I honestly would have given this Alamo 5 stars because everything was absolutely great. I reserved my renting thru my vacation club app because I travel often. So everything was great I walk in. My reservations was ready and when I got it handle my business easily returned it with no issue. The only issue I had was the agent who handle my reservations when I picked up my rental. Very Racist and unprofessional. I am a 21 year retired Marines Corp disabled veteran. And this agent treated me like I was some ghetto hood N.word. I can't say I never felt so disrespected in my life. But this was up there. Maybe it's just the Myrtle Beach airport. But I've never experienced this from a Alamo Rent A Car before in the world. I switched to Alamo at the last minute for a better price, and I'm glad that I did. After grabbing our luggage, we headed for the car rental kiosk. We waited about 15 minutes in line as there were several flights that landed around the same time. Once we were up at the desk, securing our rental was quick and painless. Finding our car was even easier. We got an Intermediate SUV (Nissan Rogue). It was clean. Rode smoothly. Getting out of the lot and returning to the lot were both quick and easy. read more

Booked a car online, received the confirmation, drove 45 mins to pick up said car to be told they were sold out along with every other car rental place at the airport! Thank you Alamo for wasting an hour and a half of my time and gas to get there and back. If you'd like to send me a check for my time and gas that would be great but I know you won't. On October 8, I rented what I thought was going to be an SUV online, and when I picked it up at the airport in Portland Maine, they gave me a Hyundai Venue... A teeny hatchback that no one would ever classify as a SUV in their right mind. And then today, I get a bill in the mail for a toll charge, which was legitimate, $3.50... But they charge me a five-dollar service fee on top of that, the fee is more than the toll?? Ridiculous all over. Come on Alamo, you can do better. read more

I ubered 40 minutes to the center to pick up the car and was told that they have no cars left and that they couldn't help me at all. They also said they require 24 hours advance notice to book a car, yet they let me choose a time tonight within a four hour window to come for pickup knowing they had no cars available. Alamo online reservation are not reliable arrived at Myrtle Beach Airport on November 24 to pick up my vehicle which I reserved and confirmed online. However when I arrived to pick up rental I was told "No vehicle available" I was informed that Corporate reservations does not verify whether there are actual availability of rental cars so reservations are bogus!! Of course it disappointing to find no vehicles were available.. I filed a complaint with Customer Support but no response from them to provide for an alternate solution to my problem. read more

Drove up from FL and the "maintenance required" light came on. They knew I was returning the car to Myrtle Beach so I was shocked that it was due for an oil change. When I told the Alamo upon return, they gave me a huge discount!!! The staff here is incredibly understanding and nice. Highly recommend Alamo. I always get a good deal and in terms of picking a car up in one state and returning it to another, Alamo saved me the cost of another plane ticket and made the process super easy. read more

Overall a disappointing experience. While picking up and dropping off the car was a smooth experience, the car I picked up, a Hyundai Santa Fe, was not cleaned well particularly on the inside where food crumbs were evident and some surfaces not wiped clean. During a pandemic I was expecting a completely cleaned vehicle. My hands were tied as this was the only standard SUV available upon my arrival so I did not complain and I had a tee time I needed to attend to. Another disappointment was the fact the gentleman at the desk was not willing to work with me on the return time of my vehicle. When I asked for leniency for returning the vehicle later due to flight time changes, was told I would be charged if unreturned my vehicle 15 mins late. read more

First let me start by saying the counter rep was awesome, so this has nothing to do with him. Unfortunately the car was not. Got in the "luxury" car and smelled something. Thought it was from somewhere outside. Drove away well into the trip and realized the odor was actually coming from the car. Drove around for two days with this mess. Charged a smoking fee for a car we never smoked in. Charge added after return. Manager wont return my calls. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life. Notified attendant when picking up the car that it smelled smoky. We were told the Covid protocol cleaner caused the odor. When we returned car we were told everything looked good. Reserved a car. When I arrived the counter to pick it up, the man at the counter requested (pushed) me to buy an insurance, which he said is a must. But I asked him that it is not mentioned when I made the reservation. Under my requests, he asked another worker. Finally, it is confirmed that the insurance is just an optional. Next, the car he reserved for me is very smoky. I requested to change a car. However, the man asked me that I had to pay an upgrade fee if I want to get a different car. I mean, this is not my fault. And Alamo did not prepare a car for the customer well. Why should I pay for your mistake? Just because that I did not want to ruin my vacation, I decided to compromise. When I arrived at the Myrtle Beach airport to pick up the car I had rented through Priceline (a convertible), the staff went out of their way to make my experience the very best it could be, since we were in town for a funeral. Thank you to both of the Alamo men (and their manager) who went above and beyond the poor experience that I could have had, simply because of Priceline's lack of disclosure (apparently a common practice to get you buy through them). Because of the extra effort and going the extra mile, you have made a customer for life. It's truly nice to be treated like a person and not a number. Highly recommend. read more

