One of the first of many many delays that day-6 am flight that left after 7 pm!
    Cindy R.

Alaska airlines did good. We had a flight delayed 13 hours due to not one but two engine/computer parts that had to be flown in to get our plane to start up. Everyone that worked for Alaska were very apologetic and understanding. We did rebook for the following day then changed our mind and decided to wait it out. I appreciated the honesty in dealing with the agents who said there was an 80% chance the flight would be a go. They were correct(though i totally would not hold it against them as these things are unpredictable!) As we 11 passenger hold outs from our 6 am flight were on our way in the sky all of the flight crew and captain repeatedly apologized. The following day we received an email with flight credit as an apology from Alaska air. Well done! I will definitely fly Alaska in the future. They really made the best of a crazy situation. Mechanical things happen-but they handled it with class. Nicest group of people all the way from the check in clerk to baggage handler.

We had out flight cancelled without any explanation. Then we get to our destination 10 hrs later and they want to charge us $250 extra to go home... I just don't get it. They won't even try and work with us. Thank god for small claims court.

The best way to get to Palm Springs from Seattle in my opinion. Ontario is cheaper, but an hour away. Alaska's service is outstanding, and in my experience flights are clean and on time. I read the reviews here where the plane was too hot, too cold, too late, too early. I've only had the Goldocks treatment from Alaska and my most recent trip was the same - just right. I got an upgrade to first class, so that made my day, and a nice breakfast on my 6:30 am flight. Our flight attendant Tony was terrific. Very helpful and attentive, everything he said was can do. At one point I thought he's trying too hard, but can I really fault him for that? He's doing everything he can to create a good experience for his passengers. The flight was comfortable and enjoyable, and Tony took good care of us. I've taken this flight a dozen times or so over the years, and it's always been good. So no, I have no complaints. I'm Goldilocks and everything was just right.

One of the true tests of good customer service is what happens when something goes wrong. Last month, two flights were scheduled to depart within 10 minutes of each other. However, only one crew arrived. The gate agents were open and honest: The flight with the most people making connections got the crew. Thus, my flight was delayed waiting for a crew to be assembled and arrive at the airport. We were all emailed a $10 food coupon. That was a nice gesture. Even so, my appreciation goes to the gate agents who kept us informed. While no one likes a delayed flight, it's much easier to manage when you get up-to-date information on an on-going basis. That's real excellence of customer service. I also flew on Alaska Airlines just last week. That flight ran like clockwork. (Alaska Airlines currently requires masks of all passengers and employees.)

3/29/14. AS317 Palm Springs to SFO. Delayed and delayed.
    Matt Y.

Flight AS317 Palm Springs to San Francisco Aircraft: B737-400 March 29, 2014 Flight was scheduled for 5:10PM but due to weather in Seattle and San Francisco, the incoming aircraft was delayed. Both airport monitor and Alaska Airlines website showed a modified 5:48PM departure. We arrived at gate 10 and settled down. The flight looked full consider pretty much all the seats at the gate were taken. The inbound aircraft finally arrived at 5:35PM so there was no way they can board everyone and be on the way at 5:48PM. Departure was now at 6:10PM. I will never give an airline a poor rating if a flight is delayed due to weather. So no grudge. But the way Alaska Airlines handles this flight, AS317 on March 29, left a lot to be desired. Before the inbound passengers disembarked, the ground agent started making announcement to "encourage" us to gate-check our hand-carry items because the flight is full and overhead space would be tight. That's somewhat true. But they really wanted to turn around the aircraft. Boarding was chaotic. After the first class people and all the elite gold silver blue green and yada yada boarded, they welcomed "those who would not need overhead space" to board. Like half the plane herded up to the boarding line. By the time we boarded, much of the overhead space was of course taken. So whatever happened to people who didn't need the overhead space? It's utterly ridiculous and stupid. Beverage service also left a lot to be desired. because of the short duration of the flight, I'm quoting their words, they could only serve complimentary water and orange juice. No sodas. No tea or coffee. WTF? The orange juice was a pre-packed affair called "SUNCUP." It was half thawed with ice sludge. Gross and disgusting. One hour and twenty minutes and they cannot run a regular beverage service. Are they not aware that in Asia they serve a full meal on a flight with the same duration? How does US carrier get this low in service? No wonder foreign carriers have gamed up on and get the better of them. US carriers like Alaska is a low-cost carrier at best. Plane is an antiquated 737-400 with good upkeep. Seats are comfy with regular pitch of about 32". Flight attendants are very friendly and that enlivens the flight experience. The only reason I'm still flying AS is that it's the only carrier that flies to Palm Springs year-round with a jetliner and that I earn Asia Mile with Cathay Pacific.

