Julie runs a professional business. Not only is she an expert manicurist but she also cares for the health of your feet and nails. For instance, I have never been to a salon that identified toe nail fungus. Julie trimmed my nails so that I could easily treat the problem. In addition, she smoothed all the callouses on my feet and then explained that she disposes of the sanding element after each client. She is fastidious. She showed me the disinfectant, Barbicide, that she uses to clean her equipment. She spoke about how important it is that salon owners disinfect their equipment properly to avoid passing along germs from one client to another. While we were waiting for my polish to dry, I complimented her on her eyebrows (tattooed). I told her I might like to consider that. She looked at my brows and trimmed and shaped them and they've never looked better (she wouldn't accept pay). I was really pleased. Julie is just blocks from Rossmoor on Tice Creek Blvd. and I would highly recommend her to the Rossmoor crowd. You will not get a better pedicure (and manicure) anywhere. The place is very clean and she is extremely attentive to making sure your nails not only look beautiful but are also healthy. Well... I was able to make an appointment for my after work needs. It's very hard to find a location that not only can schedule me in or is open late when I get off work; they also may not provide what I like. Although, the place maybe moderately pricey for some; it is a heaven send for others. They have a lot of amenities one can appreciate. Like have a useable restroom. Even just have water available and comfortable sitting if you come in early and need to wait. It's cool inside for them warm days. They have nice chairs for doing or getting pedicures done. I like that the nail tech Julie will keep your nails hands and feet healthy. She will let you know if you need some products for extra treatment. Also; if you are concerned about payment asked her about the form before, so if you want to book or go somewhere else you have that option . After a stressful week with home remodeling, I was ready for a pedicure as a relax me gift to myself. I called in the morning and Julie was accommodating and took me that afternoon after work. When I entered her salon, it is very clean and new. Since Julie works as a one woman operation in the salon, appointment is a must. I also appreciated the individual attention without the usual noise from other workers/customers in a salon. The massage chairs were nice and new and felt good as I got my pedicure. I picked a pretty pink color and Julie did a good job with my pedicure. She even smoothed out a callus under the balls of my feet when she noticed it during the foot/leg massage. Since her next customer didn't come, she offered to give me a free flower design on my toes. I never had a flower design on my toes before and it was so cute! Julie was sweet and thorough and a pleasure to chat with. One little suggestion: I do wish she would have waited until after I got up to clean the tub because her soapy glove touched my heels a couple of times and it wasn't as relaxing as I wanted if the tub is being cleaned under me. This place is very close to my house, so I had to come and give it a try! Julie is very sweet and went out of her way to accommodate me the same day for a pedicure. This salon is clean, comfortable, and bright, and Julie did a great job on my nails. She's super friendly, but also was really nice about me wanting to sit and read my book instead of chatting a lot, which I really appreciated (as I'm completely engrossed at the moment and am reluctant to put my novel down). The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because I didn't know I had to bring cash or a check, so I ended up trudging uphill after my pedicure in my lotion-y (from my foot massage), slippery sandals to get money from the bank. I went to this nail salon while in Walnut Creek. Julie was friendly but the conversation was a little bit scary as she talked about a scammer she was keeping entertained on the phone at night. I asked for gel which is what I was used to but Julie said she had something better than gel. I agreed but had no idea what I was in for. It was some sort of acrylic glue. Two months later my nails have not yet recovered...they are weak, split and cracking. I hope with time they will regain their strength. At this point I am depending on nail hardener. I would never recommend this process as it has to be the worst thing ever to subject your nails to. They looked good enough when she did them but when I was back in Tucson and went to my regular nail salon, it took forever to remove Julie's handiwork. Before I even went to my regular salon, a pinky nail was hanging of and I lost half the nail. I would never recommend this method. read more

Julie is the absolute worst. Many of her clients are elderly women from Rossmoor, who she proceeds to talk trash about whenever they call or come into her shop. I have felt very uncomfortable at times due to the way she speaks about her clients. The way she does the gel manicures is unhygenic and is done by dipping your finger into a pot of powder that who knows how many people have used. She has also given herself 2 Yelp reviews on this page. The user Thuy T. is Julie. My mom and I have been going to Julie every 3 weeks for over a year. Looking back, I'm not sure why we kept going here. My mom would typically go first, then my appointment would follow. Yesterday, I was running a few minutes behind due to an accident and lane closures on the freeway. My mom went first and I called to let them know I would be late and asked if I should reschedule or just wait for next time. Julie said no as long as I was there by 10:45. I arrived at 10:40 but she tells me that I have to wait or reschedule my appointment as she didn't have any time for me. I asked her why she told me to come at 10:45 and she responded with, and I quote, "I told you that but I didn't think you'd actually come." At this point I was fed up and just wanted to get out of there and needed to go forward with my day, so I said I would be back in 3 weeks for my next appointment since I don't have much time this week. Julie then tells me she'd​ charging $18 extra because my nails would be too grown out. We argue about this for a bit and she reluctantly agrees that she won't charge me extra. I started to leave but then I heard her laughing and starting to talk about me to her client. On my way back in her shop, she proceeds to tell her client that I have not shown up in the past and have neglected to pay her before, which is the first I'm hearing about this. I couldn't believe she was outright telling lies and laughing about me. But she does it about everyone else, why should I be any different? I told her to cancel our appointments and I didn't appreciate her bashing me to her clients. This situation aside, Julie is a horrible person and has a lot to learn about how to treat people with respect and running a business. read more

