This is a review based on superb customer service .... given to me when I was not 'their' customer! My husband and I are in the process of building a home in NC and that means that many decisions are being made remotely, long distance, and without being onsite. Shortages and delays are common place these days so it shouldn't have been a surprise when we needed to change our countertops from those we originally selected. Cord's Cabinetry carry the same brand countertops offered by our kitchen contractor in NC. I had to visit the Cord's showroom three times in the span of just a few days trying to select a quartz that was readily available ..... in NC! Maggie was there each time and always greeted me with a smile! I explained that I was there simply to look at their displays and that I would not be a customer so I didn't expect anything from them. I didn't want to take up their time, just take up a little space while I looked at their samples. Maggie smiled, nodded, and proceeded to help me find several options that looked nice with our cabinets. She extended this time and assistance THREE TIMES!! You see, after the first two visits whenI took a list back to my contractor in NC, I found out that those quartz products would not be available in time for us. Even when I walked through the door the third time, Maggie came out to greet me and continue to offer suggestions, pull samples, put samples away, help me with photographing options that we were interested in ..... Maggie was what all customer service should be!! If we were local and needed the services offered by Cord's Cabinetry .... I would have no hesitation in contracting them to work with us on our project. You shouldn't either!! read more

So before I begin, keep in mind that I gave this company several chances to make things right over the last 3 weeks before writing this. Today was the final straw. So here goes my experience: About a month ago, I went in person to Cord's Cabinetry and asked how much it would cost for measurements of my kitchen so that I could deliver them to my designer. I could have easily taken these myself but my designer said to have them professionally done so that the schematics would be correct with no room for error. So I gave my information to the front desk at Cord's Cabinetry to a lady named Karen who was very kind and accommodating. She said I would receive a call from Mr Cord and could plan a date and time from there. About 5 days later Mr Cord called me back and we set an appointment for a weekday morning before I had to be at work. He came in and did the measurements, I handed him $150 cash which I'm certain they did not report to the IRS as revenue as I did not receive a receipt, and then he left. About a week later, I received an email with an estimate and these pictures (and yes, they were sideways in the email just like they are here). I kindly replied via email saying: "Tue, Feb 15, 5:01 PM to karen Karen, I was hoping to get the measurements so that my designer can do her thing, then I can get back with the cabinets we end up going with etc. Regards, Aaron Krahling" She responded saying that they do not give out the measurements until you make a deposit on cabinets from them, basically extortion in the form of keeping my measurements in order to force me to pay a deposit on cabinets that I hadn't even had the chance to give the measurements to the designer for. This is when I started to get angry. I paid $150 for something that takes less than 10 minutes that I could have done myself and now they won't give me the schematics. I responded letting her know that I needed the measurements to give to my designer. They basically reiterated their statement saying that they would not release the measurements until I made a deposit on cabinets that once again, I had no way at all of knowing what I needed other than what they showed me in the sideways attached pictures. So now I'm pretty upset. I try one last email attempt and Karen responded saying that they do not give out the measurements because then someone could take them to another cabinet company and not use Cord's for the work. Mind blown at this point and at my boiling point, I responded again saying that I paid for measurements and would like them. They wouldn't give them to me and still have not to this day. They finally did give a design of what they could make the kitchen look like but will not release the schematics of the kitchen even though this is what I paid for. Maybe they do good work, I don't know, but this is wrong. When someone pays you for something, you give it to them, not try to hold it hostage to force them to buy more products. I mean, what if I was trying to plan this out for a year from now? The whole thing just doesn't and didn't make sense. Finally, I went back today in person to try to talk to them and they once again said that they do not give out the measurements and I should have told the guy measuring what I wanted if that was the case. I'm not sure what other reason I would ask for measurements for? At this point, I'm so pissed off that I raised my voice and they basically said to take them to small claims court, so I guess I'll have to waste a day of my valuable time just on the principle. I was very angry and I guess next time I see them will be in said small claims court for not providing the service that i paid for. So simple, so sad, STEER CLEAR! read more

Cabinet quality is good but their pricing and business practices are abysmal. The initial rough estimate was reasonable so we went with Cord's and put a deposit down. Each time we made a small change the price would jump a lot. One time we deleted 2 cabinets and added a larger one and we were given $900 credit for the 2 deleted and charged $3000 for the larger one. We added a small trim piece to the larger $600 crown molding and the price jumped to $2100 (so we didn't do it). This happened over and over again so don't commit to a deposit with Cord's until you are completely finished your design. Then when they installed the cabinets they discovered a measurement error where the cabinet run would result in the countertops cutting into the door molding. They tried to blame this on me saying I put on larger molding, which I did not. I ended up have to pay a contractor to narrow the doorway by 3/4" so the countertop wouldn't cut into the molding, and they refused to cover that cost. Bottom line: Cabinets are good quality but I docked them 3 stars for their unscrupulous pricing practices and unwillingness to stand behind their measurement errors. read more

