I used this location specifically to drop off a rental car from another city. The airport signage clearly directs you to the rental return area, but note that once you enter the garage, the Alamo drop-off zone is located immediately on your left. A quick tip for others: do not rely on garage staff for directions if you are unsure, as an employee misdirected me to the end of the facility, forcing me to loop back around. They didn't have any mid-size cars so they gave me a "free upgrade" to a larger car. That worked for me but my wife wouldn't have been thrilled with a larger car if she had made the trip. We had a great experience with this Alamo Rent A Car at Jacksonville International Airport. When we arrived at the Alamo counter inside the airport on an ordinary Thursday around 2:45pm, there was no line. Crystal checked us in. She was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. The staff inside the parking deck was polite too. They kept things short and sweet so we could get on our way. Dropping the rental off at the airport was also quick. Par for the course in my experience at various airports and rental car companies/brands (e.g. Alamo, National) in recent years. We booked our rental through Costco Travel. Pick-up on Thursday 2:30pm and drop-off on Sunday 3:30pm. The 3-day "intermediate" car reservation ended up costing $164.63 after taxes and fees. This worked out to $54.88 per day. Not bad. Our final invoice included a 7% discount because we booked through Costco. For Alamo refueling options, at the time of our check-in, the prepay rate was $3.14 per gallon. If Alamo refilled, it was $5.00 per gallon. I filled up at the Marathon on Airport Rd, close to the airport on the way back, for $3.59 per gallon. In hindsight, in this instance, I could've saved a little bit of money if we chose the prepay option. $0.45 per gallon in savings * 3.602 gallons = a whopping $1.62 in savings. If you're headed back to the airport and chose to self-fill, there are several gas stations just off I-95 exit 363B. They include the aforementioned Marathon (https://www.yelp.com/biz/marathon-jacksonville-3) as well as BP, Exxon, and Amoco. It's hard to miss them, shortly after getting off the interstate. We had a 2023 Nissan Kicks. I never even heard of the Kicks model until we physically walked up to and inspected the car. It was a fun little SUV that suited our purposes -- mainly doing small trips in Ponte Vedra Beach. I ended up driving 106 miles, so 106 miles/3.602 gallons = 29.43 miles per gallon. I think that's pretty good for as much short-distance "city" driving as I did. The car was clean and comfy, provided a smooth and safe ride, and had great Bluetooth audio quality. I had my phone connected and playing music automatically every time I turned on the car (keyless ignition). We had recently experienced renting a car through Alamo at Oakland International Airport, also booked via Costco Travel, two months prior. Overall, we had a better experience with Alamo in Jacksonville than we did with Alamo in Oakland. I'm just comparing them here since the two bookings were both with Alamo and not too far apart datewise. read more

They hung up on me a couple times because they couldn't figure it out. They disguise it as a "hold" then click. They have escalated my case 4 times to NO AVAIL. I'm reaching out my attorney as we speak. I would never rent from them again NOR recommend them. THEY GIVING ME SO MANY NUMBERS AND EMAIL BUT YET NO ONE CAN RELEASE MY MONEY. The manager, Jarred, demonstrated a lack of communication skills and displayed disrespect towards my mother. Despite paying for a rental car that accommodated eight people, we were unfortunately given a seven-seater vehicle. When we inquired about the discrepancy on the night of our rental, the only employee available, Jarred, was upset about the late hour and informed us that he could not rectify the situation due to the establishment's closing time. The following day, we attempted to resolve the issue by finding the appropriate vehicle for our needs. However, my mother's attempts to contact the relevant personnel were unsuccessful, as she was unable to reach anyone. While my mother was attempting to swap the car, Jarred once again encountered her and expressed discomfort with the situation, claiming that he was being placed in a difficult position and that we should be grateful for the premium vehicle he had provided. While the premium vehicle may be desirable, our primary concern was the availability of sufficient seating for our family, including our infant. I understand that individuals may have preferences regarding their work hours, but the level of disrespect displayed towards my mother was unacceptable. I am deeply troubled by this incident and express my strong disapproval of the manager's behavior. Returning the car was a breeze! This was one of my favorite rentacar experiences ever! What made it truly nice was doing everything beforehand online so all I had to do is show them my code, she directed me to the line of cars in my range and I picked a Jeep suv which we put a ton of miles on going to Savannah to Knoxville to see my son who had been in the hospital and back down to Jacksonville. We had a great experience at the Jacksonville Airport. We arrived at almost 8pm even though the reservation was at 5pm. Cindi was very friendly helpful, quick and explained the different option to us with expertise. My return was also very quick the young lady was very efficient with the process. My family and I went to Florida to visit my son in the service and when we arrived at the Jacksonville airport to pick up our rental I asked the gal at the counter if we could be moved from a 7 passenger vehicle to an 8 passenger vehicle because we had a last minute added family member