I used my debit for a $5.75 wash and got charged $11.50, they hold it for 24hrs & credit back to your account. What a find. This is the best place in the neighborhood. You could easily miss it. Now that I've discovered their wash and fold service, I am a loyal customer forever. I brought a big heavy bag of laundry , they weighed it, gave me a price and when I came back my sheets, towels and clothes were beautifully folded and wrapped up like a neat little package. I still do my regular loads at home, but when I have a larger amount of laundry, I know where to go. I usually go to Woody's Laundromat on Park Ave I'm Oakland but I'm had errands in El Cerrito so I yelped around and found this place with good # stars and # of reviews. Parking: I was lucky and got a spot right in front. I think w the many eateries nearby parking might be an issue as certain times. No parking lot. 18 washers, 25 dryers, 1 small Beth room sink; laundry service in back. Cost for wash: $4.25 30# washer, $5.25 40# washer, $7.50 60# washer. 30 minute wash time for 30# washer. Cost for drying: $.25/ 6 minutes (3) folding areas (large tables) at a good heoght I used (2) 30# machines. Unsure if I had enough quarters, I counted out for each machine (17/machine). One didn't take the quarters readily - maybe it was getting full. But it would return the uncharged ones w the return button if pushed several times. BUT, it "ate" one of my quarters without crediting me (heard it drop into the box but the amount didn't decrease by $.25)! I spoke to the woman in back who was folding laundry. She reluctantly came out and looked at the machine, then I inspected my remaining two quarters and said one was Canadian and couldn't be used. But that didn't solve my problem of losing a quarter already in the machine. She refused to return my quarter nor return the amount I'd already put in the machine, as I was ready to head to Woody's laundromat instead. I asked her who was the manager or who to call but she just walked away and said no one could help. (She was correct there). I happened to find an Emergency Number and called it, left a message. The woman came out to check something and I asked her the name of the manager but she told me that it was forbidden for her to give that information out and there was no phone # to call! Unbelievable. So, I tried the emergency number again and someone answered! I explained my situation to her and she said she'd call the woman to give me my quarter, as well as make a note of the rude service, and the problem machine. Fifteen minutes later, i heard the woman yell out to someone but I thought it was for someone folding their laundry. She came toward me and then tossed the quarter into the table next to me, then went to the back room. No comment, nothing. Well, customer service sure isn't her forte! I found this place on Yelp and decided to stop by here after work. When I came in after 5pm, the laundromat was empty. The washing machines worked great! I used one of the newer washing machines. I noticed there were some older model washing machines available. The price was reasonable compared to some other laundromats I checked out. I paid $4.75 including $2 for a box of laundry detergent. They followed my complicated instructions to a T. Used the unscented liquid detergent I brought (label yours with a Sharpie). I'm not sure what the young woman's name was but she was such a sweetheart. I always opt for the wash and fold service since laundry is one of my least favorites. It's $1.25 per pound. Additional fees for special instructions. I have gone to other facilities to get this service done and they always ruin my clothes. Not in Albany! They followed all my instructions for each load. None of my clothes were damaged. And the pick up was quicker than what I expected. That was such a bonus. The facilities are clean for the most part. Parking can be a pain but they have a loading zone directly in front so you can drop off your things then find parking. Try the wash and fold service! read more

I've been doing laundry here for around 10 years, it has been reliable enough for me to get my clothes clean every time. Especially after the recent new owner improved everything! Freshly painted walls, new windows, improved hangout spot in front of the door, new/clean machines with a great system where you can reload your loyalty card with your credit/debit card right on the washing machines, also a quarter changer for backup. This makes my laundry experience so much more convenient and even feels a bit fancy. As long as I'm still living around here, I'll be doing my laundry right here at Albany washing well! read more

This is my advice for the owner- Have coin-operated machines, or the ones you use the card with. Either one is fine. But not both. As a first time customer, I come in and see I need a card. So I go to the back to purchase one. The gal asks me how much money I want to put on the card. I dunno, I guess $20- I have a lot to wash. There are no instructions on the machine. I swipe the card and press "start"- but that's not it. I need to ask the gal- "How does this work?" There's an unmarked button you need to press BEFORE you press start. Then I have to have her come back again- "How do I get the detergent in the machine? It's 7 feet high!" Turns out there's a plastic step stool- dude, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen, trust me. Then I go to put my clothes in the dryer- and it takes coins. ...are you kidding me? I just put money on this card! So I had to move my clothes to another bank of dryers, which would take the card. Several of those were out of order. When my clothes were in them, someone else wanted to use the card operated dryer but he couldn't. Fix your dryers. And for goodness sake, go with all card operated machines! Once you put your money on the card you can't get any refunded. Even if it's to use the coin operated machines! Not a bad place, but not well thought out. read more

Everyone hates going to the laundromat. This one is not going to solve that problem! But as soon as you work out their card system, and get your $3 card, and know they ONLY TAKE CASH, it's actually not bad. There are always machines available, even on Sunday evening. It's clean, and you can do your shopping or there is a bar nearby. What's not to love? read more

The window in the front of the building has been broken for months (since Fall 2020) and has not been repaired. Used to go here when Frank owned the business and this place was run like a TOP. Sad to see that this local laundry mat has really gone downhill. The machines appear to be look brand new but only put out partial water and do not clean the clothes throughly. The machines are grimy with old soap gunk in them, floors are grimy, the changing tables are also grimy, trash is often overflowing, and have never seen the owners of the business. We have been using this service for over 5 years when Frank was the owner and it has really gone down the tubes. read more

At night the owners go home but I think they live across the street/nearby and use some cameras to monitor the place until coming back to lock the door. Plenty of four dollar or six dollar machines but not enough of the smaller machines available the owners and employees use up the small machines throughout the day only leaving you the option to pay twice as much is you need to... Not a very effective service for locals nearby today I walked in and had to walk right out without being able to do my laundry... This coin laundry is small, cozy, and clean. Other places nearby cost $2.75 or even $3 a load, but here the machines only cost $2. But more than that, the service is outstanding. The owners (Jane and Dennis, mom and pop) are lovely and eager to get up to help you out in a pickle. They take pride in their work and if they see your face there often, they take the time to get to know you. I researched this business and was excited about the reviews. I mentioned it when I dropped off my wash and fold clothes. I also pointed out that I had a black sweater that should be separated out, took it out and showed it to the young lady, and she said she'd be sure it would be. Well, when I picked up my clothes the black sweater had red splotches of fuzz in different places all over it. I went back to speak to the manager who was polite but said all he could do would try to wash it again, or give me 3X the cost of the cleaning = $5.00, for a $70.00 sweater (it was only 2 mos old), so he did try to clean it again, at no change. There was no change, the sweater was still ruined. He was unwilling to compensate me beyond the $5.00. I did not expect full compensation, even $25.00 would have been some recognition that there was some culpability on the business side, but he was steadfast there was none. So, I will not utilize their business again. read more