The only reason I give this place one star is because I had to. I have never in all of my years had a worse customer service experience. We rented a mini van online to take our family to Disney World. When we arrived to pick it up my husband presented his drivers license to Eddie, an absolute horrible person. My husband is a Canadian citizen and has to have his license renewed every 5 years. Eddie told my husband that this was not a valid drivers license and he would not be renting him a van that day. Husband said, "this is bullsh&$!" Eddie said that he had cursed at him and would surely not rent him a car, then he called the airport police on him. I came in to find my husband on the phone with Alamo corporate to see if there was something that they could do. In the meantime I went to the desk to speak with Eddie to see if there was anything we could do. He refused to speak with me and got the manager. He was no help either and they were both incredibly rude to me. He said that there was nothing they could do and that because of what my husband said they would never rent us a car. He asked if I wanted corporates number to file a complaint and I said, "No, I don't want a damn thing to do with that company ever again!" Guess what, Eddie called the airport police on me then for cursing at him. At this point I think I must be going crazy and I'm crying to the police who were as nice as they could be but said their hands were tied. Long story short, corporate informed us that their company had no minivans in Myrtle Beach. The reason Eddie and his manager were being so cruel to us is because they had no car to rent to us. Instead of just telling us that and giving us the opportunity to rent something else, they chose to treat us terribly and embarrass us in front of everyone there! The check-in process was easy and fast, the only thing that was amiss was that I was supposed to get a Tahoe, they only had a Durango which is smaller then a Tahoe, I had to upgrade for an extra 100.00 dollars for a larger vehicle. The upgrade was nice however unnecessary for 5 people. This is the first time I have dealt with Alamo, I don't know if I will use them next trip to Myrtle Beach. Was diverted to Myrtle Beach and needed a rental car to finish my trip back to Charleston. Called them in advance and reserved a car. When I got to the airport they told me they were sold out. I looked behind the front desk and there was at least a dozen keys on their wall. When I asked about those the front desk guy responded that because I only reserved it that day they were not going to honor it in favor of people who had reserved it prior to that day. This put me in a real bind and I had to wind up taking an Uber back to Charleston. Don't trust these guys. read more

I Rented a car months ago online for Oct 13, 2016. Upon arrival they told me due to hurricane over a week ago they had no cars available at all. The told me to take a taxi and come back tomorrow!!! The desk clerk (Hugh) sent me away for a moment and gave another customer a car right in front of my face, I then demanded my car that I had reserved online. The customer service was simply awful, and they expected me and all of the other customers to go on with our vacation with no car. No apologies, no assistance. They were trying to get 200 plus dollars per day and telling the reservations that they did not have cars for them. This was the worst vacation experience of my life and I wasted half of my day dealing with ALAMO Myrtle Beach. read more

The car was filthy and had a huge hole in the seat. The steering wheel was dirty. The attendant git me a clean car and quickly had me on my way... It wasnt clean but it didnt have a hole in any seats. Really need to take pride in the product! read more

I reserved my car through Allegiant Airlines as a package deal. The price was $210 for an Economy Car, for seven days. Upon arrival in Myrtle Beach, after a short wait in line, I was given a free upgrade to a Ford Festiva. I was charged approximately $80 for taxes as they were not included in the original package price. Note, my confirmation document stated I would be charged the taxes upon return of the rental car. Not a big deal, I was glad to get it out of the way. No problems with the car, it suited our needs perfectly. It had nearly a half of tank of gas at the end of our trip, (we drove all over the place) so it only cost me $8.50 to fill it up before I returned it. All in all, a great experience. read more

I understand there isn't a way to clean the outside of your cars and keep them clean at MYR. But the Inside of car was dirty (dusty), smelled like smoke, and had a little trash from the user before. Great car, just not clean. Then upon drop off at the vehicles, one of the employees started helping the customer right next to me and the other employee just sat there. I figured he was in charge of another rash so I waited at my car, another customer pulls up and he starts helping them. I waited until both employees were done, then went back to their booth and sat there talking until I walked up and asked if they're going to help me. I was one of three cars to pull up within 20 minutes. Not a lot going on and my car is running directly next to them. read more

And just checked my bill and for some reason is less than anticipated. Perhaps my return time was earlier. I would seek them out first for competitive pricing.
