I got a decent deal (slightly less than $50 a day) and at the counter there was no line (there was a huge line for Budget). After an easy check-in, I went to get a car from the rental lot. I signed up for a compact SUV and there were 5 available. I got the Ford Escape and it was clean inside, no scratches, full tank of gas, and no weird smells. I drove it around for a couple days and returned it easily within 5 minutes at the end of my stay. I got my full deposit back. Overall, I'm satisfied with the cost, convenience, and ease of renting from Alamo.

We were too far away to got back so I contacted Alamo and was told that they would make some allowances on out bill for the nasty stinking inconvenience of the car. Well, on sunny days we were fine, but, at night and on rainy days, 50% of our trip, we were stuck. Our clothes even reeked of cigarettes. Well, lo and behold, when we got the bill we got absolutely ZERO consideration for the nasty car. Imagine that. We travel a fair amount and will refuse any Alamo rental or any of the other rental car companies that they own or control. In this day and age to have a car like that is intolerable.

The captain and staff are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and go out of their way to help you in any way they can. When I first heard of the DI Ferry, I imagined a barge-like boat going 2mph carrying 50 cars on it. Wrong. Mega wrong. It's a private chartered boat that takes you to/from/around Charleston. Every single time we take the DI Ferry, we see dolphins. Every. Single. Time. It's so beautiful and relaxing to be on the water and really makes me miss my boating days. Also, for those who enjoy spirits, there is a nice bar on board as you're serenaded with beachy country and reggae music. 10/10 would recommend! You can't find a better (or less expensive) way to see Charleston as only a local could.

The journey out to Bull Island is a treat -- a scenic, peaceful ride through pristine Lowcountry waterways, filled with wildlife sightings from sea birds to feeding dolphins. The beach drop itself is a joyful way to raise awareness and funds for sea turtle conservation. The team does an incredible job explaining the significance of the event, the impact of donations, and the vital work being done to protect these gentle creatures. Walking the beach on Bull Island with the guides who are knowledgeable & passionate about the area & conservation is a real treat. They make the entire event feel intimate and authentic. Plus, knowing that every dollar raised goes toward conservation efforts just adds to the overall sense of purpose. Bring beach/water shoes, lots of water, it gets very hot with little shade, lots of snacks, sunscreen & a hat. There is very little shade. I highly recommend this educational boat trip for all ages. Despite not living in South Carolina, I have now been on the Bull Island Ferry three times. I'm not…read morethe only one; whenever they ask the crowd if there are repeat visitors, usually around a third or so of people's hands go up. Which is to say, if you're wondering why someone would pay forty bucks a head to take a boat to an undeveloped island when there are other boneyard beaches and fields of spartina grass all around, there are plenty of right answers. The land here is beautiful and undeveloped, and while there is a small public dock where anyone can land, there are not going to be a ton of people on this island. It's large enough to be quite dynamic, with thick forests giving away to wetlands reclaiming the ditches dug by the island's previous owner; the beaches are only part of the attraction. The heat, humidity, and bugs can be bad in summer, so going during the cooler months is actually better in my experience. There are tons of alligators, which are quite large but unlike Australian crocodiles, are relatively safe to be around if you don't do anything dumb. Other wildlife and plants will vary, but will certainly be interesting. By and large, the trails are wide and well-kept, and if you take the early boat in, you can get a good run of half the island or so if you stay on your feet. Conversely, you can also relax on an isolated yet spectacular beach. If you're lucky you can find a sand dollar, and plenty of other shells and artifacts can be collected (though the wildlife refuge imposes some limits). Bringing your own food/water/sunscreen/insect repellent is a must. Regarding weather, they take a credit card number to hold your reservation but won't actually charge you until the tour is done. It would be hard to be in the continental U.S. and find a spot that is cleaner, more beautiful, and more interesting than this one.

Then we changed planes in Minneapolis. What a nightmare. The gate agent was the most racist hateful person I have ever met. Trust me I don't use these words lightly. She told us we couldn't use our bags that we had clearly used in SLC. Suddenly all of the rules had changed. She also wouldn't let on another white family who she said they didn't have the right paperwork for there dog. They did. I demanded to talk to a Supervisor. Which they supplied. While we waited for them. I noticed that all of the Black Customers were not being held to the same standards. I was So upset by her actions. I'm sending letter to the Airline because she should not work with the public at all. Flying is no fun at all. You pay for good seats pay for every bag you want to take on and I'm over it. My family just finished two, 5-day, back-to-back cruises!…read more First, I highly recommend doing back-to-back cruises! They make it so easy! You stay on the ship and either stay in your cabin or move cabins. We changed cabins and the change was easy! We packed up our belonging and left them in the room. While we were enjoying brunch, they moved all of our things into the new room. We never got off the ship to see/explore Nassau, Princess Cays, or Half Moon Cay! We LOVED staying on the ship during those days!!! The ship is quiet and you have the place to your self! Note: everyone that did get off loved the beach!!! The food is AMAZING! Guy's Burger Bar exceeded all expectations! Done right is exactly what you get every time! Unlimited Soft Serve Ice Cream is glorious! So refreshing!!!! The restaurants are all beyond AMAZING! You get to customize every meal! And, the Marketplace offers several buffets offering sweets, entrees, and salad areas! Everything is just perfect! The pizza area is glorious (we loved the 4-cheese pizza). The custom sandwich bar is great for making a hot or cold sandwich! The staff is perfection! Joel (sounds like Noel with a J - should be a Team Lead Supervisor for his every attention to detail), Efenfi, and Suraj made every meal perfection! I do not have the words to properly describe their excellence! James Love (Cruise Director) is beyond AMAZING! If James is hosting an event, ATTEND! The comedy on the Ship is worth it! You will laugh so hard you may cry tears of joy, find yourself clapping because you are laughing so hard, and sometimes you will laugh so hard no sound will come out as you loose your breath! I feel like at the time there was a lot of unnecessary walking to keep crowd control down with the lines. Luckily one of the attendants allowed me to cut a line when they saw me struggling. I was grateful to finally get on the ship. Seeing the ship move for the first time is an amazing thing. The ship has a lot to offer. From bars, restaurants, shopping, shows and other activities. I did not go to a specialty restaurant or the sail away party. I will fix that next go round. Nor did I take advantage of getting off the ship. I just wanted to be able to do what I wanted to do which wasn't much. The one thing I really liked was the attentiveness and kindness of the room attendant. He was pretty thorough to have so many rooms to service. The food could stand to be revised. I ate in the dining room most days. I think I preferred breakfast over the other meals. The Buffett was a NO. Big disappointment. I thought there would be more variety and food that had some taste. I know it's hards to feed so many but I just wish it was a little better. I had no problems with the cleanliness of the ship. It is an older ship so some things are not super modern. I will be sailing again in 2024. This is the last year the Sunshine will be in Charleston. They are moving to Norfolk I believe so it's doubtful I will ever be on this ship again.
