When traveling for work, I opted to get a rental vehicle to avoid costly uber rides. I had hoped for a Chevy Trax as looking to possibly purchase one, but received a like vehicle. Genuinely, I was impressed with this Mazda and was happy with my rental for just shy of two weeks. Airport signage is pretty clear, so it was easy to also return the vehicle. I have rented from HERTZ before, but this has got to be the funniest experience I've ever had receiving a Carr the very fun upbeat. Practical staff told me they were running out of cars, but we're so great about accommodating me as I was accidentally given a full minivan while I am a solo driver I did not need all that space and they were great to shift that reservation for that adaptive alone. I will rent from HERTZ at the Jacksonville airport again and again thank you for making my check out easy effortless and actually quite funny. I love what you do. You're great at it. First I was given a car with a broken seat that couldn't be adjusted leaving me unable to see over the steering wheel. I was told to get back in line at airport to get another car. Then it was difficult to find an equivalent car finally be given another only to have it tell if cigarette smoke. We had to drive with the windows open in 80° weather. It was awful. When I returned it and informed the gets employee I got grilled as to why I didn't tell them right away. Well after talking extra half hour to get another car I was tired of dealing with them. The worker kept pushing as to why I didn't let them know .. I just have up. Then I immediately turned around and said I left a charger in the car. The worker was writing on the windows looked in and said to me there was nothing in the car. I asked to go into the car and she refused saying it wasn't necessary. The charger is black and hard to see from the outside against the black interior but she kept refusing to let me in. My guess is she probably saw it and decided it was something she wanted? Have never rented from Hertz before and will not again. Not sure if this reflects the company overall or just this location. We reserved a vehicle and were asked at pickup if we wanted to add a spouse as an additional driver. At other companies (Budget, National, Alamo), this has always been free, so we said yes. We were then asked to sign electronically before being shown the total. When the total appeared, it was higher than expected due to a $15 additional driver fee. We immediately asked to remove it, but the agent said he needed manager approval. After waiting ~10 minutes, he returned saying it could not be removed. We then waited another 25 minutes to speak with the manager, who also refused. At that point, we declined the rental and went next door to National, where we rented at a similar rate with no additional driver fee. Despite not taking the car, Hertz charged us for one full day. We successfully disputed this with our credit card company. Weeks later, we began receiving bills from Hertz anyway. After an hour on hold, a representative assured us the balance would be cleared--but shortly after, the charge was sent to collections. I ultimately paid $78 just to stop the process. This experience--especially being billed and sent to collections for a rental we never used--was unacceptable. read more

Upon receiving the rental vehicle, we noticed the abundant of brown stains throughout the headliner of the vehicle. We returned to the counter to explain the condition of the vehicle. Mr. "Solutions" (his name tag and signature) assured me that we will not be charged for the cleanup but did not offer another vehicle. How ironic that he did not provide a solution. After leaving the garage, we noticed that the interior surfaces were all sticky. The steering wheel, stereo, and shifter were particular really sticky. The car exterior was also dirty. Open and closing the trunk left dirt all over our hands. The alignment of the vehicle also seemed off. The car seem to pull to the right. This can be dangerous for renters. We also reserved a Mazda 3 or "something similar " but received a base model Kia Forte. So instead of leather interior, decent sound system, and adequate headlights, we received a dirty cloth interior, subpar speakers, and dim yellow headlights. Yes, they may be the same size vehicles but the quality are miles apart. We were in town to attend a wedding. Having to commute with the dirty interior in our expensive suits was horrible. I will never rent from this Hertz ever again and I advise others to avoid it at all cost. read more

First and last time renting from Hertz. I downloaded the app, signed up for GOLD membership, and checked in on-line so I could, "Skip The Line". This was not to be. The lady working the Gold Line said I had to wait in the other, rather long regular line (with only one agent working) because I didn't add my Gold Number to the reservation. Instead, I walked over to Sixt and got a vehicle right away. I'm wondering if all she had to do was just walk over and grab my keys. Poor staffing, downgrade, lies, scams, refusal to take responsibility. They staffed one person to handle 12 reservations. Which wouldn't be so bad but the clerk wastes twenty minutes a person asking the scam questions "do you want to prepay for gas?" Ask him what's the smallest unit he'll sell you. It's a full tank. He says "bring it back empty!" How can you drive a car with no fuel in it? Ok almost empty. Which means you need to calculate running out of gas at precisely the moment of arriving back or overpay for gas. "What kind of insurance do you want to buy?" Implying that insurance is mandatory. It's not. And your credit car covers the deductible if you damage the rental car. Which they know. We got downgraded to an electric car. The clerk lied and said it was al he had left before directing us down a line of 40 cars. When we tried to charge up before returning, the nearest charge locations were not functional. To which the clerk replied "you should report that to the airport" meaning "not my problem." If It's not your problem it's my problem (I'm supposed to bring this smelly piece of crap back fully charged). I'm not here for more problems. Especially one I didn't sign up for. Hertz, This is Unacceptable! I just had one of the worst rental experiences with Hertz. I booked the rental, but my husband was the driver--yet I was slapped with a $15 additional driver fee simply because he wasn't the one who made the reservation. We are legally married, live in the same household, and only ONE of us was driving! They put a $200 deposit plus we have car insurance so it didn't make sense to charge extra. I have rented from Enterprise, Thrifty, and Budget before and NEVER had to deal with this nonsense. Why is Hertz nickel-and-diming customers? To make matters worse, the person handling my rental was beyond unprofessional. No smile, no courtesy, just sarcasm, eye-rolling, and a terrible attitude. It was as if I was inconveniencing her just by existing. Hertz, train your staff! Basic customer service should not be too much to ask. The only redeeming factors? On the 27th of October 2025 while traveling from crystal river Florida the car we had rented on the 3rd of October from Dulles international airport started surging and all electrical systems would go out and then come back on while driving. Roadside assistance was great in organising an exchange. However after having to divert to JAX from our original route for the exchange with instructions to go to hertz rental counter . Upon arrival at the hertz counter a car was exchange car was allocated to us immediately, this was great and we thought no problem we are back on the road. Once we located the allocated car we found a car that was inappropriate for our luggage needs and was considerably smaller than the original rental. The then went back to the hertz counter and this is were the unsatisfactory costumer service started, was told this is what you are getting and were told flat out the car trouble that we had experienced was not there problem and refused to provide us with an appropriate sized rental car. I then call thrifty costumer service and was told that thrifty would do a one time good faith upgrade if I was to pay for the upgrade which would be reimbursed upon returning rental car. I then handed the phone to the hertz counter customer service manager how completely ignored the representative who was on the phone. She then told me that she guaranteed I would not be reimbursed and my only option was to pay another $880 for an upgrade covering the same rental period of original rental agreement. I found this to be completely unacceptable and a form of extortion as we were now stranded at JAX without an appropriate rental car. After receiving a complete refusal to help with the situation, they continued to only offer a Nissan Altima for our troubles. After 3 hours of utter frustration and neglect we decided we woul make do with the Nissan Altima. This then put us 3 hrs behind on our holiday travel plans which could have completely avoided. I put it back to you thrifty car rental to compensate me for the utter disrespect and lack of professionalism towards a rental customer. read more