attend our vacation, and she told me that wasn't a problem however the fee would go up another $20 per day. I told her that was fine since we needed enough seats for everyone, we had a child and an infant and 6 adults. When we went out to pick up the vehicle it was closing time so we were rushed into a 7 passenger vehicle, I had my son stop and ask why we were put in that when we were charged for the 8 passenger and the manager, Jaren I believe his name tag said, that he gave us the nicest vehicle he had on his lot and that it was a premium. I told him I appreciate that however we needed the 8th seat, and he told me he was closing up and went on to say the keys were locked up and made it very clear he didn't want to help us anymore that night. The next morning I called several times trying to get the vehicle situation figured out and got nowhere so when we were able, we took time away from visiting my son in the service and drove 30 miles to swap out the vehicle. The same man was working and was extremely rude and upset that we were putting him in a "tight spot" as he stated!! I am extremely unhappy with the service and professionalism he lacked, as I felt no empathy and having my 10 year old grandson not in a seatbelt or even a seat for that matter, is HORRIBLE in the event that something happened!! Thank goodness nothing did and I also believe it's illegal to have children riding in a vehicle at that age with no seatbelt or seat to sit in. We did end up getting the vehicle switched out but the experience I encountered with such horrible customer service will forever impact my opinion of your company and I will never forget the experience I had. I also received my email with the bill and I was charged more than what I agreed to. More like 4.5 stars-- I had to wait about 20 minutes in line before getting to the counter, but once I did the reps were fast, efficient, non-pressuring, and nice! Everything was as I had booked (tip: Use costco travel and recheck often for lower prices to rebook!) and the car was one of the nicer ones I've rented! When I returned the car, the rep had me checked out within 2 minutes of pulling up. It took about 10 minutes to walk to the gate from the garage, but that's true of any of the companies. Overall: I was happy with this Alamo location! No surprises, good rental, and generally nice staff. I have rented from Alamo for years, they were my go-to car rental place even if they were a little more pricey than the others because I always had good cars and great service. Their counter at JAX used to have some of the best staff, however, my last car rental experience there a couple of weeks ago was horrible. First, the woman behind the counter spent fifteen minutes trying to upsell me on everything. I had been awake for a day and a half and I was way too tired to deal with that nonsense. And after I specifically told her TWICE that there was only ONE driver, I have now received a $175 charge for a second driver. I have never had this happen to me before at any Alamo branch and I am mortified. It saddens me to have to switch car rental companies after so many great rental experiences. From what I have seen for myself and read on Yelp, it appears that this office has been taken over by a new manager within the last six or seven months. Oh, and did I mention my gas tank wasn't completely filled when I picked it up? My advice is, if you are flying into JAX, find a different rental car company. read more

Follow signage, pull into garage, staff will look over the exterior and milage while you grab your stuff, and then follow the signage to get inside. Since I was getting picked up rather than flying out, getting out to a publicly accessible area was a bit confusing but I imagine this won't apply to most. There's some disconnect between the staff. We're not all super-alert when we travel. I made a booking using my name as its usually spelled and it was on my confirmation document spelled correctly - except when I came to return my car the V in my name had been replaced by a Z... When/where did that happen? Also charged me for for my tank not being completely filled up - hmmm... Bait and Switch. I booked a car from a 21yo woman at this location. I booked through Priceline and included her age, and was given a price of $119 for the two-day rental. When she showed up, they jacked up the price to $275. I spoke to the agent over the phone and she said they have an underage fee, and Priceline must not have included it. I told her that underage fees are never more than $25 per day. She was quite nasty and said Alamo has a different policy. I just looked it up on the Alamo site for this location and lo and behold, the underage fee is $25 per day. There were almost no cars available at the airport so Alamo decided to rip-off a customer by jacking up the right 150%. Fortunately, Hertz honored Alamo's rate. I will never rent from Alamo again. read more

