Most vehicles wreak of marijuana smoke or some other odor--be prepared to go back to the counter repeatedly until you can get a car or SUV that doesn't smell like skunk weed. - There is no interior cleaning in virtually all of the vehicles; windshield glass looks like someone licked it or wiped it with a greasy cloth. Receipts, wrappers, crumbs, etc. in cup holders and under the seats. - Don't be surprised if the "Oil Change Required" warning comes on shortly after departing the Avis parking lot. - Two numbers are available for the Avis Desk but neither of them will get you in contact with an agent at that location (616) 949-1720 and (616) 233-6330. - If you make a long-term rental reservation, you'll likely get a contract limited to only 30 days, regardless of what you reserved online. #2thumbsdown

All I had to do to check in was click the link in the text which allowed me to avoid the line at the rental center. I went straight to the garage. I was greeted by a young man who gave me a couple options for my rental. I chose the Hyundai Kona. It was a great little car was awesome gas mileage. It was in good shape and pretty clean and fairly new. I received a text reminder about my car coming due in a day. I returned my car early and no one was there. But there was signage that said I to drop the key (with rental paperwork denoting mileage- paperwork I did not have?!?) so I hope it's all good. The rental center is right across from the airport. An easy walk. Very convenient. Update: received my itemized bill via email at 4:15am! This was not long after I dropped it off. Those guys are here early! The bill is as expected. Thanks!

Fraudulent Budget CC Charge…read more Landlord used my CC to reserve a car. The reservations were canceled by their reservation desk, but we were assured by 2 counter reps on several days prior to the rental date that they would honor the $1606.03 charged to my credit card. When we arrived to pick up the car, the male counter rep and city manager were clueless and couldn't find the information we had been told earlier was in their system. The person who had promised to be there at the time was a no show until much later. I was quite angry at their incompetence and the lack of communications between the counter and their reservation desk, so I berated both of the earlier mentioned two individuals. Even worse, after the employee who showed up late explained the situation to the manager--she still refused to honor our confirmed rental, or, refund my $1,606.03. Anyway, I then explained that fraud and theft by deception were not only major felonies, but highly unethical. Not surprising, they acted like my accusations were nothing new.

The desk was closed when we arrived after being told, "We do not close until the last flight comes…read morein". I called 3 times, and they said Don't worry about it we will be there. Of course, when we get there, it's closed. Granted the flight was late apx 2 hrs but note that Hertz and Enterprise were there servicing customers from our flight. We had to get a hotel and Uber, and they are denying a reimbursement, stating that their employee was there. The crazy part of this is that our uber driver worked for them. He said they left 1/2 hour before our flight. The next day, they offered us an "upgrade" to a car but then tried to charge us - basically double the amount of the original rental. I had to spend another hour on the phone after realizing this on the invoice. The customer service rep told us to return the car (after driving over an hour). We kept the car and then when returning had to go through the whole thing again about not being charged. I'm dropping my account with them and advising our 200 employees at my company to do the same. Thanks for an awful experience.

The agents at the desk were friendly and helpful. The process to board was seem less. The boarding passes were scanned in a rapid fire process. So much so the jetway backed and she had to slow her roll. We were greeted as we boarded the plane with early morning pleasantries and smiles. Our leg was a short segment from Grand Rapids to Chicago midway. As a result no inflight service was done.

Pre-COVID review…read more Wow, it seems like some people have had really bad experiences with Allegiant. Fortunately I haven't had any awful experiences so far with this budget airline (knock on wood). I've used Allegiant for their nonstop flights to Orlando Sanford and Fort Myers. I personally really like nonstop flights so I try to find them whenever possible. Allegiant is definitely a budget airline where you have to pay for everything, including your seat, carry on, checked luggage, and food and beverages on board. There are no fancy entertainment systems on these planes. I don't really mind that as I typically sleep on flights anyway. I am willing to pay for convenience, and the nonstop flights that Allegiant provides is that convenience. I usually only travel with a carry on so that helps cut down on costs a bit (but you still have to pay for that). Be sure to bring snacks and a bottle for water, as they don't even offer a complimentary cup of water on these flights. A small bottle is $3. On one of the Allegiant flights, my boyfriend and I purchased a cheese and charcuterie package for $6 which was actually very delicious and a great snack for our quick flight. I have more trips coming up with Allegiant (edit: well, I did until COVID happened!) and I intend to book more flights with them in the future.
