Machine burned or ripped holes in my shirt. Female owner blamed me, said I put bleach on it.

Today I did a load of laundry - a normal load of shirts, no different from the dozens of times I've been here over the last nearly 4 years. When I took my shirts out, the one in the very front of the machine - the first one I took out - had big holes in the front of it. I was shocked. I immediately went to get the woman who works here and thought she'd be helpful and reimburse me for my shirt, since she's always been nice to me in the past. Hell no. She berated me that somehow *I* had burned holes in my shirt. What?! She kept saying there was nothing wrong with the machine, but clearly there is seeing as it ripped giant holes in my shirt! Then she said the shirt is old - NOPE, it isn't. Then she said I got bleach on it - NOPE, I've never used bleach a single time in my entire life. Ultimately she said I put bleach on the shirt and handed it to me and walked away. I've been coming here for almost FOUR YEARS and she thinks this was a long con to get $20 for a tshirt out of her? Screw this place.

This is a pleasant place to do laundry. On my way to another laundromat on Shattuck, I passed this place and noted: that place looks huge! And there's parking out front. When I got to the place on Shattuck, they had only a half dozen or so front loaders and they were like 3 bucks each so I doubled back. At Washingtown, they have a suggestion box, tv's, candy machines, and a sign that says "Free soap with soaps - 10:00 to 3:00." Too bad i couldn't take advantage of this offer. There are about 60 top loaders at $1.50 per load. There are also a couple dozen of the good-ol wascomat jr. front loaders ("double load") at 2 bucks each, which is cheap. Then there's the triple and quintuple front loaders....they got it all, as well as same day wash n fold. The dryers worked well. One ate 2 of my quarters and the skinny old dude that was working there acted like someone just dented his cadillac. He got to cursing all over the place and saying how people slam the doors all the mf'in time and how this doesn't happen in Piedmont. Yeah but you gotta pay to park in Piedmont. Anyway, he gave me unlimited time on a nearby dryer, which was awesome. He also was regulatin' when kids were playing with the laundry baskets. You do a good job, dude... I should have put something in the comment box. There's a parking lot in the back, but there is lots of parking out front too. The only other businesses in the strip are a Dominoe's and a burrito place. Overall, glad I found this place.

I love all the live plants, and this place is clean, PLENTY of free parking in their own lot, and the machines are well maintained.

Half the machines don't work. It gets very packed so prepare to either wait or go early to beat the crowd.

Parked in front since I was unaware of rear parking. Arrived and only 1 other person washing. Noticed I had to download an app (another one to add to the list) and it was a breeze. I did observed an attendant who was busy with the shop vac cleaning out the dryer vents as well as doing loads of laundry. The area is maintained cleaned and no machines out of order. I did run into an issue and approached the lady who I observed cleaning. Catherine when asked her name reset the dryer since it went crazy after trying to add more time. She reset it and asked me how everything was going. Guess it was obvious it was my first time. Lol Highly recommend and great place.

    ## Review: The Laundry Room (Berkeley & Oakland, San Pablo)…read more I've been to both Laundry Room locations--Berkeley and Oakland--and funny enough, they're both on San Pablo. I actually ended up at the Oakland one by accident (directionally challenged over here!), but I'm glad I did because both spots are equally impressive. Over the past year, I've dealt with housing instability, which means I've spent a lot of time in laundromats across the Bay Area. For me, keeping my clothes clean is a way of maintaining dignity and stability when life feels chaotic. Right now, I'm staying with friends and doing laundry for their whole household every week, so I've become something of a laundromat connoisseur. And let me tell you--The Laundry Room chain is hands-down the nicest laundromat experience I've had anywhere. ### What Makes Them Stand Out - **Top-notch machines**: All brand new, spotless, and seemingly sterilized daily. - **Attendant always on-site**: Unlike most laundromats where you have to call a number and wait for help, here there's always someone present, constantly cleaning and keeping everything in order. - **Cleanliness**: No moldy, grimy machines like you find elsewhere. Everything is sparkling. - **Amenities**: Bathrooms for customers (rare in laundromats!), free Wi-Fi, flatscreen TVs with live sports, and even free coffee. - **Atmosphere**: Chill enough that I once brought in some fried chicken from down the block, and no one batted an eye. ### Practical Perks - **Parking lot in the back**: Huge plus in the Bay Area. - **Machine sizes**: No super-small washers here--the smallest is a medium, starting at $5. Perfect for big loads. - **Neighborhood extras**: Right on the block you'll find two fantastic Mexican supermarkets and a fantastic Arab market (house made baklava!) all of which accept EBT. ### Final Thoughts After visiting laundromats all over the Bay, The Laundry Room has become my go-to spot. Between the cleanliness, amenities, and friendly staff, it's a five-star experience every time. Whether you're in Berkeley or Oakland, you'll feel comfortable doing laundry here--and maybe even enjoy it.

She's runs her business alone, so don't get mad if she isn't at her shop or misses a call. She's worth it. I don't know who the person was the owner or whoever that I meet and I don't care at this point but she looked me up and down, told me it's all cash here and sat down as if that would make me leave. I should have left as that was the sign of more horrible things to come. I told her ok I can pay cash, can I drop these things off, 3 dresses, two suit jackets and a pencil skirt. I'm classy and sometimes I think my class will rub off on haters..wrong again. One dress was white on top and black on bottom she said this will bleed too hard to clean but will try. She stuck tape all over it and put it to the side the rest she slid over not really looking for stains. I didn't have any stains to report but most of the time cleaners will at least look at the stuff before putting to the side. She told me ok pick up Monday. Didn't offer a day or ask when I needed it. My manager recommended this place so I thought let me give her a chance maybe the clothes will come out clean and looking good. I come Wednesday and a sign on the door reads gone till 5/30 vacation, sorry for the inconvenience. Say what now...so you couldn't call me and the other 3 to 5 people whose clothes are here that you are going on vacation for a month. You couldn't tell me that when I dropped off my clothes. TERRIBLE!! Now I'm a nice person most of my reviews are 5 star I don't really do 1 stars or 3 that much unless it's necessary. I come in on 6/01 I pick it up and let me son count the money whole time she's frowning. Ugh so I take home and look at my white and black dress dirty, same stains. I took the dress to my usual cleaner Flamingo a block away and they cleaned it as they have before. I don't usually toss out race but I went in with my Russian manager first time totally different experience that's why I came...never ever again. Black people can pay cash and deserve the same treatment. Keep your money go anywhere but here.
