AND it was already paid for (prepay). i have explained this to several hertz representatives, which agreed they had made a mistake. great! then i was charged again, on the card that was in case i didn't return with a full tank (which it was). this is a fraudulent charge. and guess how they explained the charge? they went back to the original story that i returned it in PA!! totally incompetent. called my cc and got a chargeback. lesson learned: don't use hertz.

Most vehicles wreak of marijuana smoke or some other odor--be prepared to go back to the counter repeatedly until you can get a car or SUV that doesn't smell like skunk weed. - There is no interior cleaning in virtually all of the vehicles; windshield glass looks like someone licked it or wiped it with a greasy cloth. Receipts, wrappers, crumbs, etc. in cup holders and under the seats. - Don't be surprised if the "Oil Change Required" warning comes on shortly after departing the Avis parking lot. - Two numbers are available for the Avis Desk but neither of them will get you in contact with an agent at that location (616) 949-1720 and (616) 233-6330. - If you make a long-term rental reservation, you'll likely get a contract limited to only 30 days, regardless of what you reserved online. #2thumbsdown

When we got our car it was filthy. Covered with bug solat on the windshield and front end. The interior winshield was so filmy we had to stop and clean it. The front passenger sear would not recline, uncomfortable upright position during the entire rental. I called customer service and here was no offer to replace the vehicle with another. The ratings for Dollar are abysmal, no small wonder given the quality of their service.

All I had to do to check in was click the link in the text which allowed me to avoid the line at the rental center. I went straight to the garage. I was greeted by a young man who gave me a couple options for my rental. I chose the Hyundai Kona. It was a great little car was awesome gas mileage. It was in good shape and pretty clean and fairly new. I received a text reminder about my car coming due in a day. I returned my car early and no one was there. But there was signage that said I to drop the key (with rental paperwork denoting mileage- paperwork I did not have?!?) so I hope it's all good. The rental center is right across from the airport. An easy walk. Very convenient. Update: received my itemized bill via email at 4:15am! This was not long after I dropped it off. Those guys are here early! The bill is as expected. Thanks!

I had wanted to go over car condition or questions. The vehicle rented was alright, but certainly wouldn't have been my first choice and certainly not a car I would opt to purchase since it was uncomfortable and seemed to be in need of some minor maintenance. Upon return I had Samir as the attendant for check in. Pleasant enough but certainly not a very agreeable young man. I can't recall what I had said but he gave me a response that was opposite of what I expressed. I realize the customer is NOT always right, but my personal experience of renting IS mine and I did not appreciate him implying I was wrong. I remained polite, finished unloading and proceeded to the airport.

Fraudulent Budget CC Charge…read more Landlord used my CC to reserve a car. The reservations were canceled by their reservation desk, but we were assured by 2 counter reps on several days prior to the rental date that they would honor the $1606.03 charged to my credit card. When we arrived to pick up the car, the male counter rep and city manager were clueless and couldn't find the information we had been told earlier was in their system. The person who had promised to be there at the time was a no show until much later. I was quite angry at their incompetence and the lack of communications between the counter and their reservation desk, so I berated both of the earlier mentioned two individuals. Even worse, after the employee who showed up late explained the situation to the manager--she still refused to honor our confirmed rental, or, refund my $1,606.03. Anyway, I then explained that fraud and theft by deception were not only major felonies, but highly unethical. Not surprising, they acted like my accusations were nothing new.

The agents at the desk were friendly and helpful. The process to board was seem less. The boarding passes were scanned in a rapid fire process. So much so the jetway backed and she had to slow her roll. We were greeted as we boarded the plane with early morning pleasantries and smiles. Our leg was a short segment from Grand Rapids to Chicago midway. As a result no inflight service was done.
