Don't expect to get the personal attention. I had my chart mixed up with my wife's record. They are very dis-organized for sure. We were twice billed with no-shows invoices although appoints were rescheduled to different dates well in advance. They never take responsibility of their mistakes but keep trying to blame on us. They should be more concerned more about your health than collecting $50 no-show fees anyway but that is not the way things are handled here. read more

I love Dr. Kadet. He's the only doctor I've used in NYC (10 years) and I find him trustworthy and attentive. I've never been one to go to the doctor a lot (my mom didn't believe in antibiotics for every kid illness), and, even when I do, I find Dr. Kadet to be pragmatic and talks me off of whatever fake ledge I've gotten onto (because I believe that, since I didn't go to the doctor a lot, when I feel sick I must be REALLY SICK-- I'm usually not). read more

I have been seeing Dr. Kadet for close to 9 years now and could not recommend him higher. He will always see you, answers your calls during off hours and personally calls you with your test results before his office hours. He is a great doctor; kind, polite and caring. Dr. Kadet is great, but for a routine checkup, you really spend most of your time with his PA/Nurse Zoia, whose bedside manner is a bit harsh. I went in for my yearly checkup last week, and when Zoia took a blood sample, she pierced through one of my veins. I ended up with a protruding clot, inflammation, and a LOT of bruising. I also had to get an ultrasound on my arm, to rule out any deep clots that would have required emergency attention. Luckily that was ruled out, but a week later my arm still looks like it was beaten up pretty badly. But like I said, I really like Dr. Kadet. His office is very efficient, and he really listens to any and all concerns. I just won't be letting Zoia anywhere near my veins in the future. read more

I call the office and they told me that Dr Alan Kadet only does physicals and if I want to come in for other reasons. I could only be seen by a NURSE. That's the worst thing to tell your patient why would I make appointment to be seen by a nurse, not a doctor. That doesn't make sense, now I have to find another doctor. I find out he changed his practice to a "Personal Care system" - it comes with a big a fee. It's a shame, he's going to lose a lot of his patients with this change. read more

Dr Kadet has been my GP for 14 years. He is very thorough, friendly and attentive. He gets you in and out without making you feel rushed. On several occasions I have been able to see him without an appointment. When I have been referred to specialist he always follows up. His staff is stellar as well. read more

Dr. Drive Through. If you think, or even suspect that anything might really be wrong with you, don't go here. This guy didn't even ask me to take my coat off. Didn't put me in any examination room. Just looked in ears and tongue, slapped me with a zpak script (pre-stamped), I paid the bill and left. Eight days later, still sick as a dog, I went to another Doctor who took the time to talk to me, find out what was really wrong, prescribe the right (much stronger) antibiotic, tell me what I had and put me on the right path. Lesson learned. Yeah, this guy's quick. But quick isn't what you need when you are really ill. As they say, you get what you pay for. read more

I have been going to Dr. Kadet for almost 30 years and there's many reasons I stay with him. First and most importantly, he's a great doctor. He also cares about his patients and always follows up. If you want to sit back and chat for a while, he may not be for you. He's very busy, there's a lot of patients in and out, he's got a strong vibrant practice. He does great referrals to some of the best specialists in Manhattan too if you need further care. I also like Jen quite a lot too. She may seem a little brusque on a busy day, but she's got a heart of gold. He's a good man and a great doctor. read more