Picking up a rental car at one of the station has been a breeze. Driving in has always been a breeze without all the crazy traffic. The airport isn't that busy but a nice small international one. Picking up rentals cars was simple. The different rentals places are located at the end of the airport. They're pretty much close to each other as the counters are one after the other. Check in for cars was a breeze and pick up your car outside. Everything is self serve. But also, I love that you can take the Amtrak Chartered Motor coach, a shuttle bus. There's a stop at the end of the airport right next to the rental car. Get on the bus which takes you all the way to downtown Fullerton where you connect to the Amtrak and go down to Los Angeles. That was a game changer finding out that I can do public transportation instead in of driving and sitting in traffic. There's always loads of parking whenever I'm coming through. So based on the charter bus and rental car at the airport, it's alway been a nice experience. Haven't tried a flight here but with a small airport, they tend to be way easier than the hustle and bustle of your larger international airport.

I'll be honest, my history with Southwest hasn't exactly been great. I'd say about half the time I've flown them, something has gone sideways. So my expectations were not high. But this time? Completely different story. Let's start with the check-in experience at the Palm Springs airport, because it deserves its own moment. It is hands down the best Southwest check-in experience I've ever had. It's a breeze, it's actually enjoyable, and it has that very specific Palm Springs vibe that you just don't get anywhere else. It doesn't feel chaotic or stressful like most airport terminals. It feels light, easy, almost... fun. You'll see what I mean when you go through it. The flight itself left on time. Not "almost" on time. Actually on time. People boarded, got into their seats, and somehow managed to get their carry-ons into the overhead bins in what felt like record speed. I was sitting there thinking... what is happening right now? This is not the Southwest I'm used to. Now, I did get stuck in a pretty bad seat right next to the bathrooms, which is never ideal. But since it was such a short flight, the discomfort didn't drag on forever, which made it manageable. The real win here was the luggage situation. I was able to get off the plane and grab my duffel bags quickly with zero issues. No drama, no surprises, no one suddenly deciding my bags don't meet some random requirement. And that alone made one thing very clear: every single problem I had with my luggage on my previous trip was completely induced by Frontier. The people in my row were decent, the process was smooth, and for once, everything just... worked. I never thought I'd say this, but I have a whole new appreciation for Southwest after my tramatizing experience with Frontier Airlines ( Never Again ! )

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing…read more Due to delays caused by weather, my family's itinerary had to be changed. We had originally purchased a separate seat for our infant, but because the replacement flight only had three seats available, Southwest moved our infant to a lap infant. At the Palm Springs airport, a Southwest representative told me that I could receive a refund for the unused infant seat and that, because I had booked through Expedia, I simply needed to contact Expedia to process it. After spending a considerable amount of time with Expedia, they contacted Southwest directly, only to be told that the seat was non-refundable under Southwest's policy. I was left caught between two companies, each pointing to the other's policies, despite following the instructions given by Southwest's own employee. Traveling with an infant is already stressful. Having flight delays, itinerary changes, and then being given incorrect information made the experience even worse. While I understand policies exist, customers shouldn't receive conflicting information from airline staff. I have always heard good things about Southwest, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I hope they improve communication between their airport employees and customer service so future travelers don't go through the same frustration.

Fair enough as we realize stuff happens and if erroring on the side of safety i get it but not getting the hotel fee? This delay was on @jetblue not the weather or anything else. Their plane their issue. Now the return trip. We are arriving back at LAX and plane is not cleared to land so needed to circle back to land and thane this, "We have been diverted by Air traffic control but now have been approved to land. However we are concerned we do not have enough fuel if diverted a 2nd time. So we will fly to Ontario Ca. fuel up and come back to LAX." How do you fly from east coast to LAX and not have enough fuel to complete the trip. Seems somewhere a choice was made by someone to not add enough fuel to the plane and we didn't get home until 2:30am? Didn't book red eye flights but both trips ended up being so! Guessing @jetblue makes these flights every day right? not enough fuel? Needless to say my experience was miserable and unfortunate not sure i will ever use those points and probably will never fly this airline ever again. @jetblue your decision to not re-imburse the hotel and not put enough fuel in your plane on my return trip was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Would I fly Delta Air Lines again? Yes, particularly for travel along the West Coast and across North America. However, before future trips, I would also compare fares and schedules with Delta Air Lines, Delta Air Lines, Delta Air Lines, Ethiopian Airlines and Delta Air Lines to determine which carrier offers the best overall value and onboard experience.
