A few refrigerated snack options and some of the best award winning wines on the central coast. The customer service is exceptional my wine specialist Olivia was knowledgeable and handled the room efficiently. Ambiance is pretty cool a large fish tank a medium size tasting bar plenty of high top tables and comfortable seating. Great accessories clothing and gifting options. Thanks Scott always enjoy my tastings

If you are looking for a quintessential tasting experience...this is a great jump off point. The tasting room is quaint, comfortable, and welcoming. The wines offered are an opportunity to taste unique flavors and styles that are not usually found. The names will be obscure, but the flavors will speak for themselves. The tasting room offers mementos and items of interest that will perk the most obscure of interests. Whether it be wine or items of interest, Alapay offers items that will quench your thirst for wine or the everyday interest.

I had a five star experience at Alapay and felt like we were treated like VIP. My friend has a membership here, so we were lucky to try a tasting of the wines they offer. Scott was our server, and he just so happens to be the owner as well. He was very personable and attentive to our table. I appreciate Scott taking the time to explain each pour and making us feel welcome. I can honestly say that there wasn't one wine that I didn't like, and that's pretty rare! I'm not a wine snob, but I do like a good quality wine. We started with the Alapay Grand Cuvee bubbles. It was a dry, crisp and slightly tart brut style sparkling that I really enjoyed. My second favorite was the 2021 Chardonnay. I don't care for buttery chards, but this one had the perfect balance of acidity and a slight hint of silky butter notes. A very well balanced chardonnay overall. For reds, my favorite was the 2021 Bourbon Barrel Rebekah. It's made with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This one has notes of smoke and ripe fruits; followed by soft tanins. The Bourbon Barrel aging of this wine makes this extra special. I really enjoyed this one! We also shared a charcuterie board, which was delicious! It was just enough to tie us over until lunch. The ambiance here is open, airy, and a few steps away from Avila Beach. It had an eclectic vibe and offered some really cute wall clocks, clothing for the wine lovers, cute Christmas decor and much more. Overall, I am happy to have finally checked this place out since my friend always raves about it. I can't wait to come back!

Amazing wine and customer service, two types of wine memberships. Lots of tables and merchandise.

Come in for a tasting, left with a case and a club membership, a free tshirt, and a magnet. Sounds about right for us. Thank goodness Scott didn't try to sell us a time share, because we probably would have walked away with that as well. The tasting was amazing, leaving us with perhaps one or two of the wines that we could do without. This tasting room is a gem, with Scott the owner guiding our morning. His knowledge of the grapes, the pours, and how to sell all of it was perfection. Become a member and the price doesn't change, it remains the same for the life of your membership, with two shipments a year of 6 bottles. Each label has a story, each wine leaves a memory. I'm so glad that our friend recommended that we come here. It was a beautiful start to a memorable day. The tasting room is adorable, while also serving as a gift shop with neat items that are quite unique. A block from the beach and situated in an cute neighborhood, Alapay Cellars is worth visiting while you are in the SLO area.

We love Alapay! We've come here a few times on our trips to Avila and now it's a staple. All the wine is delicious and everyone who works here is super friendly. Plus there is great shopping inside whether you want to find something fun for yourself or get little gifts for friends. They are dog friendly and have indoor/outdoor seating. We always end up buying at least a few bottles. Can't wait till come back!

What a wonderful gem of a wine cellar for a wine tasting experience. Great wine and fantastic service. Cheers to Jerry our tasting room specialist. Its also has the coolest and cutest gifts in the gift store. The place itself is comfortable and inviting and a must stop when in or driving through Avila Beach!

You know, using Yelp to help find a new spot in a new city is kind of the best. That's how I found Alapay! A friend told me about Avila Beach area, and I knew I wanted some wine... so here we are! I walked downstairs and the inside area is just so adorable with all of the wine things. It was REALLY hard fighting the urge to not buy all the things! The wine was actually pretty phenomenal. I'm more of a reds fan, and even though the regular tasting menu had a very large variety (bubbles, whites, reds, desserts), I asked if I can just taste all of the reds, and was easily accommodated. Best decision ever. the limited release reds were so good that I bought 3 bottles off that list! I also fell for the "buy 4 bottles and get 10% off" deal. Hook, line and sinker. Cinsault was delish! I will definitely be back if I'm in the area again!

