I was actually scared of them, and that fear became even more real after a horse fell while I was riding in Colombia. So the fact that I now look forward to getting on a horse says a lot about the environment that has been created here. I found A Place for Dreamers during an especially intense season of my life. I was recovering from a traumatic brain injury while also preparing for the bar exam, which meant spending countless hours studying, staring at a screen, and constantly feeling like my brain was "on." Coming out to the ranch became one of the few places where I could genuinely slow down. There is something incredibly calming about putting the books and phone away, getting outside, being around the animals, and focusing on something as simple as the trail in front of you. What started as me trying to become more comfortable around horses turned into something I genuinely looked forward to as a way to decompress and reset. Everyone has been patient, welcoming, and willing to let me build my confidence at my own pace. I never felt pressured to pretend I was more comfortable or experienced than I actually was. Whether you're already an experienced rider, completely new to horses, looking for something different to do around the Houston area, or simply need somewhere to disconnect from everyday life for a little while, I absolutely recommend A Place for Dreamers. The name really does fit.

Roland, our trail guide, was outstanding. He has a loving command of the horses as an experienced horse trainer, who is majoring in animal science. His relationship with the horses made us feel secure. He floated back and forth, chatting with each rider and ensuring that everyone was well. After a short email requesting info on their lesson structure and cost ,and briefly describing my…read moresituation and riding experience, I received a one line response saying they have a wait list for lessons. No information, no other even nice comments like, "We would love you to come take lessons with us, but we are running a 6 month lesson waitlist. If you would like to be added we would gladly do this." No......Here is their response. "We do have knowledge of natural horsemanship however, we also have a waiting list for our lesson program currently." This makes me feel they could care less about having my business and about me. I have trained at far too many establishments over the years where they care and respect the horses more than they do the people. I love horses too, but if I ran a riding school, it would be about helping people connect to horses and enjoy horses, and respecting both. Also I must say their reluctance to give any prices for anything on their website or in this email response makes me wonder. Are prices variable? do you make them up on the day? What is the deal. Bear in mind this is my only contact with this company and certainly does not tell the whole story. They could be a terrific group that is knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I will never know. I am moving on to somewhere else, where even a rejection is done with courtesy and thoughtfulness.

The ranch and ride was so much fun, being outdoors with the beautiful horses. It was my first time riding- felt nervous but excited- and the team made me feel at ease. I received a mini walkthrough on how to guide the horse to go forward, stop, and turn. My guide was Matt who made my first visit (but not last!) great - told great stories, and shared about various animal/plant activity along the trail. I missed the exit to turn into to get to the ranch, I may have missed the sign on the road, but my GPS eventually got me there, lol Upon arrival there's plenty of parking. The email has super specific instructions for your arrival. Including arriving 30 minutes before your ride time. I got there about 20 minutes beforehand and that was plenty of time. If you come with a group belive entire party has to be present to check in together. $68 bucks for a group ride rate per person. If you miss the email or forget all of the steps just look for the check in desk and they will go over everything. You must wear a helmet to ride, for your protection. And they offer free bandanas to protect your hair (and for sanitary reasons) from the helmet, that was nice. They match up the horse with each individual, I think based on height and weight. That takes about 15 min to get everyone matched and saddled up for the ride. The trail is covered by trees in the forrest, but it's still hot out in the elements, so be sure to hydrate before and after. Pro's -Quality time to get to know your horse before and after the ride - zero riding experience required, but does help -staff for most part friendly, willing to take pics for you in and off the horse - children, and special needs folks are welcome Cons - possible emergencies will cut your ride short - riding instruction only given to the front of the large group not the back - ride may not start on time, so give yourself extra cushion time if you make time sensitive plans after. Tip not required, bur encouraged. Overall a fun experience. But may do a private ride in future to get more detailed and intimate instructions. Enjoy!

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking -- a crisp, snow-covered trail winding through tall pine trees under a brilliant blue sky with perfect fluffy clouds. The weather was ideal: sunny, calm, and just cold enough to make it feel like a true winter escape without being uncomfortable. Huge shoutout to our incredibly patient and helpful tour guide who made the entire experience smooth, safe, and enjoyable for everyone (especially first-timers). Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The horses are well trained and follow each other since they already know the trail, but they still respond to commands like go and stop, and you can steer them left or right if you want. That made us feel comfortable even as first-time riders. The only area I think could be improved is having a small practice area for brand-new riders to learn the basics before heading out on the trail. Other than that, everything was amazing. I came to a silent Bookclub event here last week called Pages with Ponies and just had to come check it out. I loved that they were able to roam around us and we could pet them. I did get some reading done and it's very peaceful here. After we finished reading we were able to make a bowl of food to feed the horses and ponies. This was a unique experience. Some things to know when traveling to get here make sure you turn on 10655 Katy Hockley Rd. There's a black mailbox that has an arrow to turn there. Do it because I missed it the first time and it was pain to u-turn on this tiny road. It's a bumpy road and parking was limited for our party but we made it work. I enjoyed my time here.

This is an absolutely beautiful and very special place to visit located in Katy, Texas. We had a…read morewonderful visit with two small kiddos (ages 5 & 8) and they loved every minute of their experience here. Our small group started with miniature pony brushing and then got to dress up their animals in various accessories. From there they got on smaller horses with a guide leading them and learned basic skills, like stopping (whoa) and had a lot of fun riding around the enclosed area circle. They even played a few games like red light green light. After that they learned to walk with the miniature ponies and even got to take them over a jump and through an obstacle course. We then finished the day with a little carriage ride with the owner, Paige. The highlight of their visit (they said later) was learning to clean out a horse stall. Who knew they loved cleaning so much! All of the guides were wonderful. The main gal that did the instructing was just so lovely and sweet to the kids explaining everything with patience. Definitely a must visit for anyone looking for this kind of experience in the area.
