I went searching for a closer dry cleaning option and found Huey's.The staff was so sweet and shared the story of her accomplished daughters. I so wanted to love this place but ultimately it comes down to the service. I gave it an extra star for the great conversation - she earned it. I dropped off a few items for cleaning and laundry - pretty standard fare but it took more than 2 weeks to get my items back. After a lengthy 1 week stated waiting period. Secondly they weren't cheap, I figured at their prices they would have speedy top tier service, not so much. I did eventually get my items and they were clean and properly handled but it took a while. I will be traveling to my old standby, it's much further from my house but has reliable 2 day wait times (& a rush option!), fair (not cheap) pricing and great energy. read more

I've come here for the past 15 years. I generally love this service, and I think the seamstress is really great. However, I recently had an experience where I had to take two dresses to get altered. I was really limited in time and had to pick up the dress a few days before the event. Three days before the event, I noticed that the dress that I was going to wear had a huge gap in the middle, which means that it had not been closed up after it was altered. In addition, the alteration at the bottom was crooked I reached out to Michelle And notified her and if it was a possibility to come back because the wedding was the next day. Michelle was on vacation for the next two weeks and I needed to find another seamstress. She sent me to someone who was great who was able to fix the centerand was able to steam the dress at the same time. Spent way more than anticipated but I appreciate it her customer service although I am a little upset that this was not the result that I wanted because the dress ended up breaking so I did not end wearing, I would still give her another chance, and hope that this was a fluke. I spent 70$ to get it altered (it was still big), and the bottom was not straight. And then, I spent $20 to get it steamed at the other cleaners. read more

Twelve years later we are still bringing our clothes to Huey's. They come home folded in white paper rather than blue, but the service remains wonderful. Michelle takes great care of us, carrying the clothes in from the car and back out when we pick them up. She is careful to make the packages smaller so we don't strain our backs when we bring them into the house. She is very caring about Alan, asking after him if I pick up or drop off the clothes rather than him doing it. When he was in the skilled nursing facility she was very concerned and hugged me, offering comfort. When Tam has brought clothes or bedding to her she has recognized her w/ delight. She has been though a lot w/ us, including when Alan's car was totaled in front of Huey's while he was dropping off the clothes almost two years ago. She has been a stalwart in our lives. read more

My folks have been using Huey's since I am pretty sure they have been together (35 years now I think). When I lived in the area and on my own, I would take my own clothes/sheets and towels, etc. to Huey's when I could afford it during the quarter saving for the washing machine or then as a treat when I was too tired from working full time as a single mom. Huey's is a family business and every time I have come in over the last almost 11 years of living back in California I am welcomed in like an old family member. I guess seeing someone as a 10 year old now as a 42 year old and a then newborn who is now 17 gives "us" our own connection aside from my folks. I wish Huey's was still down the hill (or street depending where in EC or the Annex I was living) as I would use them for dealing with my sheets (especially the fitted ones) and quite honestly I hate folding and putting away laundry. When I was able to help my parents by taking their clothes down and picking them up a couple of weeks ago, I realized I would have no problem putting away the laundry if everything was folded as perfectly as they do at Huey's. I am so grateful that this mom and pop is still around-kind of makes me feel old but in that good nostalgic way. I am also so grateful they have made my folks' life so much easier after all of these years. PSA: I am certain they take credit cards, but remember the merchant fees for a small mom and pop are very high. Cash I am sure is appreciated (or check if they know you)! read more

I went there 2 times, first time the lady was rude and ignoring like she doesn't need to work. I thought she just had a bad day. second time she did the same and when I asked for student discount, she went to the door and open the door for me to live. I love this place I use the cleaning services because my apartment doesn't have a washer/dryer, it's very reasonably priced and such a time saver, if I ever have to move I will miss them with all my heart because ALL the time I save. Scent sensitive Beware!! I brought in around $100 of alterations (not dry cleaning or washing) (6 things) based on excellent alterations in the past. And, she hemmed my shirts and pants well, but My clothes now STINK of scented laundry detergent - The silk shirt I will have to take to another dry cleaner and the dresses I washed in cold on delicate - and I have aired everything out for days, the horrible scent remains, especially on the two dresses. This was not the case in the past - It might be the personal detergent the alterations person was using, or they changed their detergent for their wash and fold - I noticed it as I came to pick up my clothes and when I came home and tried everything on it almost gave me a headache! If I'd known, I would definitely have taken my clothes elsewhere. I don't know if my dresses (2) are now scent ruined. I will probably have to wash them in hot with vinegar, which will shrink them and ruin their color. read more

These folks did a great job altering some pants and are probably fine for most laundry and dry cleaning needs. I went to them based on these reviews. However, I will only give them 2 stars because of how they handled a small (2' x 4') 40 year old wool rug that I asked if they could have cleaned. They had to send it elsewhere, which I understand, since it is more of a specialty service. It took about 2 weeks, which I was fine with. When it was ready for pickup, I opened it up from the packaging and was disappointed to see that the rug was still coated with hair (reason #1 why I wanted it cleaned) and the fringe was really filthy and rough on both ends - not how I dropped it off. The woman behind the counter explained that it wasn't their fault, that they didn't do the cleaning. I get that, but I felt like they could have accepted some responsibility for reviewing the work of their contractor. Instead, they just passed the blame and I had to go home and spend one hour removing the hair as well as delicately washing the fringes. Whatever cleaning they did was not really noticeable and it was wasted money (which I still paid because I understand that they need to cover their costs). Added to that, I don't think the woman understood most of what I was saying and had little customer service skills. It was a very frustrating experience and I will not be going back. read more