When I got to the counter, there was a small line but an attendant from National (their sister company) was able to help. Check in was rather quick and I was on my way. Wow, the reviews don't lie. I can't remember a time returning a rental car was such a positive experience. Pulled up with my one-way rental from FLL and had a friendly agent ask me how everything was with my rental. I enjoyed my vehicle and told him so, and he asked if there was anything Alamo could have done better customer service-wise. Wow, that's a question that actually can produce some hate if I had a bad customer service experience. Thinking, I could only say, "The car could be free." The man's reply? For the purposes that I had of renting a safe, cheap and convenient vehicle this was easily a 5 Star experience. When I arrived at JAX I was upset because of a 3 hour delay I experienced flying from Boston. My prearranged reservation was pulled up quickly while I waited for luggage with the usual up sell pitch from the young lady at the counter. The process was so simple. Walked over to my car located not 5 minutes away and drove off. The car had a very strong bleach smell which lasted for the duration of my rental (about 8 days) The only reason for the 4/5 is really the strong cleaner/bleach smell and visible stains on the passenger seats front and back. Looked as though someone tried to scrub out spilled coffee. Returning was a BREEZE. 90 seconds to inspect and super friendly. Receipt and on my way. Price was unbeatable anywhere else. Overall, this location had very friendly and efficient staff. From the time I got to the counter, I was greeted by a friendly attendant who helped us get into a car within 5 min. She indicated they had no standard SUV in stock at the moment and that they could get one from offsite if we wanted to wait, or we could upgrade to a full size immediately at no cost. We gladly took the bigger car - who wouldn't? Return was also super efficient and we were on our way within a minute or 2 with a receipt and clear instruction on how to get to the check in counters in the airport. The car itself was fine, and we experienced no problems with it. It had a few stains on the carpet, but that didn't really bother us since the seats and dash etc were fine. There are 2 reasons I cannot give a full five stars. For starters, at no point does anyone look over the car's condition with you to ensure you do not get blamed for pre-existing damage. Normally, I am used to a booth attendant at the lot's exit where I can point out anything odd or out of place, and have it noted on the contract. I expected this here as well, but before I knew it, I had exited the property and the vehicle was not inspected. Please check your car BEFORE getting in so you have some recourse. Luckily there were no issues to notate and we were OK at return, but others may not be! Lastly, our car (Chevy Tahoe) indicated within 5 min of leaving the airport that the oil life was 0%. We were going straight to a wedding so we could not turn back. A few days later I noticed a sticker in the door jam saying the next preventative maintenance was due in July 2016, I had read this on January 1st 2017. Clearly the car was being neglected. While I can't blame this particular location for 6 months of neglect (who knows where the car was previously), they should have at least taken this car out of service to check the oil etc. The fact that they didn't shows they don't check these things regularly - or they do and don't care. Even with the above concerns, overall we were happy so I can still give 4 stars to the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. I rented from JAX Alamo on 24 July 19. Went through the skip the line process. The first attendant told us to pick a car fro three sedans. We walked around (no form) and went to check out. The lady at the booth did the paperwork, I paid and off we went. I returned the car 27 July 19 and pulled up to the attendant's direction, was told put the keys on the dash, he walked around check milage, gas, ect.. and stated no issues here is your receipt and off we went. Love that the counter was right across the baggage claim. The staff were so-so. The first car we got smelled strangely. After driving 5 hours we could no longer take the cigarette smell. We had to wait until noon the next day to do the exchange. That's when things go a little weird, we didn't get any apologies, the clerk didn't bother to ask if we wanted an upgrade, when we asked to up grade all he said was theres going to be an extra fee and was very bothered when we wanted to change the option of car he gave us. Then he switched us to another line claiming that his terminal was shutting down. We waited a long time on the second line to still get the car we wasn't too happy with. We went from a Nissan Altima to a Ford Focus. The car was smaller, the pick up wad terrible and horrible on gas. Upon arriving at the Jacksonville airport on Christmas morning after a red eye flight, we went to the Alamo Car Rental counter to retrieve our rental car which was reserved in advance. We were subjected to the usual, "would you like to upgrade your rental car to the next size up?" upsell routine as well as upsold on Alamo's "FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE." We asked about the "FULL COVERAGE" and were assured that it covered the car against any claim and should something happen to us, we would not need to rely on our own car insurance and there would be no deductible. Since it's always fractionally more dangerous to drive an unfamiliar car in an unfamiliar location, we agreed to purchase the daily "FULL COVERAGE" insurance we were offered. Three days later, a car ignored a stop sign and pulled out in front of our car as we drove 50 mph on a dark, rainy country road and we were involved in a very serious car accident with my husband, myself and our two children in the car. Stranded in the dark on a rainy country road, we called 911 and police and medical arrived to take care of us. We called and called Alamo's "roadside assistance" because we assumed they would need to take it away and be notified that it was involved in an accident. The "roadside assistance" line went to a dead end, and nobody ever picked up at the Jacksonville Airport branch location where we rented the car and since we needed to be treated and wanted to get out of the rain and off the road -- we allowed the police to arrange for the rental car which was obviously completely demolished to arrange for the car to be towed. Our family was then taken to the emergency room -- treated and released and thankfully nobody was killed or badly hurt. Not