My husband and I decided to redo our kitchen and after looking at dozens of places that didn't have what we wanted (or didn't care...) we went to Cord's. We loved this one cabinet style but they didn't have a stain dark enough for us. To our amazement, they mixed up a bunch of custom stains for us and created our dream cabinets! The best part was that they were just as excited as we were :D They worked with us the entire time and suggested some great things I never would have thought of to use up what would have been wasted space. They even helped me track down the pulls I wanted for a lower price! (I of course, being the person who can pick out the only expensive one on a page of cheap ones, heh) The other thing that made a huuuuge difference- We lived sort of far from them and they knew it was hard for us to meet them so they emailed us every little detail, which was great. It saved us so much time and worry! I wish our bathroom remodel a few years earlier had been this easy! Added bonus: Wayyyyyyy more affordable than you'd think. If you've priced out kitchens at all, these people are VERY well priced for what you get. I would definitely recommend them to others. My kitchen is so beautiful I can't express how much I love it. My Mom gasped when I brought her to the house and she walked in the kitchen. Terrible customer service. I found it impossible to get an email back, and even if they were busy a simple email letting me know this would have been perfect. Three weeks into dealing with them (one visit to the store and me sending emails and not hearing back) I figured we would be well on our way to new kitchen cabinets. That wasn't the case at all we still were waiting and trying to get a "designer" to contact us about a meeting to review our design. Which to add to that, the designer wasn't doing anything, we made the design, got the measurements, and already had a cabinet design in mind so I am not sure what the "designer" was even doing. My number one complaint is not ever getting a response from them. I got one that asked when we could set up a meeting and that was all. Never heard back again. Looking for Cabinetry ? Highly recommend Cords Cabinetry. Ask for Karen (designer) she is absolutely, hands down a wonderful asset for Cords. A little history, we unfortunately suffered a fire back in Feb. of 2018. Although the house was not a complete loss the interior was due to the fire, smoke and water damage. Over the next 14 months through the demolition, planning & rebuilding process Karen was there every step of the way.  Her knowledge of design and product line was instrumental in creating a kitchen and bathrooms that far exceeded our wildest dreams. She never blinked during the kitchen planning stages at our, what seemed like never ending changes to the original scope. Don't be afraid to suggest your changes, Karen will be straight up with you on why your change will or will not work. Don't get me wrong, she will do what the customer wants, but, she knows her business listen to her.  She'll cover the smallest details right down to the model numbers of the appliances to be installed. She is so much fun to work with and her extrovert personality is a definite plus. Fast forward 14 months' time for the real test, family and friends to see the house for the first time in person not through pictures. Q. OMG, holy smokes (and some others but we'll keep this G rated) this kitchen and bathroom are beautiful, gorgeous, WOW who did this ? A. We LOVE Cord's Cabinetry --- they came in and completely fixed a very botched job by another local "kitchen" company who sold us that they made custom cabinets. The first company was found to not even have a shop or a mill because they said they made them, but simply take your order and go to the local Amish to have them poorly made while selling the cabinets as their own custom work. If you want Amish cabinets, go to them directly and save the cost of this middleman. Not at Cords -- The work performed by Cord's was done in their own shop and was night and day in the quality of the products and the service provided. The end result in both kitchen and baths was just beautiful. They take their time to do it right and now (a few years later), the cabinets still look like new and high quality. From measuring, to ensuring that you are happy with all of the details selected to a proper install. They provided custom crown work for our cabinets that made all the difference in the kitchen and even built other cabinetry to match throughout the home. I've gone back to them repeatedly for additional things to be built and have been happy with everything. Don't make the mistake we made earlier - make sure you SEE the facility where your "custom" cabinets will be made before signing up with anyone that claims they are building you custom cabinets. I love how internet reviews can be so harsh... You get to say whatever and the company has no recourse whatsoever on the negative review that never goes away. Sad really, as my experience was wonderful! This is one the best places in Southern MD to get assistance from if you are remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, straight down to just needing a counter top or additional cabinet (as is what i needed). We redid our kitchen almost two years ago using Cord's cabinets throughout. My wife and I spent many hours in well over a dozen kitchen design places ranging from Home Depot and Cabinet Discounters down to five or six local shops like Cord's. At the end of the search Cord's came out the clear winner. We got totally custom cherry cabinets at or below the price of the better grades of off the shelf cabinets. The Cord's installers were professional, curteous, and very skilled. They took care of details I hadn't even considered. Most cabinet places did not supply the toe kick. Cord's not only supplied it, but in cherrry to match the cabinets. None of the rinky dink black rubber stuff the builder used. We remain totally pleased with our decision to use Cord's. The entire process from start to finish was beyond our expectations. The cabinets are still drawing rave reviews from people who come to our home. We have sent several friends their way to everyone's satisfaction. You will not regret seeing these folks. read more
