I'm a sucker for a spooky tourist spot so I was really excited to find out about Sisters Grimm…read morewhile planning my first trip to Texas. The shop itself was wonderfully decorated and had a wide variety of books and souvenirs. I went to the shop a few times during the week we were there. All of the customer service staff at the shop were amazing, one of which went digging through boxes in the back for 5 minutes so they could find my size in a shirt I really wanted. Since my partner and I were there to celebrate my birthday, we decided to splurge for the bus tour so I could see the local cemeteries. Our tour guide was Lady Lex who had big theatre kid energy in the best way. She was incredibly engaging and patient with everyone who wanted to take a lot of photos. Our bus driver Robert was great as well. I was truly appreciative of Lady Alex's statement at the cemetery that while the stories are intriguing, ultimately they are about real people who lost their lives and we should respect the tragedy of that. While I love a good ghost/true crime story, I think it's important to humanize the subjects of those stories. Overall I had a fantastic time and was really thrilled to see the beautiful architecture of the Menger Hotel and local cemetery. I would definitely recommend the shop and the tour.

We found some amazing perfume, a Journal, a spooky puzzle, and a couple books. The store has a sitting parlor which is so lovely and spooky. I was hoping for a few more Oddities. They had some beautiful pinned insects but was hoping for more GRIMM oddities. They also give Ghost Tours, which we didn't have a chance to attend.

They do not hold any accountability and you will have to be the one to reach out and ask for updates. We hired them to transport our wedding guests from downtown Austin to our venue on April 11. My husband had let them know multiple times before that the guests needed to be picked up at 5pm. The bus didn't show up until 5:25 PM. Our 40 guests were stuck waiting outside in bad weather with little communication from the company. My wedding guest who was the point of contact had to call the driver four separate times just to find out where he was, and there was no proactive communication from the company. Extremely unprofessional and it was a bad start for our wedding guests. The 25 minute delay pushed our wedding ceremony start time back and cascaded through our entire event, costing us additional money in vendor overages. I reached out to the company to resolve this. It has now been over a week, I've called twice, and I have received zero response or accountability. The silence and the lack of apology speaks for itself. I am extremely frustrated because I have been professional the entire time, yet they have not been. If you are planning a wedding or any time-sensitive event, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. A vendor that can't communicate during a crisis and won't take responsibility afterward is not one you can trust on your most important day

Stuff happens. There are many Roadrunner Buses. Well, when we got onto our second bus, I put my backpack on the shelf and someone's lunch from 3 months, 6, a year ago, God knows when spilled on me. Into the bus ride, I found wrappers, dirty, rusty metal, and a piece of cloth. Did the people ever bother to clean up!? When we were heading back on a THIRD bus, the plastic above the overhead bins snapped. Never ride a Roadrunner or you'll have a very bad day.

Also, they offered a pizza meal and it turned out to be Dominos. No offense to them but I was expecting a sit down inside with something more local. Not even paper plates and napkins. Weirdly had no music playing for the majority of the trip, guide blamed it as being unfamiliar with SA radio stations since she had just driven in from Houston. The tours are supposed to consist of three brewery/winery/distillery visits, I'd assumed it would be all of the same category i.e. all brewery or all winery but we had a two for one perk visiting Ranger Creek Brewing & Distillery in that we were getting to try their beers and whiskeys. We'd anticipated a bit of a story and a tour of the facility but honestly this one went on waY too long. Still, this visit was the high point once we realized we weren't limited in our samples and they were pouring full pints. Back on the bus to New Braunfels Brewing Co., a brewery known for its sour beers, many made with fruity elements and one spiced pickle beer. These were honestly a trip, we were presented two drink tickets and I sampled a pink beer, sour, and a splash of the pickle beer, spicy and sour. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it, one of the homies running the establishment sounded like Seth Rogen so that was a treat. The majority of the bus seemed to really dislike the visit though and I saw a few people tossing beers into sinks or nearby plants. Our last stop was the Grapevine, something I was super looking forward to but wound up being the most disappointed. I was anticipating a couple sweet glasses of wine to wind up the trip but after fighting downtown traffic down a narrow road, we were told we'd get 45 minutes to wander around since that's how long our host figured it'd take the bus to circle back. It was so disorganized, we literally just walked in to what felt like a super crowded gift shop where five or six people poured samples down a long bar. The wine samples offered, while delicious, were barely enough for a SIP. I asked our guide if we were supposed to tell them something to get actual glasses of wine and she told us we had to purchase the drinks, only the samples were free and only three samples at that. Okay, so what was all the money we spent on the tickets actually going towards? We got our tickets at a convention where they were offering a special price, 2 for $100 I think, then the day of the tour we were told to bring $20 cash for a tasting fee. What the what? Even after alllllll that, during the drive back to the drop-off point, our guide announces both she and the bus driver work for tips. $70+ at the end of the day and barely caught a buzz.

I'm talking grown adults acting like unsupervised 8-year-olds. Drinks flying, people ducking, one girl fighting for her dignity like her top came off ... and I'm pretty sure we came within inches of flipping that boat into the San Antonio River Walk. Meanwhile, the captain's just cruising along like, "This is fine. This is my Tuesday." Daytime? Beautiful, classy, postcard stuff. Nighttime? Turns into a floating bar fight with better lighting and a tour guide doing stand-up. End result: I came for a relaxing boat ride...
