Bernard was amazing. I came in not knowing exactly what I wanted. I knew I stood for long periods of time on concrete and tile and within an hour or two my feet were killing me. I went to another place and they told me I just needed a good pair of insoles sold me he best they had for $20. Giving little relief I decided I needed to try something different. A little apprehensive never paying more than $60 for a pair of shoes in my life I went to Alan's on Oracle. Told Bernard my ailments. Digitally read my feet walking and standing then also a manual reading. I have purchased all my shoes from the store on Oracle for the 20+ yrs. Until recently, I was always pleased with the quality of shoes and the service. Then, I went in to get a couple of new pairs of shoes and not one single employee,offered to help me. I walked around the store looking at shoes - made 4 rounds- then a man walked in 15 or minutes after I was there and was immediately greeted and taken care of. I asked to speak to manager, who simply apologized somewhat insincerely, but STILL did not ask how he or anyone could help me. Now I refuse to shop there. Worst service EVER! read more

My son went into your Oracle Rd store looking for Birkenstock sandals and was treated terribly. He was completely ignored and when he confronted a sales person for help they were rude and would not help him. My son was so upset he walked out. He is in his twenties, has long hair and tattoos, but is very polite and does not look like a hoodlum. Your employees should think twice about treating someone who doesn't look like their usual customer (old) because they might be the child of one of their older loyal customers. Drove all the way from Sahuarita so I could get some actual advice on shoes for plantar fasciitis. Three different salespeople waved vaguely at different sections of shoes and did not lift a single finger to help. I went out to my car and ordered immediately from Amazon. Your loss. Seniors beware! I am 78 and got talked into an $80 set of arch supports which ended up causing me foot problems as I only need a metatarsal support because of flat feet! The salesperson should have realized that if I didn't walk in with arch supports, I shouldn't walk out with them! Social security money wasted. read more

Wow, I bought a pair of Mephisto sandals at Alan's Shoe House and after wearing them for maybe a total of 15 days, the buckle broke. I took them back expecting them to exchange the sandals and I went in on a Sunday and was helped by a really nice saleswoman who told me they didn't have that style any more and that I could look for something else. It was a very busy day so I said I would return the next day. I went in the next day and told the assistant manager that I wanted to exchange the sandals and he was rude, right off the bat. He said that his employee had no right to tell me that I could exchange the shoes and that he couldn't do anything about the damage. When I insisted, he finally decided to try to help me. It's been 3 weeks since he begrudgingly took my shoes to get them repaired and I just found out that he is sending them to Mephisto today to be repaired or replaced and he has no idea when they will be back. I always want to support local businesses if I can but I will never shop here again. Edited 4/14/2011 I did get a call two days ago from someone in the office who was very friendly telling me that Mephisto would do the repair for free and ship to my home in about two weeks. While I appreciated the courteous tone of the person who called me, I still can't be excited that I will be without my shoes for over a month. read more

Wow they have Abeo inserts for metatarsal and arch issues. Really helped me. I love the joys tennis shoes with Abedin inserts. Expensive but I can walk for a couple Of miles with no pain. I was able to enjoy my vacation. Yea! read more

Bernard was very helpful finding our shoes. We purchased 5 shoes and it took about an hour. We had our 4 of our shoes sitting there while getting a 5th pair and then a guy named Jeff decided to put away all 4 of our shoes. We asked where they went and he said he resocked them. Then he wouldnt even help to find the shoes, so Bernard had to help us find all the shoes. Jeff just stared at us trying to find our shoes and was very rude. Very rude crew! Obviously customer service is not a priority at Alan's. Bought a pair of cross trainers on a Friday, took them on a short hike and could see that the sales person advised me incorrectly about the size. Took them back a day later to exchange them for a size larger. I was told no exchange because I had already worn them "on the street" once! They were unhelpful and offered to SELL me a pair that fit better. Funny thing is - I went straight to Kohl's to buy a pair that actually fit. I found the EXACT same pair for 40.00 LESS than what I paid at Alan's! The sales people at Kohn's were fantastic, they were friendly, helpful, and had a return policy that would allow me to return the pair if I found they did not work for hiking! I'll never shop at Alan's again and I warn my friends about their service and exchange policy. They lost my future sales and that of many people I know. They seem to be "penny wise and pound foolish" in their customer relations and exchange policies! read more

I was in the Alan's Shoes store on Broadway today and not only found a great pair of Olukai flip flops that feel great on my high arches and are also flattering but Jane showed me a nubuck eraser that has cleaned my purse right up! Very friendly service and a nice selection of men's and women's shoes! read more

Like night and day... i gave a negative review of Alan's late last year. I am happy to say this time was as different as...well night and day. Selection was great, sizes availability was equally great, but the service is why I write to correct my other review. The staff now are all different in every way. Santos was very patient, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him. All the staff were friendly and did not appear harried or unwilling to help anyone. What a difference. Keep up the good work, Alan's and whatever you do, don't let Santos go. read more

This company is complete trash! There's a reason why they have so many negative reviews. I spoke to the Manager Dawn after repeated failed attempts to get in contact with them about a purchase. They have a shoe on sale from sizes 5-11 for $112 the size 12 was $250. I thought this was in error. After numerous failed attempts they finally responded stating they will not lower the price bc the size 12 may be in demand. This is for the same shoe, color, and style. Yet the price remain $250 only for the size 12. Dawn said the price remain even after explaining how 7 other sites have the same shoe on sale. This boots is the Ugg Chancey boot look it up, you will see for yourself how unfair this disgusting company after point out their error. They will punish you for being tall and wearing a sz 12! Every other size 5-11 is on sale. They have terrible customer service their unwillness to do the right thing shows who they are as company. Do not buy from them! read more

I just returned for my Allen Shoes on Oracle. I was replacing a Tilly had that had worn out. The Tilly had guarantee say's that if lost or worn out it will be replaced live time for that buyer. I was treated like I was taking advantage of the warranty. The salesman was rude and I will never go back in that store again. I have bought shoes and this had at that store, NEVER AGAIN. read more