I must update Alapay Cellars review. Why? I've been a member for 5 years now and it's still one of my favorites located in my community. The wines are absolutely excellent and delicious. The atmosphere is casual, fun and inviting. Scott and Rebecca make and serve their wines with love. They welcome you like family. Serve you till they can't serve no more ;D. Alapay Cellars is where water turns to wine. Fine wine. I must note the meaning of Alapay is in Chumash language - Above the world or Heavenly. Patronize and be surrounded by all of Alapay's treasures. Your experience will be heavenly.

Alapay Pinot Noir was absolutely delicious my Lil Rebel absolutely savored every sip xoxxox

No reservations, walk-in. We chose the tasting for two and got started enjoying our wine with beautiful views of the rolling hills. The host was very attentive and gave us our next tasting with perfect timing spaced between. We enjoyed the variety of wines we tasted and the friendly staff. There's one restroom on site located near the main entrance. They also had a nice water fountain to keep you hydrated during the tasting. Lastly, we love how this was dog friendly! We brought our little fur baby for the tasting outdoor. Would recommend this spot next time to dog owners!

The winery itself kind of looks like a house and has a bunch of tables out front. There was no music when we went but the vibe was amazing. It's a bit windy and the sun hits hard here so be prepared with sun screen. The wine was very good, some were sweet and others were a bit more oaky. The grapes they used in some of the wines were from the vines right next to us. Oscar and Clint were very helpful and provided a lot of insight on the area. We went to a couple of their recommendations in town and they did not miss. This vineyard is a solid place if you want to sip on some good wine with a view. Bottom line/TLDR: friendly vineyard with amazing views.

He explained the vineyards/wine-making processes connected to each of the 6 wines we tasted, which were a couple of Rieslings (Mike's specialty) and a Pinot Noir at the end. The tasting was accompanied by a small charcuterie spread, which was an appreciated gesture. The wines featured diverse palates and mouthfeels, and we bought bottles of our two favorite wines (both Rieslings, one from Wirz Vineyard and one called La Estancia) at the end of the experience. Mike really was a gracious and knowledgeable host, we appreciated his passion for his craft that he spearheaded in 2002. However, you will be missing out if you don't veer of the beaten path and head out for an adventure (you will not be sorry). Tucked inside the south end of San Luis Obispo the winery is located in a nice quiet area just a little off South Higuera. I have been here many times before, and usually the tastings were held inside their comfy tasting room. If a special event or just lucky you can get the treat get to taste in their production/barrel room (is this where the term barrel-o-fun comes from?).  The latest trip, due to the current safety requirements, the tasting were held just outside the tasting room on a nice set of tables with a new sun screen. Reservations were a snap (or call) and easy to work with their system and the staff were super helpful. Here is the most important part! The wines here are extraordinary, and would have to say some of the best Pinot Noir here in California. With the amazing soils (like Stone Corral and Bien Nacido) and the magic touch from winemaker Stephen Dooleys, these wines and especially the Pinot are not to be missed. The price considering the quality is reasonable and easy to pick up a few bottles to enjoy later. Now I need to figure out a pairing to pull together for dinner (hmm?). One of the things I appreciate about this winery and tasting room is their continued focus on the small touches they put on the experience and their special events. Previously I had attended a special tasting tour and this winery was one of the stops. The team put together and tasting menu with a smelling chart to compare smells and the different wines.  It was well done and loved how they really focused on providing value and a great experience for their guests.  If you're planning on some wine tasting or just being adventurous make a slight jaunt off the path and head to Stephen Ross Wine Cellars for a pinot and get to meet their team and wine family.  Be sure to put in your review what your favorite pinot was!? Cheers.
