I've only been once, but I can see Alaura making the 5-Star Club when I make a few more trips here. Located on Pitmans Main strip, is this little ice cream haven. Although, don't sell Alaura short; apparently their food is a force to reckoned with as well, or so I've heard. I've only had their ice cream, so that's all I can comment on, but I'm definitely going to give their small plates a stab on my next visit. As far as that ice cream goes; it was pretty damned good hand dipped ice cream. There was a good variety, and there were even some funky flavors thrown in. I had a sample of the "balsamic roasted jersey tomato" which is a very bold choice. (Tasted ok....just not for me. I wouldn't turn it down if you GAVE it to me.) I had the peach, the Little One got her usual; chocolate with chocolate sprinkles, and The Misses got the Toasted Coconut, in the salted caramel cone. Everything was tasty and creamy. The menu changes as well, so there is always something to get here. I was told that they also have ice cream flights, which will be cool the next time I go too. There was ample seating inside, as well as few chairs outside, so we didn't have a problem finding somewhere to sit. Will definitely be updating soon after my return visit. Oh, Yelp has their hours messed up. They are open like noon on the weekends.

Still the best homemade ice cream in the area. Hands down! Service is excellent, only outdone by the original and unique flavors.

Since my first visit here I have been back multiple times. The ice cream here is divine and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Usually when I go my boyfriend and I get an ice cream flight (YES, that's a thing) and a few pints to-go. They have the best flavors around and the best quality as well.

Originally I only planned to stop in here because I had a headache and needed to buy some water. Alas, I was with my mother, who arguably has the largest sweet tooth in South Jersey (potentially the whole state), and she can never resist ice cream. And of course, I got ice-cream envy and requested a vanilla milkshake. Coke products are also available from a small case up near the front door. Yes, I keep cheating on my "eat cleaner" resolution, but at least this pretty stuff was homemade from an adorable little neighborhood shop! The ladies working were very friendly and accommodating, and it didn't take long to receive my $5 milkshake, no whip cream. It was whipped up thick, so they suggested grabbing a spoon too. Seats are comfortable if you plan to eat in, but keep in mind it's an ice cream shop so it could be loud. I had to leave fairly quickly because small humans shrilling in my ear with a pounding headache isn't an ideal combo. Alaura also offers hot dogs -- a fact I noted as an after thought while paying. This also bodes poorly for my resolution. I'm sure I'll be back soon to try some more creative ice cream flavors (dirt, anyone?) and grab a bite. And for what it's worth, my mom inhaled her butter pecan cup in about .2 seconds.

A Pitman specialty ice cream/candy store where a vintage store front offers cool treats in summer.

A must stop for a warm summer night treat! The shop is located downtown in one of the vintage store fronts. A timeless logo is centered in the shop window. Owners have tried to keep the vintage charm inside, too. The walls are the palest ice pink, with black accents from black metal tiled ceiling, chalk board menus, and vintage picture frame. They've aptly paired the vintage charm with modern patterned curtains, seat cushions in a chevron pattern, both in black and white, and a selfie photo board. The store offers seating at three high top tables and four regular height tables, as well as making wise use if their store front window with seat cushions, plus outdoor seating in a few chairs. Nice 'front porch' gathering feel as you walk part satisfied customers enjoying treats. Alaura's Kitchen offers homemade caramels, waffles, frites, and homemade ice cream. The have unique flavors like lemon basil, peach bourbon, cinnamon toast crunch, bananas foster, and root beer. Plus the offer your traditional flavors- chocolate, vanilla, butter pecan, birthday cake, chocolate chip cookie dough, and more! I tasted the lemon basil as a recommendation from a friend. It was wonderfully mild while the basil was stronger than the lemon while my tongue expected the opposite. I also tasted the chocolate, vanilla, dirt, and root beer, but I personally ordered the butter pecan. Oooooo, it was perfection. The ice cream had a rich flavor from the buttered roasted pecans and the deep butter pecan color all through the ice cream, not just sparingly around the nuts like some ice creams. I'll return to try the frites with toppings, and of course more ice cream!

I placed my order online and only had to wait a few minutes when I was there. One thing I wasn't nuts about was seeing a bunch of fries already packed sitting under a heat lamp when I got there. A young gentleman was packing the to go orders who seemed a little flustered which made sense cause it seemed there was a rush happening, but wound up forgetting to give me the side of cheese sauce I ordered. I should have checked myself so it's a little on me, but I did make it a point to ask him if it was in the bag and he said yes. When I tried the fries at first, they were actually excellent. Perfectly warm, crispy, and salty however after sitting out only for about 5-10 minutes, they took on a texture of staleness which was disappointing but I suppose it's from already sitting out under the lamp. I feel like if they were made to order, they'd probably stay fresher a bit longer. I got the roast pork sandwich with provolone and roasted red peppers which was very good! The pork was seasoned well, a little peppery which I love. Roasted red peppers were good too! As much as I loved it, it was absolutely swimming in juice or oil from the peppers so it was extremely messy, but again, delicious! We also ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich called the hoagie which was great. They make a wonderful cutlet! I'd for sure come back, but maybe skip the fries next time.

From the outside it looks like your classic neighborhood cheesesteak shop, but once you walk inside you're greeted by a surprisingly warm, rustic dining room filled with old license plates, wood accents, and just enough local character to make you want to sit down instead of grabbing your food and leaving. I ordered a cheesesteak, and this thing was absolutely loaded. Not one of those sandwiches where half the roll is empty--every bite was packed with tender, finely chopped steak. The meat was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and the cheese was melted throughout instead of just sitting on top. Sometimes cheesesteaks try to get fancy with a hundred toppings. This one proves you don't need any of that when the basics are done right. The surprise of the meal, though, was dessert. I figured I'd finish with a slice of cheesecake, expecting something ordinary. I was wrong. It was rich, creamy, and the perfect way to end the meal. It's the kind of dessert that makes you slow down and enjoy every bite. Service was friendly, the restaurant was spotless, and the atmosphere felt comfortable--exactly the kind of place you could bring family, grab lunch with coworkers, or stop by after a long day. South Jersey has no shortage of places claiming to have a great cheesesteak, but Steak Out has earned its reputation. When you combine generous portions, quality ingredients, a welcoming dining room, and a fantastic dessert, it's easy to see why this place has been a local favorite for so many years. This definitely won't be my last visit. There's still plenty left on the menu I want to try, but one thing is certain--the cheesesteak alone is worth the trip.

We also tried a regular Korean rice hot dog and a potato Korean rice hot dog, as well as a regular mozzarella one. They were all very good. The batter on them was thicker than I was expecting which made it more filling, but still nice and fluffy. They also had a few different condiments out. The pieces of potato on the outside of the one added a nice extra bit of texture and I paired it with their spicy mayo that they had available.
