A girlfriend recommended coming here for some serious Mani/Pedis back in the fall of 2011. Bad idea. One of my cuticles had been nipped and bled. Ouch. I am prone to ingrowns...and although my technician was gentle in removing them, she cut the nails too short and they seemed to grow in worse. But this wasn't the most upsetting part of this experience... My girlfriend ended up with a fungal infection after frequenting this salon multiple times. She contacted the State Board, who came to the rescue but didn't find anything wrong with their sanitation practices. I was getting ready for a date and wanted to look perfect so I have my pedi done on the same day so its ultra clean and fresh. I judge nail salons on 4 points. Cleaness the scrub the leg message service This salon, with the exception of being clean, failed at all of them. She didn't scrub my feet nearly hard or long enough. I could barely feel the massage if you could even call it that. The service was piss poor. During the whole time she and her coworker jibbered to each other in their native language which always makes me feel uncomfortable as I believe they are making fun of me (they probably were). They sat me under the dryer that didn't work because after 10 minutes my polish was still wet. They didn't even offer a pair of the foam flippy flops, I wore closed toe heels and so by the time I got home The polish was smudged, I had to remove the polish and re-do it myself (which looked like crap) and scrub my feet properly. I was so dissappointed. And to top it off I still gave a $4 tip, stupid me! What a waste of $35. I could have gotten a decent bottle of wine for that! read more

Always relaxing and a great place for a mani pedi. The owner by far gives the best and hardest massages. I always feel like all the tension has been worked out. The other women do a great job too. Well worth $30 for both. The lady who reviewed before needs to step and ask for a harder massage and more of a scrub on her feet. If you don't ask, then you can't completely blame the nail salon. Everyone is different, so speak up if it's not what you are looking for in a pedicure. read more

My daughters bad experience back in January, 2020. People were very nice inside, but nasty outside, she said the nail job hurt twice like she'd never felt before for a nail job. Then, the nail person was insisting upon cash that made my daughter feel very uncomfortable. read more

Don't understand the negative reviews. I have been going to the lovely manicurists at Alamo Nails for many years. They are always polite, ask after my family and do a great job. The chairs are super comfy. My daughter and many of my friends frequent this establishment as well and I have given and received gift certificates from them. I love this place. I've read several reviews and I can't believe the ones that are negative. Just because they are speaking in another language does not mean they are speaking negatively about the people who don't understand their language. They are probably just talking about stuff everyone talks about at work. I'm sure they wait to talk about you until you leave just like an English-speaking salon. That being said. They reshape my acrylics and 3 of them broke the same day and they tried charging me again when they never told me if i got them thinner they would break and when I told them that they kept saying I had to pay I didn't paid got them fixed but won't be coming here anymore save your money it's not worth it! I have been coming here for years! After going to every nail salon in Alamo, I can confidently say this is the best one. They spend time to shape my nails properly, give a long and thorough massage, trim my cuticles perfectly, and are friendly to boot. Their pedicure chairs have little pop ups to rest your calves on while they scrub your feet too. I live in LA now but every time I'm home for the holidays I make an effort to come here. read more

I really wanted to like this place, I kept going back even though the Acrylic on my nails would fall off in chunks every time. Something i'd never experienced before. I was charged to renew the nails each time. Tony a technician there advised to go to only him and that he'd ensure I'd be happy with the work. They didn't fall apart then but each application was markedly different in color. My nails looked marbled, and had ridges between each application. I received a gift certificate for a full manicure/pedicure. I decided to go in but only had time for the pedicure. The woman made me flinch 3 times in pain which surprised me. When I was done she looked at my gift certificate and said I only had a $5 credit left after the pedi. (Reg. pedi, reg. polish) I couldn't believe she pulled that after the person paid for a full mani/pedi which was written clearly on the certificate and was not part of a promo of any kind. She preferred I paid in cash and save the certificate for another time. What?? I refused and left feeling very cheated and disappointed. I will not be going back. I was in a rush this evening looking for a place that could fit my walk-in shellac. The place across the street couldn't take me for another half hour so I almost gave up when I spotted Alamo Nails across the way. They immediately sat me down (I hear I was lucky as they were very busy earlier) and paired me with Toni. He was very kind and did an excellent job on my shellac. Biggest perk was the fantastic hand/arm massage I received! Ladies, I've been getting mani's/pedi's for 10+ years- NEVER have I experienced a massage like this. Will definitely be going back and look forward to a pedi treat. If you go, ask for Toni. You'll be in for a treat. read more

