I'm really excited to have my patio screened by Shading Texas. From estimate to completion, it was a pleasure to work with them and have helpful communication throughout the process. I had permanent triangular screens installed at the top that was done ahead of time. When the motorized screens came in, I noticed the material looked different. Not sure if what was off, but they recognized the difference and came out to replace them so that they matched perfectly. I love the idea of having a bit of privacy and yet still being able to look out onto the view! Looking forward to less bugs (I live on a greenbelt) and using it throughout the winter with a bit of a heat source! If you're in the market, be sure to call these folks and give them a chance for your project. Great product and service!

We could not be more happy with our screened in porch! We really enjoy the 3 screens controlled by 1 remote control and we use our porch now year round. We've been able to create an outdoor living room, keeping the screens down most of the time since they can withstand 100mph winds. This keeps everything inside protected from dust & pollen. Then we can raise the screens anytime we want more air flow. Shading Texas has been very responsive with any issues we've had & corrected things right away. Would highly recommend them.

My husband and I love our new motorized sun screen shade. We can now enjoy our patio for the upcoming summer, and also this winter. Jared and his team were great from the initial free consultation to the day of the installation!!!! Very professional, and took their time installing the shade. You even receive a military discount, which we loved and appreciated a lot!!! We're planning on installing a privacy screen for our garage next year, so we definitely going to call Jared!!!!! Thanks Jared for installing our motorized sun shade, and for the awesome quality product that your company have. Keep up on your quality service. We enjoyed your service and you are the BEST!!!!

Large floor to ceiling blackout shade, down.

We moved into a new home and the bedroom had floor to ceiling windows facing the setting sun. Our bedroom would get 15 degrees hotter every afternoon. Jared came in and we decided on one huge "blackout blind". This was a HUGE project, and I had my doubts, but they came out and had it installed within the afternoon once the large special order blind had arrived (just a couple of weeks later). We are SO pleased with it. With a touch of a button, it's easily up, down or anywhere in between. We love the way it looks on the outside and the very low clearance to the house. Simply fantastic work. Jared and Matt have been so wonderful throughout the process and have come at a moment's notice when the wet cold changed it and was having trouble getting over the swollen wood of the house. They quickly fixed it and it's worked perfectly ever since. (so quiet!)

A couple of days later we regretted the color and the solid pattern we had chosen, and called Matt to change it.

This review is warning to what can potentially happen if you take contractors at their word…read more I reached out Austin Pergola Company in order to see if a carport would be feasible in my neighborhood. There are many carports in my neighborhood that were similar to what I envisioned on the side of my lot. They told me to send them a survey of my home and we would discuss over the phone if it was possible. This should have been the first RED FLAG. In all my questions that involved permitting Lauren would always make sure the discussion was over the phone. On our phone call I was assured that they could install the carport with no issue. They said I could get a permit, but was not required based on the size of the carport. In reality the City of Austin requires ANY structure attached to your house to be permitted! The size is irrelevant! My other concern was that the carport would get too close to the neighboring property. Aaron said based off the survey and on-site visit they did, this would not be an issue. They said they would build a carport with no overhang and they could use my existing driveway in order to avoid going onto the neighboring property. What instead happened is the carport was built with an overhang that went onto my neighbor's property by 4-6 inches. When my neighbor went to sell their home this caused issues for them and they reported the overhang to the city. When I tried to get the carport permitted I was surprised to find that it was basically un-permittable. There are NO exceptions to the 5 foot side setback in Austin! This was contrary to what Austin Pergola told me over the phone. They had told me everything would be done up to code and I could get it permitted if I wanted. I assumed that Austin Pergola Company would know the rules around permitting pergolas/carports within the City of Austin. This company really shouldn't be advising people about permitting and surveys if they have no idea what they are talking about. In all likelihood they do know the rules, they are banking on the fact that most of the time any issues pop up after they have already been paid. In Texas, contractors are not required to have a general contracting license. This means if you are working with unlicensed contractors (such as Austin Pergola Company), they are held to no standard (unlike electricians/plumbers). You as the homeowner are essentially the general contractor at that point. So you have to keep them in line. You have to know all the rules about permitting. You will have to make sure they construct your project on your property. I assumed when you are spending over 10k on a project they take care of you, but that simply isn't the case. If the project you are considering is at all attached to your home or anywhere close to 5 feet from the border of your property I would highly recommend using a different company. Try to find a contractor that will obtain the necessary permits. If a company is unwilling to obtain permits for their own work, it should be a red flag that the work they are doing may be difficult/impossible to permit. At the very least make sure you get everything discussed in writing. Any discussion over the phone and not in the contract is basically irrelevant. Do not take their word about anything related to permitting or surveys. No matter what they tell you issues do come up. I was able to use the carport for only 3 months before I had to take it down and I am now out over $10,000 on this project. References: https://www.austintexas.gov/page/work-exempt-building-permits https://www.austintexas.gov/page/how-select-contractor * Additions or alterations to your home contrary to city code may affect title transfers or insurance requirements should you ever decide to sell your home. Therefore, be cautious of contractors who that state no permits or inspections are required. * All contractors are required to obtain permits for their work, thus be wary of a contractor who asks you to obtain a permit on their behalf. The party that obtains the permit is ultimately held responsible for work that does not meet city code.

We had our pergola installed by Austin Pergola Company and they did an outstanding job…read more They worked with us to make sure it is absolutely evetything we want before they put it up. It took me a while to decide on the color as I wanted it to be in very particular hues of grey and they found a perfect match. The quality of their work and customer service is on the highest level. Everyone is polite, professional, knowledgeable, and very nice to deal with. They take real pride in everything they do making sure all is perfect. I cannot find enough words to describe how happy we are. Thank you for your hard work and your talent. If we decide to build another one we are definitely coming back! And recommending you to everyone we know!