knowing what to do about the rental car which we had abandoned when we were transported to the hospital -- I spent more than 48 hours attempting to contact ANYONE at Alamo rental. Not one phone number worked. We ended up in voice mail dead ends, phones rang and never answered. Can you imagine? You're hurt, scared, in a strange place -- you have hurt, scared children - and you're CALLING A RENTAL CAR COMPANY endlessly from the ER trying to report an accident... but nobody ever picks up? I finally resorted to TWEETING at Alamo which led to one call back from Ted Wohlford the "manager" at the Alamo Jacksonville location. Yes, three days later, I was contacted by a smug manager because of my many disparaging TWEETS to Alamo trying to get a response. He acted like he was doing me a favor by getting back with me three days after the accident. I expressed my dismay to the manager that on top of enduring a terrible accident -- that it was completely unacceptable that we were unable to reach anyone at Alamo to tell them the car had been towed away. I asked about the "FULL COVERAGE" insurance we were sold and it was explained to me that it wasn't actually "FULL COVERAGE" but, in fact, only $3000 in COLLISION on the rental car. In what universe is "$30000 in collision only" "full coverage?" Ted the manager was very blasé and said, "I'm sorry you feel this way." I don't recall what my feelings (other than general disgust at being lied to) have anything to do with the fact that we were blatantly lied to by Alamo which I consider to be fraudulent business practices. The manager agreed to refund one day of the rental cost for the final day we would have had the car if it hadn't been totaled, and agreed to refund the cost of the misrepresented insurance. Not much of an apology, but we'll take the customer service crumbs at this point. Since then, our personal insurance company has requested a SIGNED copy of the insurance we purchased in order to process our claim for the medical bills. We have made over FIVE written, emailed requests for a copy of this insurance coverage. They will not respond to our emails/phone calls. The manager told me they "don't really have roadside insurance -- even though it is PLAINLY advertised on their website and there is a phone number to call. After about 10 minutes of trying to get any reaction or apology from the unhelpful manager, he offered to refund the cost of the day's rental and the insurance as promised -- which also still has not happened, and still no response as to whether this will ever be done. Across the board, I am speechless at Alamo's total disregard for life and property. It's one thing to offer "collision only" insurance, it's quite another to claim you're offering "full coverage" and that you have "roadside assistance" (they don't). To add insult to literal injury - to be incapable at a local or national level to be able to return a phone call or even ANSWER A PHONE during normal business hours, is quite another. It's hard to tell if this is an issue with Alamo's corporate policy or simply a problem with a branch, but apparently the only way you get through to them is to shame them on Twitter. We landed at JAX from DFW around 3:30am and were unable to get a rental car until 5:30am; forcing us to sleep in the airport until we could get a car. We decided on Alamo after seeing their prices were the best at the airport. We picked up our rental car shortly after 6:00am. We went through the paperwork process and the manager / desk agent failed to tell us that there was a walk around sheet that needed to be completed. We got out to the car and the manager told us that our vehicle was "good to go" and instructed us that the keys were on the dashboard. When we got in the vehicle we noticed it was extremely dirty, there were stains all over the seats and the charging port wouldn't work. We went to eat breakfast and lunch and went to the beach - those were our ONLY three stops the entire day and we had the vehicle in our sight at all times. We got back to JAX to return the vehicle at 5:00pm; the same day that we rented it. The agent came to check fuel, etc for the car and mentioned that there was a small crack on the front of the vehicle (that was already there when we rented the car) and told us that she needed to make a report of the "incident", even though the issue had occurred with a previous driver. The agent in the garage was somewhat rude and when we asked for the manager to come over she said it sounded like the employees that morning didn't do their job properly since we weren't told to inspect the vehicle. The ended up writing out a report of the issue for whatever reason and said they would be in contact. It's absolutely ridiculous that they are trying to pin previous damage on us when we had the car for a total of 10 hours. If you fly into JAX, don't use Alamo for your rental car!!!! read more

we booked our flight and car rental through Expedia, paying in full. the day of our flight - Delta had a flight delay and couldn't get us into Jacksonville, FL until the following day. I spent over 3 hours on the phone with Expedia and Alamo to reschedule our car rental from 6/8 to 6/9. Alamo kept requesting I cancel the rental and have me pay again for a re-book. I explained it was Delta's issue with the flight and to just change the pick-up date. Again Alamo stated there policy was to cancel, rebook and recharge. After 45 minutes of waiting for a car I asked the staff how long it would take and they had no idea. Their response was, "we are waiting for the cars to come in as they come in." We are 4th in line for a car after waiting this long. I understand that this is one of the busiest travel days of the year, but that is also a reason Alamo to be diligent and NOT overbook their guests.