You can do much better. As a native New Yorker with few medical issues, one who'd become just used to substandard medical care in the Big Apple (because, let's face it, that's just the way it normally is...), I saw him as a patient for 15 years and put up with his factory-like practice, where he simply always moves you on to a referral as fast as possible and collects the commission. The upside was that, within reason, Dr. Kadet basically did whatever you wanted him to do, he was pleasant enough and you could see him basically whenever. The downside? I ignored the fact that his staff lacks any modicum of empathy (even by lower NYC standards). I patiently put up with having to call back repeatedly for the same requests (like a MRI referral letter or insurance medication pre-cert, etc.). I cheerfully sat through marathon office visit waits (hours at times...), working on my labtop. And I overlooked being strategically prescribed any longer-term drug I occasionally needed for one or two months at a time and then being required to come back in and pay the doctor another office visit fee for a renewal (even on the week when my wife was giving birth and I made a special, standard (for me) request - that empathy issue again...the moment when I truly realized how much his practice had excelled at nickel and diming me.) For whatever reason, I finally had enough, despite my already low expectations and unwillingness to go through the effort of finding someone else. Maybe it's that I was getting old enough to think I should seek out a more thoughtful, engaged medical practitioner, but I got concerned that I needed someone who (along with his staff) really (at least kind of?) cares. Again, you can do much better. For your own sake, don't put up with all the b.s. over the coming year(s): you SHOULD do much better. Trust me, as I've wonderfully learned since moving on from Kadet, there are far more dedicated and sincere primary care doctors at your disposal in the city. It does take some meaningful due diligence but it's a worthwhile investment. read more

Extremely disappointing. He does seem like an expert and an experienced professional, but he absolutely doesn't care about his patients, at least from what I felt. The type of Doctor that thinks of patients just as products on an assembly line (I don't know, maybe he was just too busy, but I'm seldom wrong about people). He barely spent 5min with me. Besides the seasonal virus (the reason of my visit), I told him that I've had a light cough for the past few years, to which he replied in a dismissive way that all my X-rays were clean and that I didn't have anything, and then quickly left to see another patient. That was appalling. THE ONLY explanation to the positive reviews below is that those people just didn't experience a better attitude towards them. I've known people who lived with the most horrible spouses for years but considered it normal because they just didn't know anything better. read more

Dr. Kadet doesn't waste his time. he is quick, polite and nice. but his staff has very problematic attitude. receptionist like a mean teacher and nurse, she has bad attitude and I don't understand what she says sometimes because she has a thick accent. Dr. Kadet is a wonder physician who is not only terrific at his trade, but takes the time with you to explain everything that is at issue and makes sure that, no matter how busy he is, all your questions are answered and you feel as knowledgeable as you need on the issue. I started going to Dr. Kadet more than 10 years ago. I have always found him and his staff to be professional and caring. I don't understand some of the negative reviews. Some reviews complained that the visits are too short. I appreciate that Dr. Kadet can assess my problem quickly so I can get in and out and on with my day. His office is a well oiled machine. I went to see Dr. Kadet for some stomach pains, and he prescribed Nexium. It turned out that did not need Nexium because I did not have acid reflux or symptoms associated with the use of Nexium. I also had some back issues that I told him about and he prescribed Naproxen and referred me to an awful back specialist who had no clue what he was doing and wanted to give me some injection in my back. I did not take the injection, went to see another specialist for a second opinion and it turned out after an MRI that all I needed was rest. So yes, bottom line is Dr. Kadet is a pill pusher with terrible referral and I have not gone to him since and would never go back. read more

I am surprised by how highly Dr. Kadet is rated on Yelp since I found him to be very average. For the 10 plus years that I went to Dr. Kadet he was good enough that I did not feel the need to change. When I had a problem he would refer me to a specialist and generally not offer an opinion. When I needed something simple like antibiotics, he prescribed them. There are usually at least 6 people sitting in the waiting room, and my average wait time was probably 20-30 minutes. I never spent more than 5 minutes with him, which seemed short, even rushed, but I'm not a hypochondriac, so it never bothered me much. He's friendly, but don't expect him to go out his way for you. As other people have mentioned, he really does call you at 5AM in the morning with lab results, which I personally find annoying and I would rather he have a nurse call at 8 or 9AM, since it is not like you are going to have a conversation with him at 5 in the morning anyway. His Eastern European nurse who gives the physicals is kind of severe and brutish in a way that is sort of amusing and sort of not. read more
