I was in Clearwater with my wife for a little getaway weekend for our anniversary and one evening we decided we weren't too hungry, so we started looking for decently rated pizza places, and we were tickled to find Alba Pizza & Cafe. Why were we tickled? Well, Alba is our last name, so we had to try it. It was about a mile and a half walk from our hotel and it was a nice evening so we took the walk. The area around the cafe is dark and relatively quiet, just off the beaten path a bit. The cafe is built into an old house it seems and there is no inside seating. We walked in and met two people, one was the owner and the other was taking our order. We waited outside for our pizza and in about 12 minutes, the owner brought it out. We asked how they came up with the name of the restaurant and he said it is because the family is Albanian, and he seemed to get just as big a kick out of us sharing the same name as the cafe as we did. I wish they sold t-shirts, but hopefully that happens soon. This is not any kind of bias, but I am happy to report that the pizza is outstanding! I'm originally from NY, so I'm a little picky about my pizza and I prefer a Brooklyn style- thin crust, and a little on the crispy side. This pizza was cooked perfectly! The crust was perfectly crisp, but not charred, the sauce was delicious and the cheese was terrific and the best part is the pizza was perfectly balanced. So many places put way too much cheese or sauce on their pizzas, but not Alba, they do it right! I had meatballs on my half of the pizza and they were excellent. I was pleased to learn that Alba has another location in Tampa, and the sister of the Clearwater location's owner runs that one, so we're going to stop in there one of these days as we live about 40 minutes away. To the gentleman who yelled across the street "Best pizza in Clearwater!" when we were about to walk in to Alba, I say: Thank you, and you are right! Alba would also be the best pizza (by far) in Palmetto if they ever wanted to open a location there. Haha. Thanks so much to the staff at Alba, you all are very friendly, and we enjoyed the conversation and the great pizza. We will surely see you again one day soon. Unfortunately you can't call in your order so I HIGHLY recommend you just go and place an order or understand that it's going to be centuries before you get your order. I placed the order through DoorDash and after the app said it would be ready in 25 min it then updated 20 min later to add another 45 min. When I arrived they looked dead. I spoke with someone who said they also had been waiting forever for their order. I finally received my pizza and was highly disappointed. No crunch, had an off taste to sauce, lacked pepperoni. The place was cute and small, only outdoor seating. Perfect to grab a slice or pie for lunch and head on back to the beach. Super close to beach access less than 100 feet from the beach. The outdoor sitting is great too, worked especially well for us since we had a small dog. The pizzas came out quick and sizzling, the sauce was on , supreme was delicious. I would say the only thing I'd add is for them to cook it extra crispy. The people working there were fast and very kind. We walked from Sandpearl through the beachside for this hidden gem. We decided to give them a try based on their excellent reviews. We ordered a 16in cheese pizza with "beef pepperoni" meatballs, mushrooms, basil. The pizza was very good however for $3 a topping I feel the mushrooms & basil were lacking. They should definitely add more. The crust was crisp but soft inside. It had a slight coal oven taste. It was one of the best pizzas we have had in awhile. I'd give the pizza 4 stars but have to remove a star for hardly any basil or mushrooms. Maybe try cutting the basil to spread it more? Just a suggestion. Also, I usually order bacon on my pizza but theirs said "beef bacon" I was unsure of that. We took a chance with the pepperoni & it was great! Maybe I'll try "beef bacon" I'm still debating that. The salad that was $14.50... not even worth $5! The salad felt like robbery. Even the croutons, I haven't seen croutons that sad looking since the 80s. The Parmesan cheese was a tiny sprinkle of powdered cheese, not fresh grated parm. The dressing was so little it didn't even cover the lettuce. At least it was Romaine lettuce though. We ordered delivery so I'm not sure of the ambiance but, from the pictures it looks like it's just a tiny place on the beach. The service? The order was ready & delivered on time so zero complaints there either. If you're looking for good pizza, I'd recommend them. If you're looking for vegetables too... this isn't the place. You can get a better salad in a bag at Walmart for 1/4 of the price. read more

Cute location and the food was so good. We got a margarita pizza, a calzone, and garlic knots and they were all excellent. We just grabbed it and brought it back to our rental, the location is small with only outdoor seating. Recommend it if you're in the area. read more

After reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try. The food did not disappoint. I opted for the baked ziti with meatballs and a small salad. The salad was plenty. The ziti was delicious. My husband chose the penne with vodka sauce which was even better. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. One of the reviews mentioned seating with an ocean view which does not exist. You can walk a little ways to the beach but bring a towel to sit on. The restaurant itself had a few tables under an awning. We may go back to try the pizza but will definitely get it to go. read more

We went to Albas 3 nights in a row because the food was that delicious! First night- pizza. Amazing! 10/10. 2nd night-a well done pizza (as requested) fantastic! 20/10. 3rd night-calzone-Alfredo sauce was so delicious and it was huge! 10/10. We also ordered wings-they were delicious as well. And lastly, we ordered the garlic knots! So so good. What really was the icing on the cake was Eden. He was behind all that delicious food and was the kindest person ever. He recommended places for us to visit, and offered us free pop for being repeat customers. They use the right flour and they have an old school pizza oven. I went in a few minutes before close tonight and watched them make my pizza fresh and it was delicious as usual. This place is right near the beach, and is easy to access, it has a very tranquil atmosphere with a nice patio. In total, we ordered 8 pizzas on a 6 day stay, I should've bought two more to drive home with. It has been several years since my visit to Clearwater, but I will NEVER forget the pizza!! I searched for a long time to find the name so I could leave a review. I was staying at Hotel Cabana at the time, and it was a short walk for a cheap slice of some of the best pizza I have ever eaten! Thin, cheesy, foldable, and perfect in every way! At that time they served by the slice late at night, it was perfect to grab a piece on the walk back to the hotel from the bar. To this day I crave a slice! 2nd time* I got the meat lovers pizza this round which was much better. The dough tasted better and fully cooked which makes me wonder if it's because I got the small last time. Now if you are a pork lover, you might feel weird about this pizza as the sausage taste nothing like pork sausage. That being said, I absolutely love that this place is beef based. I love meat on my pizza but never get it because it's always pork based. This pizza was sweeter than the margarita too.. the sauce tasted sweeter and it had a hint of cinnamon. I thought we the pizza was the best pizza on the beach but I have been proven wrong with today's visit. Alba is a cute little pizza store on the corner of mandalay. The pizza tasted different from any I've had in Clearwater, the sauce has a subtle sweetness that complemented the cheese very well. There must be some herbs blended in and I loved it. It's a small shop but you have a clear view of the kitchen and an interactive experience with the owner , who was very friendly to me and my brother. Great experience great pizza .
