First experience at the Alamo Drafthouse. we got there 20 minutes prior to show time and were told that our showing had been cancelled. So I still don't consider that I got the full AD experience and will comment mainly on the restaurant/bar area. The service was okay, but there was a long wait for food. Drinks were pricey but pretty good. (I recommend the Paris, Texas.) When the food finally came it was excellent. Grown-up Grilled Cheese for the win. If I am able to get back and enjoy a movie I will update my review and hopefully be able to rank it better. But for now, it rates as an expensive but enjoyable meal. read more

By far my favourite place to visit when visiting the bf. We are both big movie fanatics so we go movie hopping night after night (if there's a list of movies that we want to watch) as a treat treating ourselves after a long hard day of dating... sounds funny but it's true because I'm only there to go on dates with him a couple days out of every few months... long distance sucks... :( BUT this place serving us food and drinks as we watch the premiers? I don't like living in west Texas, BUT I don't want to move away because of this theatre. It is by far my favorite theatre: they care about the movie, it is always clean, and the food and drinks are outstanding. It is the highlight of my week when I sit in one of those chairs and settle in for a movie. You won't have any babies crying nor people talking around you here because they have strict no talking rules. Exception: they continually have fun quote-along movies and events. I have had fairly good experiences once I get into the theater. The wait staff always seems to be trying their best, despite the dark theater and little slips of paper on the table notifying them if we need something. The food is comparable to Chili's or Applebee's. However, I ran into problems several times with show times. Google and fandango can't be trusted for show times here. We bought tickets on fandango for Alamo draft house, and fandango sent an email receipt for Tinseltown! You can only trust the Alamo website for accurate view times. read more

Loved this experience!! Seats were super comfy, prices were reasonable, and I love being able to eat pizza and drink beer at the movies. So cool. Only little thing was that there was a funky smell in the hallway, but not in the theatre. Carpets maybe just need a good cleaning. I do not like that no kids under 6 are allowed. Theater is always really clean. I like that they don't let in really little kids. The service however is pretty awful. I have waited 1/2 an hour for popcorn before. It is nearly impossible to get I refill. I have also been charged for food I didn't order or never came out. Now, I usually don't order food when I go to this one. The movie was great! The guy in charge of drinks and such for our row was extremely loud and disruptive running back and forth. Then he hands us our tickets like 45 minutes into the movie???? Guess we were done eating??? Got 4 things of ranch in the little containers all filled about 10% full. Then he picks up my ticket and no one else on my row and doesn't even return the cards and receipts before the movie is over causing a huge cluster after the movie trying to find him and get our credit cards back. Just to find out our tickets WERE ALL WRONG!! Finally the guy comes back in with all sorts of attitude throwing receipts and credit cards at people. I went during their training days so keep that in mind. Love the theater itself but not the service or food. Tickets were easy to buy and pick up. Menu choices were good but pricey.Ordering is easy and the seats are comfortable. The food wasn't fast nor slow. Fried pickles were perfect but the burger was dry. My cookies were slightly burnt and the ice cream melted way too fast (semi puddle when we received it) . Not a lot of parking spots either as it overflowed onto the next lot. When that area is actually developed, it will worsen. I really hope the kitchen will improve its quality, but I will definitely be returning to this place. It's only $9 for a ticket, and they have 4K Sony projectors (not that we're viewing 4K resolution). read more

My husband and I recently saw Star Wars: Rogue One and had one of the best movie experiences ever! We arrived 30 minutes early, but were so entertained by the star wars fan videos pulled from youtube that the time just slipped away. I love that they don't have reruns of advertisements. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were impressed by their menu and ordered the popcorn with extra butter, the salted caramel milkshake, and the ancho chocolate milkshake. The popcorn is fabulous! The flavor of the milkshakes were great, but the texture was like straight warm cool whip instead of cool ice cream whipped to creamy bliss. I love this place, i really do. The reason i gave it 4 instead of 5 stars though is because of two times I've put up notes saying that someone is chatting and nothing changes. Don't advertise before every movie to let the wait staff know about someone talking or on their phone if nothing is going to change. Not that I'm wanting someone kicked out, but i would like them to keep quiet and phones put away while watching a movie. The food is always great, although i don't eat every times i go. I like that i can also choose my seat ahead of time. FYI, they have trivia on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the bar at 8, but arrive early. read more

