(My rating is more of a 3.5) ** CASH ONLY ** My brother and SIL took my family and I here during a visit. They raved to us about the local creamery that made all of their own homemade ice cream, and had a very dynamic and rotating menu of flavors. As ice cream lovers, we were excited to give it a try! The inside is very eclectic with wall to ceiling DIY murals, and what appears to be thrifted seating inside. The women at the counter were nice but not very welcoming, just kept to themselves and tried to keep the long line moving as fast as they could. Important to note - they're CASH ONLY. Despite all of the unique flavors, I felt a bit limited (to be honest). Very little topping options as the ice creams are designed to have the toppings inside. This makes it hard to get any degree of customization if there's a flavor you like but has one or two no-go ingredients (which was the issue I had most.) The temporary flavor I had was fine, but didn't blow me away or seem any more special than my local spots back home. I think this is an interesting place but I think if I was local, this wouldn't be my usual spot. They truly cater to people who have an adventurous palette and like trying new things, which limits the kind of guests you can attract, or friends you can bring along. (I personally find something I love and tend to stick with it for ice cream, which would be difficult here. And most in my family don't seem to be as adventurous.) BLUF: Very good ice cream, in a decent sized space with a very "Mad Hatters Tea Party" Vibe. I've read other reviews that mention that the "line is always out the door here," but on a Wednesday, around 6pm, me and my daughter were the only people there. Speaking of that, I'll touch on this: I get that not everyone is going to find my daughter as adorable as I do. I fully understand this. BUT, my daughter runs in, super excited to be getting her drug of choice, and loudly announces to the woman behind the counter: "CAN I HAVE CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM WITH CHOCOLATE SPRINKLES AND M&MS PLEASE!" She's 4, so this was like a direct dopamine injection for ME, but the woman responded with "whoa." And not like a "woah little lady! Look at YOU!," it was more like, "whoa.....settle down kid." NOW....I chalked it up to MY interpretation of the situation, and just let it go, but then I read a review that said that the woman told a table of children that "this is not a playground," during her visit, so maybe there's a little fire with that smoke. I didn't use that against them in my rating, but it was definitely something that pinged my radar. Maybe this place isn't as kid friendly as you might typically expect an ice cream shoppe to be. This is fancy ice cream for the grown ups. Which is where the loss of star actually comes in. One, it's adult prices. For 2 childrens single scoops of, admitedly very good ice cream, it was about $9. It's not highway robbery, but it isn't cheap either. Honestly, I didn't mind the price when compared against the quality. They also have approximately a bazillion flavors, that apparently change weekly, so that's a plus as well. Aside from the price, they don't have sprinkles, or any toppings really, other than fudge, which also lends credence to the "this isn't a playground" accusation. I would say this place really doesn't cater to kids, or rather, just much more caters to adults. Still, the proof is in the pudding, or ice cream as it were, and this place delivers. It's fantastic ice cream, and that's what matters most. I'll definitely come back, and do the ordering for my daughter. read more

What amazing ice cream. Very cool spot in a shopping center. The interior seating area has a hipster vibe with mix-matched tables and chairs and a painted mural on one wall. The back of the place is where the goodies are located. There are giant chalkboard walls that lists the many ice creams. There are no toppings, but lots of the flavors incorporate toppings, which is unique but cool. I ordered the small with coffee and black cherry chip. The ice cream was perfect. It was creamy and not too sweet. There were plenty of chocolate chips and actual cherries in that scoop. I was blown away. Prices are super affordable too. Get here fast. Cash only. read more

I don't know how Latteria gets their ice cream to be so fresh, delicious, and sweet. From first bite, you can tell it doesn't taste like any other ice cream joint. The type of ice cream they give out is so much more fresh from other ice cream shops and brands. I've gotten Latteria for a while now and each and every time I do it's great. 100/100. The employees and management are prejudice. They served us LAST because we're Asian. When it was finally our turn there were no manners or a friendly "hello". AFTER we paid they used my service dog as an excuse to kick us out. The manager had the audacity to ask what service my dog does for me which is highly illegal and not appropriate to ask. When I didn't give an answer (as I am not obligated to) she continued to be rude to get us to leave. I will never spend my money here. This eclectic and brightly-lit coffee-and-ice cream-shop is a rare find in the Swedesboro area. Quality products, free samples galore, and sweet staff set this place apart and make it shine in an otherwise mostly bland shopping center. On a somewhat recent visit, I ordered a root beer float. While it was made with A&W (nothing spectacular, but not bad either), I was surprised when they handed over the can along with the float. 10/10 some of the best icecream I have ever had. My favorite so far is Sunny Day : Vanilla ice cream with a raspberry swirl and pieces of lemon cupcake. Reminds me of a lemon poppyseed cake with a raspberry filling my sister once made for me. Eating their icecream pretty much spoils all others, so be prepared to now think of ice cream as an extravagance...but it completely deserves it. I keep hoping they will take flavor requests since I have a love for Strawberry Rhubarb ice cream with pieces of pie crust, and that flavor is very hard to find. There are only two ice cream stores in the country that I rate 5 stars: Izzy's in Minneapolis/St Cloud and Latteria in Swedesboro. Latteria makes their own stuff, and it's really the best I've had in the northeast. There must be cows out back for every flavor. Do the coconut cows chew coconut cuds? Flavor, consistency, and balance are the hallmarks of this ice cream. The toasted coconut and peanut butter are excellent. Good latte and espresso here as well. The staff is great, the ambiance is entertaining, and the flavors/ice cream in general is all around PHENOMENAL. It is cash only, BUT i would walk 100 miles to the nearest ATM just to withdraw my last $1 to get a mini-cone. The mini-cones are great for those who can't decide on one flavor. Some say it is the best in South Jersey, but I believe Latteria is the best ice cream in the country. Not only is the ice cream super creamy, but it is filled with flavor. The flavors are always changing and are always unique. My favorites include any variation of peanut butter, toasted coconut, and pumpkin. Pumpkin is seasonal to the fall, but it is so worth the year long wait. Even if you don't like extravagant flavors, just their vanilla and chocolate ice creams alone will be the best you have ever had.