Had the worst experience at this Hertz location. We received a vehicle with mechanical problems, and the African American lady helping us was rude and VERY unprofessional. Charged us $160 for a tire. Even though the tires were fine. The problem with the vehicle was the front axle, and when we tried to explain it to her, she just kept smiling and ignoring our explanations. They should get rid of that lady for lack of communication skills, and professionalism. I wouldn't hire that lady to take care of my dog. To be fair, the gentleman behind the counter was very nice. Everything else about the experience sucked though. The guy in front of me was arguing with counter agent because he had reserved a Mercedes and they gave him a jeep, which I would have been mad about too. When I got in the car, it had 3/4 tank of gas. I made note of that and took a picture. When I returned the car at MORE than 7/8 tank of gas, i left a note telling them that I returned the car with more gas, and 20 minutes later I received the receipt where they charged me for four gallons of gas. When I complained, they demanded the receipt of me filling up the car, which I have, but it's the simple fact that they will do everything they can to overcharge you. I rent with hertz on a weekly basis, and it's always an excruciating process. If you have the choice, rent elsewhere. read more

Got to facility where tow truck was told to bring disabled vehicle to and no one there to take car or give me new car. This location, Road Side Asst, Jax Location and Hertz in general are terrible. Had to stay in hotel one night and came back to facility next day and 3 hours still no car to replace then I get the $600 charge while I am still there and I argue with Manager and he said basically "whatever". We are gold members. Flew into JAX for a conference and arrived at 9p. My husband and I decided to divide and conquer, and split up and one of us pick up the keys to the rental and the other grab the bags from baggage claim. My husband gets in the Dollar line and was told there were no cars and had to wait 2 hours to see IF there would be a car available. This is with our reservation and being members. We grab our bags and walk back to the desk and are then told come back tomorrow! We then went over to Hertz as they are a partner of Dollar and the agent tells me we don't have cars, but they had a sign saying that they did. I rented a car from hertz and the engine light came on I was instructed from roadside assistance to go to the nearest hertz which was provided to me, since it wasn't an international airport, I have to pay for another rental car and was told to contact hertz and I should get refunded, yet I haven't got refunded. I have explained to them that not only did I not rent this car, but the name on the credit card does not match my name. The billing guy that I spoke to tonight told me that if I would just pay the original rental fee of $61 nad some change he could element the rest of the bill. There is no way that will even pay an penny for a car I did not rent. He mention the interestnpilling up with all the delays. Delays? Inhave been calling for months and every billing person says they are to dispute the charges for me and request that my charges be investigated and I will get a follow up call in 5-7 business days. Don't let them scam you! They will take advantage of you. I paid the equivalent of $560 for my rental via points and knew that when I'd pick up my car, I'd be charged a one-way fee of $119. The sales rep at the counter made me believe I needed certain services, even though I kept saying, "I was told I would only pay $119, I don't want anything extra, don't give me anything extra". He even told me I needed insurance - your insurance coverage switches to your rental car. I ended up getting charged an additional $600 and told the sales rep, "What did I pay the $560 for when I booked the car? I have got to be paying twice.", and he made up some lie and tried to break it down. The math was not adding up! I called my parents and asked if it was common for rental cars to be this expensive, I was so confused. They told me to go back and cancel anything that I just paid for. I was able to turn around and cancel whatever extra policies the sales rep told me that I needed. I believe you need to cancel within 15 minutes. The sales rep knew he was caught because once he saw me return, he let me cut the line and only charged me the $119 fee that I kept mentioning. Don't let this happen to you! read more

It pays to be a Platinum member at Hertz! We arrived at the counter inside the Jacksonville Airport and skipped a line at least 10 people deep. That alone makes membership worth it. We were greeted with bottles of water and our keys in hand. The Hertz rep (kicking myself for not catching his name) assisted us with grabbing our luggage and escorting us to our car waiting curbside. It doesn't get any smoother than that when it comes to rental cars. Also, we routinely enjoy complimentary upgrades on our rentals. It's never expected, but we are thrilled when it happens. It didn't happen for us this time, but we had already reserved a seven-passenger SUV. It was super clean with less than 3K miles. The only thing I don't like is the extra charge for satellite radio.
