Also important was knowing that Southernwood has a local office and that we would be able to find/contact them (if necessary) after the job was completed. Our first experience with Kate, who fielded our call and answered many questions, started the adventure with positivity. Next was our roof inspector and estimator, Geddy Fuller - who was fantastic! He conducted a thorough assessment of the roof/exterior of our home to provide an accurate, competitive quote. He made recommendations when we asked, and was very patient as he guided us through the process. He met our insurance adjuster at the home to answer any questions they had, which helped moved the process along quickly. There were zero high pressure sales tactics, and zero gimmicks - a breath of fresh air! The company was well represented, the paperwork process smooth, and also important to us - the quote was competitive and reasonably priced. We next visited the show room in La Plata, MD which had material samples and colors available for us to review and compare on site. The offices are laid out nicely with many items displayed around the room so you can see the actual colors in person, not just view on a computer screen or in a book. Next was Kirsten, the scheduler, who patiently worked with us to establish a date for install while taking into consideration the weather, our schedule and their schedule. The material arrived on time and the job was completed on the scheduled day! The area was cleaned well afterwards and our property was treated with care. The follow up care we received was also a breath of fresh air - they checked to be sure we were satisfied with the work which included shutters, gutters, fascia board, and other items that helped bring our home up to date, all priced well and of good quality. We received our warranty information to file - and in our case it is transferrable if we decide to sell our home - what a value-added bonus! Overall, our experience with Southernwood Roofing and Siding was very positive; they offer a wide range of quality products for roofing and siding, combined with competitive pricing, and an experienced installation crew. Years later, the windows were letting in drafts. When my parents tried to file a claim, the manufacturer said the issue was with the installation, and when they went back to the contractor, the contractor blamed the window company. My parents were left to eat the cost. Didn't put two and two together until now. Fast forward to 2021, I had them install gutters on my house. In 2023, I called for a roof quote but never moved forward. In 2026, I tried to call them again, but they wouldn't return my call. Upon inspecting my gutters, I discovered major installation issues: the leaf fitters were shoved underneath my shingles, shingles from a previous roof layer were pushed back and the gutters were installed too high. This poor work has caused my fascia board to rot over time. So glad they haven't returned my call. Stay away and don't be naive like me. Needless to say, I've hired someone else for full roof replacement along with fascia board, soffit and gutters.

She took my number and insisted on my billing address but I stated very clearly my billing address was not for the property I wanted the estimate on to which she rudely said I need a billing address! I gave both addresses and my contact number. She said I forget the guy's name would contact me shortly about coming out. I never heard a word from anyone and then to my suprise on 9/24 I got an estimate from BG Siding. They didn't even 1. tell me they were coming 2. ask what I wanted and 3. tell me that they had been on my property. Of course the estimate is very vauge and I know they don't know what I wanted done so how the heck to they give me an estimate and by the way it was not that fairly priced either. I say go another route. Find a company that cares about potential customers and the service they provide. Too bad too because my dad really liked them and they do all his rental properties. Today, our family received an email from Eddie Green inquiring as to the status of our siding. We told him we had gone a different direction. The email said, verbatim "Yeah, I figured that when I drove past your house and saw the crew there." This is borderline harassment and stalking behavior. He then directly insulted my fathers intelligence and made some disparaging remarks about his character. The mere fact that such an email was sent is absolutely unacceptable. If Mr Green had known that the job was completed, he sent the email out of spite and jealousy. Insulting a potential client is absolutely horrible business practice, and completely childish.