When this place first opened it was amazing, and the service was great. However, I can't say that any more. The prices for food and drinks are a little high, but not worth the portions you receive. I've experienced long wait times, I've had to wait 45+ for fried pickles and a water. Management seems to be extremely rude as of late. One of the only positives about this place is it being 18+ so there's rarely any kids. I'd only go back there for one of their special screenings, but for any regular movie, you're better off going to another theatre. read more

Went to Alamo Cinema for the first time last week when it wasn't busy (mid-day/mid-week). Really liked the concept and food was good (fish and chips). Staff was very nice and their interactions were not disruptive to the movie at all. Just right. Only thing that was ehhh was the cleanliness of the public areas. Hallways smelled like someone overdid it with the carpet soap months ago and left residual; doesn't smell good at all and now it's attracted every dirt and grime out there. Hard to describe, but has that grimy stink someone who's familiar with commercial carpet cleaning would know. Hard floors were sticky throughout the lobby too. Sad that's what lingers in my experience with the theater... when I get past that, it's really where I'd like to go for my next movie day. read more

This has become a family favorite treat! Dinner and a show. The boys will order pizza, wings and even tacos. I have enjoyed the hummus complete with crunchy vegetables and puts bread. I've been to lots of theaters: reservations, nicer seats, better food, cheaper movies, etc etc, but none of them have the sum quality of Alamo or the cross franchise consistency. I have never had a bad experience with Alamo - exactly once did a movie have technical difficulties (it froze for a few minutes) and without so much as a peep of complaint from the audience, they apologized, told us we'd be getting rain checks for the film, had the movie fixed and back on the road in less than 5 minutes. It was so smooth, I honestly felt like I got a free movie, not like I'd been given a bad movie experience that needed an apology. I've never had the tab come late, my food cold, my order ignored, or any of the sparse complaints that litter the comments and I'm here A LOT. I don't tend to eat a large portion of the menu because I'm dedicated to their non-alcoholic milkshakes and they're huge, so unless I feel like chips and queso, I tend to curl up with my dessert and make it one giant treat. And I honestly don't understand why anyone has a problem with the seats. Sure, you're not in luxury recliners or anything, but they are a bit wider than your average theater seat and there's WAY more leg room, which helps avoid the 'tall heads in front' issue for short people like me, and the scrunched legs for tall people. I've never sat through a movie and went 'Gosh, this seat bothers me'. Perfectly happy as far as I'm concerned. And I was thrilled that tickets are the same price or cheaper than other theaters in town. I can get an honestly better experience for the same price, pick the seats I want in advance and see before I buy whether the theater is so packed I don't want to be there (I don't do well with too many people, so the limited seating is also a big plus for me). Last time my mother came to visit, I brought her here, and it was amazing. She hates going to movies because she can hear the rest of the room crunching popcorn right behind her or squeaking their seats, etc etc - and the extra space made all the difference to her. People could eat through the whole movie and it never felt like they were piled on top of her. She's sworn to never go to another theater and I can't blame her at all. read more