Although we had an appointment, Julie took a man (who had been standing at the door waiting for her to open) ahead of us.... so we had to wait 20 minutes. Both my mom and I thought she was not gentle and rushed through our mani-pedi's. Her next customer came in as she was just starting my pedicure and Julie said, "I'll be with you in just a few minutes"! Really??? That was rude! Julie does an incredible job with my nails, I won't go anywhere else! I previously had thin and brittle nails but the "gel powder dip" technique that Julie uses is amazing. I have been to Julie three times, and having had my nails done for years on the Peninsula, I was a little disappointed. First time, I had a pedicure and that was just ok. No foot massage. The next two times were to have my nails done. The first time, she ran 15 minutes late. She did an ok job. My experience has been when doing gel nails the technician uses a powder and solution and applies with a brush. Julie put what looked like nail glue on to my nail and dipped my finger right into the container of powder and then tapped my finger to remove the excess. I didn't think that was very sanitary. The second time I had my nails done, my appt was at 8:45. she called the night before to say it was at 9:00. I showed up before 9:00 and STILL had to wait another 10-15 minutes BEFORE she even showed up at the shop. This time when she did my nails, she did the same filing, nail glue, nails dipped into the container the powder comes in. Crooked nails, thick. I got the feeling she wasn't interested in her job. She seems nice, but I don't think I am going to go back. Sorry. As I mentioned earlier, I have had my nails done for years and she seems to be cutting corners and she charges more for less service. read more

I was very specific when asking for the sns manicure and was told that was the product she used. Well maybe the powder was sns (and Im not sure it was) but the process was not correct. She used nail glue and then dipped my nail in the powder multiple times. I questioned her several times about this process as it was not what I had read and looked at on the internet but she was very adamant that this was "an even better way". She also did no maintenance on my cuticles or nails prior to the application process. The end result was thick and chunky looking nails that as they grew out looked even worse. not only that but I understand that using that much nail glue is terrible for your nails as it doesn't allow them to breath. Today I went somewhere else to have them removed and redone and sure enough they did not use nail glue to adhere the powder. they use a bottled (marked sns product) painted on product in-between each dip(also marked sns). the end result is a beautiful and natural looking nail. Julie literally lied to my face when I questioned her repeatedly during her application and did a lousy job to boot. I would never go back nor recommend her to anyone.... read more

I found Julie's Luxury Nails and Spa by stopping by as I was looking for a new nail place after my move to Walnut Creek. I had stopped at one other nail place but did not even get in the door, as the smell and talk put me off. I stopped by Julie's shop and it is CLEAN and no "nail" fragrance. Julie is very nice, speaks English and is a one women show. I so enjoyed my first appointment and my nails look great- STAY on for three weeks and people notice how nice they look. I like the Dip Gel style as my nails are thin and look like real nails. My nails do not feel heavy like they did before with the brush on acrylic powder. Love my nails, been loyal for a couple years now! I would not go anywhere else. I wait there for my turn. Sometimes one customer is late and Julie makes it up to me if running behind but that was only one time. Anyways it was worth the wait. I time it so I can relax, wait my turn. Other times I walk in and only wait a few minutes. This is a very efficient shop. Julie is worth it! Julie is fast & does quality work! Plus the nail polish is great quality! It doesn't smell in the shop because she is a one woman shop and uses great product. My nails last for three weeks. I go back and get them done no later than that because it is healthier to stay on top of them. I live in Berkeley and have driven to Walnut Creek for Julie to do my nails for nearly 17 years. Hands down, she gives the best manicures and pedicures I have ever had. Julie's gel manicures last and still look terrific when I return 3 weeks later for another manicure. Her pedicures, which she gives me every 6 weeks, are equally fantastic. She takes tremendous pride in her work and pleasing her customers is a number one priority. She is a perfectionist, and always pays attention to detail. I came to Julie at a time about three years ago, frustrated because my gel nails were always lifting in between appointments at a different salon. What a difference professionalism makes. She does such a thorough job on my nails, I consistently receive compliments. My nails always look wonderful for two weeks - occasionally three weeks - until my next appointment. I know I am in the right place and I am here to stay. One thing to keep in mind though, is that she is always running late, so your appointment probably won't take place at the exact time you scheduled it -time flexibility is mandatory if you want her to be your regular nails person. read more

I have been going to Julie for six months. I have had the best feeling and looking nails of my life. I work close by and see lots of the ladies and men getting there early for their services. I see a lot of older people with nail probelems and Julie fixes them also! They are so happy and relieved. You can see it her customers faces, they are so loyal & happy! I love the personal attention and one woman shop atmosphere. Julie is so efficient and doesnt waste time cutting cuticles. My nails have never looked or felt better! She dips my nails in the gel powder. ( I also have tips ) she never uses acrylic. The gel is much better as my nails can last up to three weeks! If you ask Julie for something, she is very accommodating. It is so nice having a very skilled and caring nail tender. Even if I don't have an appointment, she will give me the next cancellation and I am in and out in 20 minutes if needed. I never liked getting my nails done before Julie.
