to pick up my car and guess what? That's right. The check engine light is still on. One mechanic told me it was a permanent code, another said I have to just keep driving it for the system to reset, and another one even told me not to worry, if it didn't go away just bring the car back and they'd make sure I passed smog. None of that happened. I brought the car back a third time but was told I needed to take it to the dealership to fix. I pay $6,000 and the problem isn't fixed and I'm not even offered a refund, just take it somewhere else. Not cool at all. I called and brought the car to the shop and gave these guys so many chances to make this right. They didn't. Look, if you can't fix it, I understand, but don't take my money and leave my car in worst shape than when I brought it to you. That's right, my car now says "engine power reduced" and doesn't accelerate well. It's obviously related to the engine or catalytic converter work they did but they won't admit it. I spent a lot of money here and wasn't taken care of. I don't like writing bad reviews, but what the hell else am I supposed to do when I paid good money and got no results. read more

it all started when my car needed a tune up . I brought my car in was driving smooth for a few days then all of a sudden my car was jumping , punting and smoking . Check Engine Light came on after leaving Home for work. Ventura answered the phone on the first ring, said they could do a diagnostic for $20 and got me right in when I arrived. My Mom asked me to help her get new brakes on her BMW SUV. After getting quotes of over $1000 from the dealer & $900-$1000 from Big O Tires on Park St., I called up Martin at Ventura Auto Repair. He quoted me $450 out the door. That included parts & labor. The rotors needed to be turned and that was included in the price. We dropped off Mom's car & went back a few hours later & was done as promised. No surprises & no BS. I was very pleased with Ventura Auto repair & have taken mine & my girlfriends cars in for minor repairs & received the same excellent service & very reasonable pricing.
