Indoor and outdoor arenas, 2 round pens, outdoor hunt course, dressage area, and ample riding areas. For preparing to show there are two hot and cold wash racks. The best thing about this facility is it doesn't FLOOD due to a large 20 acre pond next door. Horses are turned out 95% of the time due to the facility is one a grade which allows for exceptional drainage!While most barns where evacuating their horses during Hurricane Harvey the barn didn't experience any standing water. The owner transports horses to Waller if needed for the best veterinary care in the area if necessary or has 4 local veterinarians routinely visiting the barn to maintain care. She accepts mostly jumping and dressage horses but also have several quarter horses at the facility that want high end care for their horses. The barn has 24/7 access for owners, and she hauls boarders to local jumping shows and prepares them for their classes. You won't find a better facility in the area.

I made an online payment to secure the horses and we were on our way. It was a pretty smooth process. The horses were pleasant and not intimidating. Our guide was an experienced rider and answered every question we could of lol. They have many different kinds of animals there, it gives ranch but not farm vibes. *insider tip* They offer 2 different types of rides! A regular trail ride and an "experience" trail ride which includes trotting and cantering. This is good to know so you schedule accordingly. They use different horses for different experiences. Apple Maps kept redirecting me every 5 min and delaying me an extra 20min!, so i would recommend just searching "A Place for Dreamers" and get directions. Just go! This park is far away enough from Houston but still close enough for a day trip, which is what I did. It took me about 30 minutes to drive here from Sugar Land. As I approached the entrance gate, I saw that they had two lines of cars with gate booths, just like the national parks. A ranger came out to my car and I registered myself as a day visitor. A park map was given to me and off I went to explore! Brazos Bend SP is larger than I thought it would be. There was a large parking lot and a few trailheads not too far away from the entrance, but I decided to drive past it to the next lot. 2 miles on the road later, the next parking lot was equally large but with much less cars and visitors. There's an interpretive center that was closed when I went, but a water fountain was nearby where I refilled my water bottle. I ended up walking along a combination of trails to get a feel for the place. The trails are mostly flat with asphalt, dirt, and light gravel. The peacefulness of this park is what really convinced me of the gem that this place is. Along the way, I witnessed many birds, including several vulture roosts in the trees. I also saw the American alligator in a pond, which I viewed from a safe distance. It would be quite difficult to reach the river and the ponds because of the natural vegetation in the area, so there weren't any wild alligators on the trails. I didn't get the chance to fully explore this park, but I wouldn't mind returning here another day. The gift shop offers a variety of items to purchase and the rangers seemed knowledgeable about the history of the park. Overall, I enjoyed my time here!

Gross, gross and gross. Undercooked corn dog, dry wings and processed chicken strips. The swim up bar was closed. The snack shack was closed. The slides were closed. Kids in the hot tub (which is clearly marked no one under 18 in the hot tub). One trash can for the whole area. Water was clean enough and drinks were okay, nothing special. Everyone was nice, but the person on the phone clearly should have told us what we were walking into. They put us in the spot right next to the playground area. We called and asked if the lights were on all night and how bright they were. Yes, on all night and no, not bright, was the answer. Good thing we requested to move because those lights were incredibly bright! Even from four spots down! Sunset was nice. Park is clean and maybe it's fun when they are at full capacity and everything is open and functioning, but it was less than stellar of an experience. Limited on pretty much everything. No maps with park info or anything. We tried to make the best of it, but not what we expected at all. Pretty bummed about the whole experience. Front desk needs to up their game and offer accurate information so campers know what to expect. Should've left when they said they didn't have any maps or info about the park.

We timed it and waited 30 minutes after the last thunder sound to go ask if we could go in. They told us the last sound was one minute ago. Uh what? Okay... As we were leaving, I decided to check if they had a number I could have to call and ask if the pool is open. I was banging on the gate yelling HELLO! HELLO! Even though they were right by the gate, they couldn't hear me over their laughing. After awhile, they looked back over their shoulder and utter "Yeah?" I asked 'Could I speak to someone face to face please?' And they didn't even move and said "what?" I was appalled and so disgusting by their attitude. I see this behavior in my high school classes, but if these are lifeguards representing the community we pay to be apart of, I never want to go back again. I had always been drawn to horseback riding as a sport, but never pursued it as a hobby because I thought it was too late to learn a new skill. Still, I scheduled a beginner's lesson with Jacqueline. She was very friendly and answered my emails (with a million questions) promptly. When I arrived to the stables, Jacqueline met me and gave me VERY detailed instructions on how to mount a horse--I had NEVER ridden before. She put great emphasis on safety so I felt very safe and was very patient with me. The lesson was incredibly informative and fun. I highly recommend Jacqueline to anyone I know--novice or otherwise. read more

She is not afraid to speak up when necessary and stand her ground where the operation of her stable and school are concerned. I have never hesitated to recommend her for anyone seeking riding instruction. She's absolutely top notch in our book.
