They had to know this review coming... and no one from management reached out to apologize for this experience. I had the unfortunate experience of encountering this EVIL woman. I prepaid for a rental car in the amount of $403.86. I was happy to see that someone was working at the counter when I arrived. I walked up to the counter and gave her my reservation number. She asked me if I had a flight information proving I was returning the car the day that I was leaving as well as a major credit card. I told her I did not and she said she COULD help me, but she WOULD not. She told me all the other rental car companies have a policy that you cannot rent a car unless you have a flight going out that day. Also, you have to have a major credit card (I don't. My mortgage is paid off and I have money in the bank, I don't use credit). After she refused to help me, I went back and forth with her requesting the name of a manager which she refused to give me for about 10 mins. In tears, I gave up and went to another rental car counter, feeling completely deflated. The other rental company gladly helped me and I was on my way within 10 mins. After this, I walked up to the counter at Budget/Dollar rental car and said to the woman "That worked out and you're a piece of $#!T." because of what she put me through. She responded by calling me a "White Trash B****." Not only did I have to spend an extra couple hundred dollars using another rental company last minute, I literally had the worst experience of my life. I will make sure I share this experience every chance I get

The car I was given had battery issues while I was out of state. I was able to jump the battery and the car ran for 30 minutes. When I shut the car off it would not start. When I had the battery tested I was told the battery did not have enough cranking amps for cold weather, 2019 jeep Cherokee. (29 degrees Tennessee) I called roadside assistance for guidance and the rep told me that if replacing the battery fixed the problem I would be reimbursed once I returned the vehicle. I wrote down his name and case number. I paid $190 for a new battery and had it switched out with the bad one. Upon returning the vehicle I was told that I would only be reimbursed the $70 upgrade fee instead of $190 battery cost since I booked through Rentalcars.com. General manager said nothing could be done along with on-site manager. I called and put a complaint and was given a $50 voucher with Dollar rental car instead of the money I paid for the battery being returned to me. The lady who received the car back tried to be helpful but really got no support from senior leadership of Dollar. I was told there was no note of the battery issue on my rental from when I called but nobody looked up the case number.

Yuck. Flakes in the passenger door. My pics are time stamped to show we did not make this mess.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car - Corporate Needs to See This I am…read morebeyond disappointed with how Enterprise handled an elderly customer today. This needs the attention of Enterprise Corporate immediately. My 68-year-old friend is moving from Florida to Pennsylvania. He has a valid Florida driver's license and a confirmed return flight to Jacksonville for a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Before booking, we called Enterprise directly to confirm their debit card policy. We were clearly told that as long as he had a valid driver's license OR a return ticket, he could rent using a debit card. He shows up at the counter prepared -- and the counter agent, Whitney, tells him no. She says because he now has a "local driver's license," he must have a credit card. That is NOT what we were told over the phone. Not even close. He DOES have a credit card -- the chip isn't working. We politely asked if she could swipe it. She said no. We asked if she could manually enter it. She said no. No attempt to help. No attempt to problem-solve. No compassion. Just policy, policy, policy. When I tried to explain what we were told by Enterprise on the phone, Whitney cut me off and said, "Can I talk now?" The tone was rude and dismissive. I said I wasn't finished speaking. She then said, "I don't know what the lady told you but that's our policy," and abruptly said goodbye. When I told her she didn't have to be rude, she said "Sorry, goodbye," and handed him back the phone. That was it. Now a 68-year-old man doesn't have transportation to get from Jacksonville to Saint Augustine for a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Enterprise advertises customer service. Enterprise advertises flexibility. Enterprise advertises caring about people. That was not the experience today. If your debit card policy depends on what mood the counter agent is in, that's a serious problem. If your corporate policy is different from what your phone representatives are telling customers, that's an even bigger problem. This isn't about a rental car. It's about basic customer service and respect -- especially toward elderly customers who are simply trying to make a medical appointment. Enterprise Corporate, you need to review: * Your debit card policy * Your training on handling elderly customers * And the professionalism of your staff, specifically Whitney This experience was frustrating, unnecessary, and unacceptable. Do better. Left my friend stranded 2/26/26

