The adults do not have to exit the pool. They have pickle ball. Also a deep dive pool is available. They sell food and drinks. A Lot of lounge chairs available. There is good shade and the pool temperature is very comfortable. The hours of operation provide lots of swimming opportunities. The fees are a bit high but for the summer months l think it's worth it. I feel safe there. Usually I see a police car keeping an eye on the parking lot. Nice Music is playing throughout the day. The pool is near a nice park that you can take nice walks in. It's also near a dog park. I have really been enjoying my Summer as a member of the heights pool. I would like to see the Ping Pong table fixed because I am a big fan of the game and would utilize the table for a good game of ping pong.

I don't plan to purchase a pass on principle that they are specifically extremely expensive to exclude lower income families. Alamo heights is a beautiful place to live and recreate but the elitism is a poison. There's no way that $700+ for 3 months of swimming is necessary for maintenance and staffing of a relatively small facility. Otherwise it's a nice, clean pool with a fun little playground and kiddie wading pool.

TLDR: You're not going to find a better swim school than Blacktip in San Antonio…read more Blacktip stands out in the community, not just as a swim school, but as a beacon of quality and personalized care. We enrolled our 12-year-old son, who was okay at swimming, but showed some nervousness and trepidation in the water. With summer just around the corner and plenty of water-based fun in the forecast, we wanted him to glide through the water effortlessly and confidently, just like a blacktip shark. After exploring various options, Blacktip was the clear choice, especially suited for his age group. Encouraged by glowing reviews, we booked a trial lesson, and we were paired up with with Nolan, who has the keen insight and nurturing approach of a skilled swim coach. In just 30 minutes, Nolan assessed, coached, and elevated my son's swimming skills, making the lesson fun and engaging. He adapted the challenges to perfectly suit my son's abilities, transforming his tentative strokes into confident swimming. I was positively surprised to see that transformation in such a short period of time. After the lesson, we met Albert, the engaging and involved big kahuna, owner, leader, and instructor from Blacktip. He discussed our goals, shared insights from Nolan's assessment, and made signing up for additional lessons as smooth as swimming with the current. He even discussed what our goals were with the program, which impressed me a lot. This personalized attention is a rare find, in any business, and reflects Blacktip's dedication to each swimmer's success. To be clear: you just won't get that from any other school. I spoke with 5 swim schools, all nice enough on the phone -- but none that were interested in diverging from cookie-cutter approaches, except Blacktip. My son left the school buzzing with excitement about his progress and eager for his next lesson, a testament to the positive and supportive environment Blacktip provides. It was clear that children of all ages were thriving here, each benefiting from tailored instruction that meets them right at their level of proficiency. The facility itself is clean, well-organized, purpose-built, and perfectly designed for swim instruction, making it an ideal environment for learning and growth. Whether you're introducing your child to swimming or looking to enhance their aquatic skills, Blacktip Swim School is a fantastic choice, helping swimmers become as confident and graceful in the water as the blacktip shark.

I would have no problem recommending this school to others, especially to beginners. The team goes above and beyond to make newcomers and/or beginners feel welcomed and comfortable. Love, love, love the Camp Active summer camp at Alamo Gymnastics! This is probably the most…read moreorganized and informative camp I've ever enrolled my kids in. My 9yo daughter went for 2 full weeks (8:00-4:00) and my 5yo son did 2 of their half-days (8:30-1:30). Both kids had a blast this summer! The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. My daughter takes gymnastics classes here, so this camp is just another great service that they offer. Rates are on par with other camps. Electronic devices are prohibited during this active camp, which I think is a great policy! Kids do not need to be plugged in everyday. I like how the kids are grouped by age and each week has a different theme (sports, space exploration, safari, etc.). They do a theme-related craft each day, which is cute. We get a kick out of them, even though some are geared toward a much younger age than my 9yo daughter - we just giggle at those and I tell her how cute she is. She rolls her eyes - it's a lot of fun. They get free play in the little gym from 8:00-8:45 before they break into their age groups. They take a couple of snack breaks (dry snacks provided) and a lunch (parent provides). They go back and forth between the big and little gyms throughout the day, and around pick-up time (4PM), they're usually watching a movie. Sign-in at drop-off and ID check and sign-out at pick-up. You can register week-by-week online. You can uncheck days during the week if you know you won't be sending them every day and only pay for the days they will attend. This worked great when we had a dental appointment scheduled during one of the days, so I only paid for 4 days that week. They have a flexible refund policy too. You can pay an extra $10/day if you need extended care from 4-6 PM. The coach will send you an email the week before camp to introduce themselves and provide camp-specific info. This is a great touch and really helpful for parents to stay informed of procedures and expectations. One tip for them: update your information form that parents fill out to remove the info about swimming, since it's no longer offered during the camp. Other than that, keep doing what you're doing!