3.5 stars. I've been coming here for 10+ years. Quick service and they are usually really good pedicures. Nail service isn't as great. Have had my shellac manicure done here a few times and never been satisfied. Prices have gone up over the years, but I still frequent this place for their pedicures. Tip- bring your own polish. I've been here once so far and I like this place. They're small and the staff are very attentive to customers. It feels like a neighborhood-y place. The manicurists are proficient at their jobs and go out of their way to accommodate "special needs" such as mine (aka being very picky). I walked in for the first time on Thursday. I didn't mind the half hour wait, but when I asked for warmer water for my pedicure, I was scalded ! My feet are still red. I tried to leave an email for the owner but there is something wrong with their website. I would be happy if my mani/pedi looked good, but it was the worst experience in a salon ever! My gel manicure wasn't done with precision or care. Both manicure and pedicure needs to be redone. I'm hoping the owner will respond and try to improve this experience...if not, I will NEVER return. FYI...Van worked on the nice lady next to me and her experience was what I was hoping for! read more

Ladies, please read this before you use this nail salon, and please read Jessicka's review posted on 1/30/2012 regarding her girlfriend's experience to confirm my experience. Stopped in 2 weeks ago for a mani/pedi. I was escorted to the pedi spa chair and sat in between 2 older gentlemen in their 60's and 70's as well as a third chair with another older gentleman about the same age. All three of these men had severe fungal toe nail infections that were so disgusting I thought I would throw up. The ladies that worked on them wore masks and gloves, while my girl didn't wear any protective gear at all!! Instead of relaxing and enjoying my moment to myself, I was intensely watching their sanitation procedures. They sterilize their instruments in a blue liquid, which I certainly wonder how many times it's changed to remain 100% effective. They do not use an auto-clave as most salons use. I also observed that the employees use common tools on the fungal nail patrons without discarding them after use, such as electric sander heads, pedi stone, and hand held sanders. This is totally unacceptable. The fungas is very contagious and will live on these common instruments ready to invade the next client!!!!!! Please do not go Alamo Nails unless you already have a fungal nail disease, otherwise stay far, far away!!! read more

My daughter said, "20" and the nail lady pointed to my daughter's face and said "you still have acne." Are you kidding me?? Who says things like this? Alamo nails will never see another dime from me! Awful service. Told me to wait 10 mins wait for a manicure and a pedicure. FULL staff of at least 8 people. Waited for 25 mins for a pedicure which took forever. NO one is doing my nails, but they kept taking EVERYONE who's coming in for a manicure. They kept me waiting for nearly 1 hour,..just on a pedicure no, manicure. Wow so sorry to read all the negative reviews on here. That has not been my experience at all. I have been coming here for twelve years and have not had a bad manicure or pedicure at all. The chairs are comfortable, the manicurists are solicitous. They are conscientious about cleanliness. As for the leg massage, read these reviews. One lady said she could barely feel it, the other lady said they beat her up and it hurt. You have to communicate with your technician! tell her what kind of massage you want! if it's too hard tell her! if it's too light, tell her!! for the last four years, I have been getting gel manicures here and that has worked great, no complaints and lasts for a long time. This seems to be an Alamo tradition as I generally see all my girlfriends from Alamo in here. Try it, I hope you have the same experience I do. read more