We have been to a few across the state, but live so close before. We stopped to have a drink at the bar before going to a "Movie Party" for The Room. I recently ordered the bacon burger with a fried egg and it was nice and juicy. The loaded fries great too. They also give a student discount! Our server was very prompt to get our order, followed through to make sure I had gotten my correct drink, and was very prompt with a soda and popcorn refill. It's a great idea. You can get food and drink while you watch the movie, without missing anything. The "all you can eat popcorn is great". Their pepperoni pizza is also good. You also can pick you seats, so you don't end up sitting in front of the screen. The seats are very comfortable. I honestly hate having to leave any type of negative feedback, especially for a place that's usually on top of things like Alamo but I have NEVER had such a poor experience as my husband and I endured yesterday. We went to see Suicide Squad at the 3:15 PM showing and naturally we were pumped for the movie. Our waiter was Chad who came up to us within a few minutes of us being seated to take our first drink order; almost exactly 30 minutes later, and after the movie had started, we finally received our drinks which was a whiskey sour and a beer. I initially thought that since the theater was packed service may be running a bit slow today but things got worse. Shortly after receiving our first drinks I decided to put up another order card with our second drink order and an order of popcorn just to insure that if it took another little while to get our order we would be okay... Well, in the 45 minute span it took for a waiter to notice our card (which we stuck out high purposefully to attract their attention) we noticed there had only been a mere 2 employees in the theater who walked right past our order. Upon finally receiving that order (20 minutes later) I noticed that the sangria I had ordered was so watered down that it was almost undrinkable. I put up one more order card for a different drink which took another 20+ minutes to get to us and was given a whiskey sour that was literally HALF the size (in a smaller glass) of the first one I ordered early on. The first thing I looked at when we received our receipt was the charge for the second whiskey sour and of course I was charged full price for the item. I understand that at that time I could have gotten up as the movie was getting close to the end and spoken to a manager about it, however, I honestly didn't want to miss the major parts of the movie since my husband and I paid the extra $10 on top of our ticket price to receive the pint glass. I have never received such a lack of service at any Alamo Drafthouse location I've been to until yesterday. I'm hoping that this review will be seen by upper management so that in the future, especially at any time during an opening weekend for a highly anticipated film, they will hire on more employees to cover the lack of service. I will still return to Alamo as my husband and I generally love going here (the few times a year that we actually get out to see a movie) and will be hoping for an improvement in the service. read more

Recently went there with my family. One of my children ( 10 years old ) picked up a movie magazine that was free. He started looking at it and on the inside cover was an advertisement about a t.v. show and it referred to a " hand job ". Did not appreciate my child being exposed to something like that. Wow. I'm shocked the reviews are so good! The food was mediocre at best, nothing special or even anything I would pay for again. The seats are terribly small and you have a TINY table you have to share with some complete stranger. I've been to the Alamo draft house in ATX, it's older but yet wayyyy better. The poor servers here have to bend down while bringing your food during the movie. I feel the lay out could be better. I have ZERO desire to ever go back. The movie theater in the mall is much better. I will say the staff were all very nice and worked hard! read more

On November 22, 2015, my husband and I saw the James Bond film "Spectre" here. Both of us were impressed by the theater, and enjoyed the show as well as a pepperoni pizza we ate during the movie. I will preface this review by stating a couple of facts - 1) I am a part-time event coordinator for Alamo and host 2-3 events every month and see movies here a couple of times weekly. 2) My 5 star review is mostly for the movie theater aspect, but I will talk a bit about the menu. Alamo Drafthouse is not only the best movie theater in Lubbock, it is the best movie theater chain in the world. From first run blockbusters, arthouse indies, documentaries, and your old favorites, Alamo will play them all pretty much at some point. All of that AND full menu and beverage service from the comfort of your seat while you watch the movie. The servers are not distracting and you write down everything you want on an order card while the film plays and they'll bring you whatever you want. First off, how many other theaters can boast bottomless popcorn and fountain drinks without having to get off your lazy butt and miss some of the movie? And the soda and popcorn prices are no more than any other theater chain. The menu mostly consists of burgers, sandwiches, and pizza and everything is pretty solid. If I were judging it solely as a restaurant, I'd give Alamo 3.5 stars. I've had everything on the menu at some point, but my favorites are the Nashville hot chicken sandwich (get a side of ranch), spicy blue cheese burger, Royale with cheese burger (add an over easy egg), the carnivore pizza, roasted mushroom pizza, smoked bacon and roasted red pepper pizza, cobb salad, hummus, baked pretzel, and fried dill pickles. My wife loves the Philly Cheesesteak and the fish and chips. The shakes and cookie trio are also very good. Beer selection is generally pretty eclectic and they have some interesting mixed drinks. Even if you don't plan on eating, make sure you see a movie at Alamo Drafthouse when you're in Lubbock. And for the love all that is holy, TIP THE SERVERS WELL! read more

They got the tickets confused charged us for things we never received, my daughter never got her food or dessert, we all had to get up multiple times and ask for refills.