We had a great experience with this Alamo Rent A Car at Jacksonville International Airport. When we…read morearrived at the Alamo counter inside the airport on an ordinary Thursday around 2:45pm, there was no line. Crystal checked us in. She was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. The staff inside the parking deck was polite too. They kept things short and sweet so we could get on our way. Dropping the rental off at the airport was also quick. Par for the course in my experience at various airports and rental car companies/brands (e.g. Alamo, National) in recent years. We booked our rental through Costco Travel. Pick-up on Thursday 2:30pm and drop-off on Sunday 3:30pm. The 3-day "intermediate" car reservation ended up costing $164.63 after taxes and fees. This worked out to $54.88 per day. Not bad. Our final invoice included a 7% discount because we booked through Costco. For Alamo refueling options, at the time of our check-in, the prepay rate was $3.14 per gallon. If Alamo refilled, it was $5.00 per gallon. I filled up at the Marathon on Airport Rd, close to the airport on the way back, for $3.59 per gallon. In hindsight, in this instance, I could've saved a little bit of money if we chose the prepay option. $0.45 per gallon in savings * 3.602 gallons = a whopping $1.62 in savings. If you're headed back to the airport and chose to self-fill, there are several gas stations just off I-95 exit 363B. They include the aforementioned Marathon (https://www.yelp.com/biz/marathon-jacksonville-3) as well as BP, Exxon, and Amoco. It's hard to miss them, shortly after getting off the interstate. We had a 2023 Nissan Kicks. I never even heard of the Kicks model until we physically walked up to and inspected the car. It was a fun little SUV that suited our purposes -- mainly doing small trips in Ponte Vedra Beach. I ended up driving 106 miles, so 106 miles/3.602 gallons = 29.43 miles per gallon. I think that's pretty good for as much short-distance "city" driving as I did. The car was clean and comfy, provided a smooth and safe ride, and had great Bluetooth audio quality. I had my phone connected and playing music automatically every time I turned on the car (keyless ignition). We had recently experienced renting a car through Alamo at Oakland International Airport, also booked via Costco Travel, two months prior. Overall, we had a better experience with Alamo in Jacksonville than we did with Alamo in Oakland. I'm just comparing them here since the two bookings were both with Alamo and not too far apart datewise.

They hung up on me a couple times because they couldn't figure it out. They disguise it as a "hold" then click. They have escalated my case 4 times to NO AVAIL. I'm reaching out my attorney as we speak. I would never rent from them again NOR recommend them. THEY GIVING ME SO MANY NUMBERS AND EMAIL BUT YET NO ONE CAN RELEASE MY MONEY. It shows on my account and alamo rental cars -400 pending with a date and time of 02/27 at 5:58pm. I'll be writing a letter to their corporate office. I'm sure they know who I am by now.

They did annoyingly scam me by charging me for 1/4 tank of fuel even though the needle was barely below full and at most needed a gallon and probably less. I don't usually rent from them but if did so this time since they were the cheapest option. The fuel charge scam is annoying but I'll rent from here again if the price is right.

I had a work trip to Jacksonville & arrived at the airport to pick up my rental. Since I made the reservation within 24 hours of arrival, I was informed that I needed to physically go inside the airport to sign the contract. Thankfully, the line was short and I was able to head back outside pretty quickly to retrieve my vehicle. I located my rental, a Dodge Durango, loaded up my belongings, and got inside ready to head out. Unfortunately, the main screen was completely black and wouldn't turn on. I tried troubleshooting it myself, but nothing worked. I walked back to the counter and was assisted by Lachele. I explained the situation, and she mentioned the Durango was brand new and had just come in, so there shouldn't have been any issues. She came out and tried everything I had already attempted, but the screen still wouldn't power on. She then remembered that sometimes new vehicles can be in "ship mode." We quickly looked it up, followed the instructions, and thankfully the screen came on. I really want to give a shoutout to Lachele for her patience, professionalism, and willingness to step in and figure it out instead of brushing it off. She stayed calm, worked through the issue with me, and made sure I was taken care of before sending me on my way. Great customer service goes a long way, and she definitely delivered!
